Whispering gallery mode(WGM)microbubble cavities are a versatile optofluidic sensing platform owing to their hollow core *** increase the light–matter interaction and,thereby,achieve higher sensitivity,thinwalled microbubbles are ***,a lack of knowledge about the precise geometry of hollow microbubbles prevents us from having an accurate theoretical model to describe the WGMs and their response to external *** this work,we provide a complete characterization of the wall structure of a microbubble and propose a theoretical model for the WGMs in this thin-walled microcavity based on the optical waveguide *** characterization of the wavelength-scale wall is enabled by focused ion beam milling and scanning electron microscopy *** proposed theoretical model is verified by finite element method *** approach can readily be extended to other low-dimensional micro-/nanophotonic.structures.

Jujube(Ziziphus jujuba Mill.),or chinese date,is the most important species of Rhamnaceae,a large cosmopolitan family,and is one of the oldest cultivated fruit trees in the *** originates from the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,the‘mother river’of the chinese *** is distributed in at least 48 countries on all continents except Antarctica and is becoming increasingly important,especially in arid and semiarid marginal *** on a systematic analysis of the unique characteristics of jujube,we suggest that it deserves to be recognized as a *** summarized historical research achievements from the past 3000 years and reviewed recent research advances since 1949 in seven fields,including genome sequencing and application,germplasm resources and systematic taxonomy,breeding and genetics,cultivation theory and techniques,pest control,postharvest physiology and techniques,and nutrition and *** on the challenges facing the jujube industry,we discuss eight research aspects to be focused on in the future.

Spondias tuberosa Arruda (umbuzeiro), a Brazilian semiarid plant, is a species of great economic, social, and ecological importance. In folk medicine, the leaves have been used in the treatment of diabetes, inflammation, stomach and uterine pains, and constipation. In this study, the antioxidant properties of ethyl acetate and methanol leaves extracts were evaluated in vitro using different methods: free radicals elimination by DPPH and ABTS assays, and transition metal reduction by phosphomolybdenium assay. In addition, a phytochemical study was also carried out. The methanolic leaves extracts showed the strongest antioxidant activity and the higher values for total phenolic and flavonoids. The results showed that S. tuberosa leaves have antioxidant activity and this seems to be related to the phenolic content.

To evaluate brain involvement in quiescent crohn’s disease (cD) patients with fatigue using quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).METHODSMultiple MRI techniques were used to assess cerebral changes in 20 quiescent cD patients with fatigue (defined with at least 6 points out of an 11-point numeric rating scale compared with 17 healthy age and gender matched controls without fatigue. Furthermore, mental status was assessed by cognitive functioning, based on the neuropsychological inventory including the different domains global cognitive functioning, memory and executive functioning and in addition mood and quality of life scores. cognitive functioning and mood status were correlated with MRI findings in the both study *** glutamate + glutamine (Glx = Glu + Gln) concentrations (P = 0.02) and ratios to total creatine (P = 0.02) were found in cD patients compared with controls. Significant increased cerebral Blood Flow (P = 0.05) was found in cD patients (53.08 ± 6.14 mL/100 g/min) compared with controls (47.60 ± 8.62 mL/100 g/min). cD patients encountered significantly more depressive symptoms (P cognitive functioning scores related to memory (P = 0.007) and executive functioning (P = 0.02) were lower in cD patients and both scores showed correlation with depression and anxiety. No correlation was found subcortical volumes between cD patients and controls in the T1-weighted analysis. In addition, no correlation was found between mental status and MRI *** work shows evidence for perfusion, neurochemical and mental differences in the brain of cD patients with fatigue compared with healthy controls.
