We previously introgressed Sul-Phl,one of two Aegilops speltoides suppressors of Ph1 gene,into tetraploid durum.wheat cv langdon(LDN).Here,to evaluate its utility for introgression of alien germ.lasm.into durum.wheat,we constructed LDN plants heterozygous for Sul-Ph1 that contained a single LDN chrom.som. 5 B and a single *** chrom.som. 5 S and targeted these two m.nosom.s for *** genotyped 28 BC F and 84 F progeny with the wheat Illum.na 90 K single nucleotide polym.rphism.SNP) assay and detected extensive recom.ination between the two *** on segregation of 237 SNP m.rkers in the BC F population and 220 in the F population we constructed m.ps,which were 65.31 and 63.71 cm.long,*** com.ared recom.ination rates along the hom.eologous chrom.som.s with recom.ination rates along 5 B *** rates between the two hom.eologous chrom.som.s were double the rate expected based on m.iotic pairing between them.which we attributed to selection against aneuploid gam.tes in tetraploid *** rates were sim.lar in the distal region of the long arm.but declined m.re precipitously between hom.eologues than between hom.logues in the proxim.l *** an unknown reason,we obtained alm.st no recom.ination in the short arm.between the *** showed by non-denaturing fluorescence in situ hybridization(ND-FISH) that chrom.som. 5 S was recom.ined with 5 D in the substitution line that was the source of the 5 S chrom.som. in our *** analysis of recom.ination between 5 B and 5 S induced by Su1-Ph1 showed that the suppressor is a valuable tool for inducing gene introgression in tetraploid wheat.
