BACKGROUND percutaneous coronary intervention(pCI)of diseased saphenous vein grafts(SVG)continues to pose a clinical *** pCI guidelines give a class III recommendation against performing pCI on chronically occluded ***,contemporary outcomes after SVG intervention have incrementally improved with distal protection devices,intracoronary vasodilators,drug-eluting stents,and prolonged dual antiplatelet *** To reassess the procedural and long-term outcomes of pCI for totally occluded SVG with contemporary *** This was a retrospective observational study conducted at a single university *** study population consisted of 35 consecutive patients undergoing pCI of totally occluded ***-procedure dual antiplatelet therapy was continued for a minimum of one year and aspirin was continued *** outcomes were assessed at a mean follow-up of 1221±1038 *** primary outcome was freedom from a major adverse cardiac event(MACE)defined as the occurrence of any of the following:death,myocardial infarction,stroke,repeat bypass surgery,repeat pCI,or graft *** The study group included 29 men and 6 women with a mean age of 69±12 *** was present in 14(40%)*** patients had Canadian Heart Classification class III or IV *** presentation was an acute coronary syndrome in 34(97%)*** SVG age was 12±5 *** duration of occlusion was acute(patients,subacute(>24 h to 30 d)in 26%,and late(>30 d)in 40%.pCI was initially successful in 29/35 SVG occlusions(83%).Total stent length was 52±35 *** complications of distal embolization or no-reflow occurred in 6(17%)*** longer term follow-up,MACE-free survival was only 30%at 3 years and 17%at 5 *** pCI of totally occluded SVG can be performed with a high procedural success ***,its clinical utility remains limited by poor follow-up outcomes.

The successful application of magnesium(Mg)alloys as biodegradable bone substitutes for critical-sized defects may be comprised by their high degradation rate resulting in a loss of mechanical *** study investigates the degradation pattern of an open-porous fluoride-coated Mg-based scaffold immersed in circulating Hanks’Balanced Salt Solution(HBSS)with and without in situ cyclic compression(30 N/1 Hz).The changes in morphological and mechanical properties have been studied by combining in situ high-resolution X-ray computed tomography mechanics and digital volume *** in situ cyclic compression induced acceleration of the corrosion rate,probably due to local disruption of the coating layer where fatigue microcracks were formed,no critical failures in the overall scaffold were observed,indicating that the mechanical integrity of the Mg scaffolds was *** changes,due to the accumulation of corrosion debris between the scaffold fibres,resulted in a significant increase(ppite an increase in fibre material loss,the accumulated corrosion products appear to have led to an increase in Young’s modulus after 14 days as well as lower third principal strain(εp3)accumulation(-91000±6361μεand-60093±2414μεafter 2 and 14 days,respectively).Therefore,this innovative Mg scaffold design and composition provide a bone replacement,capable of sustaining mechanical loads in situ during the postoperative phase allowing new bone formation to be initially supported as the scaffold resorbs.

A failure criterion fully considering the anisotropy and hydration of shale is essential for shale formation stability ***,a novel failure criterion for hydration shale is developed by using Jaeger’s shear failure criterion to describe the anisotropy and using the shear strength reduction caused by clay minerals hydration to evaluate the *** failure criterion is defined with four parameters in Jaeger’s shear failure criterion(S_(1),S_(2),a andφ),three hydration parameters(k,ω_(sh)andσ_(s))and two material size parameters(d and l0).The physical meanings and determining procedures of these parameters are *** accuracy and applicability of this failure criterion are examined using the published experimental data,showing a cohesive agreement between the predicted values and the testing results,R^(2)=0.916 and AAREp(average absolute relative error percentage)of 9.260%.The error(|D_(p)|)is then discussed considering the effects ofβ(angle between bedding plane versus axial loading),moisture content and confining pressure,presenting that|Dp|increases whenβis closer to 30°,and|D_(p)|decreases with decreasing moisture content and with increasing confining ***,|D_(p)|is demonstrated as being sensitive to S1and being steady with decrease in the data set whenβis 0°,30°,45°and 90°.

Nonlinear optical spectroscopies are powerful tools for investigating both static material properties and light-induced ***(THz)emission spectroscopy has emerged in the past several decades as a versatile method for directly tracking the ultrafast evolution of physical properties,quasiparticle distributions,and order parameters within bulk materials and nanoscale *** optically-induced THz radiation is often analyzed mechanistically in terms of relative contributions from nonlinear polarization,magnetization,and various transient free charge *** this offers material-specific insights,more fundamental symmetry considerations enable the generalization of measured nonlinear tensors to much broader classes of *** thus frame the present discussion in terms of underlying broken symmetries,which enable THz emission by defining a system directionality in space and/or time,as well as more detailed point group symmetries that determine the nonlinear response *** this framework,we survey a selection of recent studies that utilize THz emission spectroscopy to uncover basic properties and complex behaviors of emerging materials,including strongly correlated,magnetic,multiferroic,and topological *** then turn to low-dimensional systems to explore the role of designer nanoscale structuring and corresponding symmetries that enable or enhance THz *** serves as a promising route for probing nanoscale physics and ultrafast light-matter interactions,as well as facilitating advances in integrated THz ***,the interplay between intrinsic and extrinsic material symmetries,in addition to hybrid structuring,may stimulate the discovery of exotic properties and phenomena beyond existing material paradigms.

The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor （ITER） feeder procurement is now well underway. The feeder design has been improved by the feeder teams at the ITER Organization （IO） and the Institute of plasma physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences （ASIpp） in the last 2 years along with analyses and qualification activities. The feeder design is being progressively finalized. In addition, the preparation of qualification and manufacturing are well scheduled at ASIpp. This paper mainly presents the design, the overview of manufacturing and the status of integration on the ITER magnet feeders.

Detection of respiratory viruses and bacteria in children using a twenty-two target reverse-transcription real-time pCR(RT-qpCR)panel

Background:Rapid detection of the wide range of viruses and bacteria that cause respiratory infection in children is important for patient care and antibiotic *** therefore designed and evaluated a readyto-use 22 target respiratory infection reverse-transcription real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-qpCR)panel to determine if this would improve detection of these agents at our pediatric ***:RT-qpCR assays for twenty-two target organisms were dried-down in individual wells of 96 well plates and saved at room *** included 18 respiratory viruses and 4 *** automated nucleic acid extraction of nasopharyngeal aspirate(NpA)samples,rapid qpCR was ***-qpCR results were compared with those obtained by the testing methods used at our hospital ***:One hundred fi fty-nine pediatric NpA samples were tested with the RT-qpCR *** or more respiratory pathogens were detected in 132/159(83%)*** was significantly higher than the detection rate of standard methods(94/159,59%)(pproved RT-qpCR detection of rhinoviruses,parainfl uenza viruses,bocavirus,and *** panel internal control assay performance remained stable at room temperature storage over a two-month testing ***:The RT-qpCR panel was able to identify pathogens in a high proportion of respiratory *** panel detected more positive specimens than the methods in use at our *** pre-made panel format was easy to use and rapid,with results available in approximately 90 *** now plan to determine if use of this panel improves patient care and antibiotic stewardship.
