Lightweight aluminum(Al)alloys have been widely used in frontier fields like aerospace and automotive industries,which attracts great interest in additive manufacturing(AM)to process high-value Al *** a mainstream AM technique,laser-directed energy deposition(LDED)shows good scalability to meet the requirements for large-format component manufacturing and ***,LDED Al alloys are highly challenging due to their inherent poor printability(*** laser absorption,high oxidation sensitivity and cracking tendency).To further promote the development of LDED high-performance Al alloys,this review offers a deep understanding of the challenges and strategies to improve printability in LDED Al *** porosity,cracking,distortion,inclusions,element evaporation and resultant inferior mechanical properties(worse than laser powder bed fusion)are the key challenges in LDED Al *** parameter optimizations,in-situ alloy design,reinforcing particle addition and field assistance are the efficient approaches to improving the printability and performance of LDED Al *** underlying correlations between processes,alloy innovation,characteristic microstructures,and achievable performances in LDED Al alloys are *** benchmark mechanical properties and primary strengthening mechanism of LDED Al alloys are *** review aims to provide a critical and in-depth evaluation of current progress in LDED Al *** opportunities and perspectives in LDED high-performance Al alloys are also outlined.

This study investigated the application of electrical resistance tomography(ERT)in characterizing the slurry spatial distribution in cemented granular materials(CGMs).For CGM formed by self-flow grouting,the voids in the accumulation are only partially filled and the bond strength is often limited,which results in difficulty in obtaining in situ samples for quality ***,it is usually infeasible to evaluate the grouting effect or monitor the slurry spatial distribution by a mechanical *** this research,the process of grouting cement paste into high alumina ceramic beads(HACB)accumulation is reliably monitored with *** shows that ERT results can be used to calculate the cement paste volume in the HACB accumulation,based on calibrating the saturation exponent n in Archie’s *** results support the feasibility of ERT as an imaging tool in CGM characterization and may provide guidance for engineering applications in the future.

The inhomogeneous incompressible Hall-MHD system with only bounded density

This paper is dedicated to the global-in-time existence and uniqueness issues of solutions for the inhomogeneous incompressible Hall-magnetohydrodynamics(MHD) system with merely bounded density. In a three-dimensional case, assuming that the initial density is a small perturbation of a positive constant in the L∞norm, we prove global well-posedness for small initial velocity and magnetic fields in critical Besov spaces. Next, we consider the so-called 21/2D flows for the inhomogeneous Hall-MHD system(that is 3D flows independent of the vertical variable) and establish the global existence of strong solutions by only assuming that the initial magnetic field is small in critical spaces and the initial density is bounded and bounded away from zero. In particular, those solutions allow piecewise constant density with jumps so that a mixture of fluids can be considered. Compared with inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-stokes equations, the new difficulties of proving these results come from the additional so-called Hall term, which endows the magnetic equation with a quasi-linear character. In order to overcome them, we reformulate the system by taking advantage of the curl form of the magnetic equation and develop some new maximal regularity estimates for the stokes system with just bounded coefficients.

Rubik's cube as in-situ programmable matter and a reconfigurable mechanical metamaterial

As part of the 4th industrial revolution, programmable mechanical metamaterials exhibit great application potential in flexible robotics, vibration control, and impact protection. However, maintaining a programmed state without sustaining the external stimulus is often challenging and leads to additional energy consumption. Inspired by Rubik's cube, we design and study an insitu programmable and distribution-reconfigurable mechanical metamaterial(IPDR-MM). A matrix model is developed to model IPDR-MMs and describe their morphological transitions. Based on this model, the reinforcement learning method is employed to find the pathways for morphological transitions. We find that IPDR-MMs have controllable stiffness across several orders of magnitude and a wide range of adjustable anisotropies through morphology transformation. Additionally, because of the independence of the directions of morphology transformation and bearing, IPDR-MMs exhibit good stability in bearing and can readily achieve high stiffness. The Rubik's cube-inspired design concept is also instructive for other deformable structures and metamaterials, and the current version of the proposal should be sufficiently illustrative to attract and broaden interdisciplinary interests.

Total ionizing dose effect modeling method for CMOs digital-integrated circuit

simulating the total ionizing dose(TID)of an electrical system using transistor-level models can be difficult and expensive,particularly for digital-integrated circuits(ICs).In this study,a method for modeling TID effects in complementary metaloxide semiconductor(CMOs)digital ICs based on the input/output buffer information specification(IBIs)was *** digital IC was first divided into three parts based on its internal structure:the input buffer,output buffer,and functional *** of these three parts was separately *** the IBIs model,the transistor V-I characteristic curves of the buffers were processed,and the physical parameters were extracted and modeled using *** the functional area,logic functions were modeled in VHDL according to the data sheet.A golden digital IC model was developed by combining the input buffer,output buffer,and functional area ***,the golden ratio was reconstructed based on TID experimental data,enabling the assessment of TID effects on the threshold voltage,carrier mobility,and time series of the digital *** experiments were conducted using a CMOs non-inverting multiplexer,NC7sZ157,and the results were compared with the simulation results,which showed that the relative errors were less than 2%at each dose *** confirms the practicality and accuracy of the proposed modeling *** TID effect model for digital ICs developed using this modeling technique includes both the logical function of the IC and changes in electrical properties and functional degradation impacted by TID,which has potential applications in the design of radiation-hardening tolerance in digital ICs.
