Background:The prevalence,age of onset,and symptomatology of traumatic brain injury,stroke,and neurodegenerative diseases(such as Alzheimer’s disease(AD),Parkinson’s disease,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,and Huntington’s disease)differ substantially between males and *** higher prevalence of these brain disorders has been attributed to females having a greater longevity compared with *** one of the greatest risk factors of acquired brain injury(such as stroke,traumatic brain injury caused by fall)and neurodegenerative disease is age.

BACKGROUND Cytomegalovirus(CMV)infections can cause significant morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised *** targets dysfunctional *** rituximab(RTX)therapy can cause B-lymphocyte dysfunction,increasing CMV ***,CMV infections present with critical illness such as septic *** SUMMARY A 64-year-old African American woman presented with generalized weakness and non-bloody watery diarrhea of 4-6 weeks *** did not have nausea,vomiting or,abdominal *** had been on monthly RTX infusions for neuromyelitis *** was admitted for septic shock due to *** investigations suggested pancytopenia and serology detected significantly elevated CMV *** treatment led to disease *** This case illustrates an extremely rare case of CMV colitis associated with RTX use presenting with septic *** suspicion for rare opportunistic infections is imperative in individuals with long-term RTX use.

This paper originates a discussion on dimensional analysis and scaling in magnetically assisted fluidized beds. Basic examination of process variables, merging mechanical and magnetic units, allows the conversion of mixed sets of variables into unified terms representing surface forces as effects of the fields contributing to the assisted fluidization behaviour. This transformation is termed ＂pressure transform＂ since the new variables are all characteristic pressures generated by three basic fields： gravity, magnetic and fluid flow. This approach addresses the physical basis in terms of dimensionless groups rather than formal algebraic manipulations pertinent to classical dimensional analysis. Basic dimensionless group termed granular magnetic Bond number is introduced as the ratio of characteristic pressures of gravity and of magnetic field. This analysis also provides a set of named dimensionless numbers characterizing magnetic field assisted fluidization such as Filippov number, Rosensweig number, Kwauk number and Siegell number, derived as ratios of characteristic pressures.

The article presents an effort to create dimensionless scaling correlations of the overall bed porosity in the case of magnetically assisted fluidization in a tapered vessel with external transverse magnetic field. This is a stand of portion of new branch in the magnetically assisted fluidization recently created concerning employment of tapered vessels. Dimensional analysis based on ＂pressure transform＂ of the initial set of variables and involving the magnetic granular Bond number has been applied to develop scaling relationships of dimensionless groups representing ratios of pressures created by the fluid flow, gravity and the magnetic field over an elementary volume of the fluidized bed. Special attention has been paid on the existing data correlations developed for non-magnetic beds and the links to the new ones especially developed for tapered magnetic counterparts. A special dimensionless variable Xp = （Ar△Dbt）1/3√RgMQ combining Archimedes and Rosensweig numbers has been conceived for porosity correlation. Data correlations have been performed by power-law, exponential decay and asymptotic functions with analysis of their adequacies and accuracies of approximation.

Magnetically stabilized beds are packed beds subjected to fluid-driven deformation and controlled by magnetically induced interparticle forces. This paper deals with magnetically stabilized beds as deformable porous media and describes their application in dust filtration. The Richardson-Zaki scaling law, U/Ut = ε^n describes the field controlled bed expansion via the exponent n, that yields a porosity-dependent flow length scale dc = dpε^n. The paper addresses two issues：（i） deformation characteristics by assuming homogeneous bed expansion and a definition of bed variable flow length scale; （ii） dust filtration characteristics such as filter coefficient, specific deposit and filtration efficiency expressed in terms of the variable flow length scale and illustrated by experimental data.

This article deals with problems relevant to implementation of magnetically stabilized beds （MSB） as separation devices. The main issues discussed are： bed mechanics, bed structure, possibilities to create controllable filter media, etc. As examples several separation techniques are discussed： dust filtration-magnetic and non-magnetic, ion-exchange, copper cementation, yeast filtration from biological liquids, particle separation by density and magnetic properties, dangerous wastes removal. Only key publications will be quoted that provide a basis for further reading and study and relevant information.

The nanostructure composite coating is obtained via plasma spraying of Al2O3-13 wt pct TiO2 powder. Brittle and hard lamella results from melted nanostructured powder. Ductile nanostructured matrix forms from unmelted nanostructured particles. Through the adjustment of constituent and nanostructure, hardness/strength and toughness/ductility are balanced and overall properties of the structure composite are achieved.

Fiber-reinforced polymer(FRP)bars are widely used as internal reinforcement replacing the conventional steel bars to prevent from *** the different types of FRP bars,basalt FRP(BFRP)bars have been used in different structural applications and,herein,three already tested concrete beams reinforced with BFRP bars are analyzed using three-dimensional(3-D)finite element analysis(FEA).The beams were tested in four-point *** the FEA the behavior of concrete is simulated using the^Concrete-Damaged Plasticity^^model offered in ABAQUS *** research presented here presents a calibrated model for nonlinear FEA of BFRP concrete beams to predict their response considering both the accuracy and the computational *** calibration process showed that the concrete model should be regularized using a mesh-dependent characteristic length and material-dependent post-yield fracture and crushing energies to provide accurate mesh-size independent *** results were compared to the test results with regard to failure load and crack *** the test results and the numerical results were compared to the design predictions of ACI 440.1R-15 and CSA S806-12,where CSA S806-12 seems to overestimate the shear strength for two beams.
