Lens-free on-chip 3D microscopy based on wavelength-scanning Fourier ptychographic diffraction tomography

Lens-free on-chip microscopy is a powerful and promising high-throughput computational microscopy technique due to its unique advantage of creating high-resolution images across the full field-of-view(FOV)of the imaging ***,most current lens-free microscopy methods have been designed for imaging only two-dimensional thin ***-free on-chip tomography(LFOCT)with a uniform resolution across the entire FOV and at a subpixel level remains a critical *** this paper,we demonstrated a new LFOCT technique and associated imaging platform based on wavelength scanning Fourier ptychographic diffraction tomography(wsFPDT).Instead of using angularlyvariable illuminations,in wsFPDT,the sample is illuminated by on-axis wavelength-variable illuminations,ranging from 430 to 1200 *** corresponding under-sampled diffraction patterns are recorded,and then an iterative ptychographic reconstruction procedure is applied to fill the spectrum of the three-dimensional(3D)scattering potential to recover the sample’s 3D refractive index(RI)*** wavelength-scanning scheme not only eliminates the need for mechanical motion during image acquisition and precise registration of the raw images but secures a quasi-uniform,pixel-super-resolved imaging resolution across the entire imaging *** wsFPDT,we demonstrate the high-throughput,billion-voxel 3D tomographic imaging results with a half-pitch lateral resolution of 775 nm and an axial resolution of 5.43μm across a large FOV of 29.85mm2 and an imaging depth of>200μ*** effectiveness of the proposed method was demonstrated by imaging various types of samples,including micropolystyrene beads,diatoms,and mouse mononuclear macrophage *** unique capability to reveal quantitative morphological properties,such as area,volume,and sphericity index of single cell over large cell populations makes wsFPDT a powerful quantitative and label-free tool for high-throughput biological applications.

Comparative Analysis of Diagonal and Centrifugal Compressors with Synergy Theory in Compressed Air Energy Storage System

Low-temperature chemistry in plasma-driven ammonia oxidative pyrolysis

Ammonia is gaining increasing attention as a green alternative fuel for achieving large-scale carbon emission reduction. Despite its potential technical prospects, the harsh ignition conditions and slow flame propagation speed of ammonia pose significant challenges to its application in engines. Non-equilibrium plasma has been identified as a promising method, but current research on plasma-enhanced ammonia combustion is limited and primarily focuses on ignition characteristics revealed by kinetic models. In this study, low-temperature and low-pressure chemistry in plasma-assisted ammonia oxidative pyrolysis is investigated by integrated studies of steady-state GC measurements and mathematical simulation. The detailed kinetic mechanism of NH3decomposition in plasma-driven Ar/NH3and Ar/NH3/O2mixtures has been developed. The numerical model has good agreements with the experimental measurements in NH3/O2consumption and N2/H2generation, which demonstrates the rationality of modelling. Based on the modelling results, species density profiles, path flux and sensitivity analysis for the key plasmaproduced species such as NH2, NH, H2, OH, H, O, O（1D）, O2（a1△g）, O2（b1∑g+）, Ar*, H-, Ar+, NH3+, O2-in the discharge and afterglow are analyzed in detail to illustrate the effectiveness of the active species on NH3excitation and decomposition at low temperature and relatively higher E/N values. The results revealed that NH2, NH, H as well as H2are primarily generated through the electron collision reactions e + NH3→ e + NH2+ H, e + NH3→ e + NH + H2and the excited-argon collision reaction Ar*+ NH3+ H → Ar + NH2+ 2H, which will then react with highly reactive oxidative species such as O2*, O*, O, OH, and O2to produce stable products of NOx and H2O. NH3→ NH is found a specific pathway for NH3consumption with plasma assistance, which further highlights the enhanced kinetic effects.

With the low cost,excellent safety and high theoretical specific capacity,aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZ-IBs)are considered as a potential rival for lithium-ion batteries to promote the sustainable development of large-scale energy storage ***,the notorious Zn dendrites and low Coulombic effi-ciency(CE)limit further development of AZIBs,due to the unstable electrochemical deposition/stripping behavior of Zn anode in aqueous zinc ion *** this review,critical issues and advances are summarized in electrolyte engineering *** strategies are focused on active water molecules during electrochemical process,including high-concentration electrolytes,ionic liquids,gel-polymer elec-trolytes and functional *** suppressed active water molecules,the solvation and de-solvation behavior of Zn^(2+)can be regulated,thereby modulating the electrochemical performance of Zn ***,the inherent problems of these strategies are discussed,and some promising directions are pro-vided on electrolytes engineering for high performance Zn anode in AZIBs.

Iodine enrichment in the groundwater in South China and its hydrogeochemical control

In North China,iodine-rich groundwater has been extensively studied,but few in South *** study aimed to investigate the characteristics of iodine-rich groundwater in South China and identify potential contamination *** results revealed that the average concentration of iodine in groundwater was 890μg/L,with a maximumconcentration of 6350μg/L,exceeding the permitted levels recommended by the World Health Organization(5–300μg/L).Notably,the enrichment of iodide occurred in acidic conditions(pH=6.6)and a relatively low Eh environment(Eh=198.4 mV).Pearson correlation and cluster analyses suggested that the enrichment of iodide could be attributed to the intensified redox process involving Mn(II),iodine(I_(2)),or iodate(IO_(3)^(−))in the *** strong affinity between Mn(II)and I_(2)/IO_(3)^(−)facilitated their interaction,resulting in the formation and mobilization of I^(−)from the soil to the *** experiments further confirmed that reducing substances(such as sodium sulfides,ascorbic acids,and fulvic acids)in the soil with low dissolved oxygen(DO)levels(3.8 mg/L)promoted the oxidation of I^(−)into I_(2)or IO_(3)^(−),leading to its *** research provides new insights into the characteristics and mechanisms of I^(−)enrichment in groundwater in South China,and emphasizes the significance of the redox reactions involving Mn(II)and I_(2)/IO_(3)^(−),as well as the influence of soil properties in regulating the occurrence and transportation of iodine species within groundwater systems.

Fault Estimation for a Class of Markov Jump Piecewise-Affine Systems: Current Feedback Based Iterative Learning Approach

In this paper, the issues of stochastic stability analysis and fault estimation are investigated for a class of continuoustime Markov jump piecewise-affine(PWA) systems against actuator and sensor faults. Firstly, a novel mode-dependent PWA iterative learning observer with current feedback is designed to estimate the system states and faults, simultaneously, which contains both the previous iteration information and the current feedback mechanism. The auxiliary feedback channel optimizes the response speed of the observer, therefore the estimation error would converge to zero rapidly. Then, sufficient conditions for stochastic stability with guaranteed performance are demonstrated for the estimation error system, and the equivalence relations between the system information and the estimated information can be established via iterative accumulating ***, two illustrative examples containing a class of tunnel diode circuit systems are presented to fully demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed iterative learning observer with current feedback.

The practical application of high-energy-density lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries have been highly praised for energy storage devices,while are largely hindered by the“shuttling effect”.Herein,core-shell carbon spheres composed of interlinked porous core and lamellar shell were designed to restrain the polysulfide *** microporous structure with pore size of around 1 nm effectively trap lithium ***,the interconnected porous core shortens the ion transfer distance and the lamellar carbon shell endows the carbon spheres with fast electron conduction,finally facilitating polysulfide conversion ***,the Li-S batteries with the carbon spheres as the interlayer show high discharge specific capacity of 1002 m Ah/g at 2 C with 574 m Ah/g remaining after 600 cycles,and high areal capacity of 5.48 m Ah/cm^(2) with sulfur loading of 4.67 mg/cm^(2) at 0.1 *** corresponding pouch cells also exhibit stable cycling stability with an initial discharge specific capacity of 1082 m Ah/g at 0.1 C.

High-resolution recognition of FOAM modes via an improved EfficientNet V2 based convolutional neural network

Vortex beam with fractional orbital angular momentum (FOAM) is the excellent candidate for improving the capacity of free-space optical (FSO) communication system due to its infinite modes. Therefore, the recognition of FOAM modes with higher resolution is always of great concern. In this work, through an improved EfficientNetV2 based convolutional neural network (CNN), we experimentally achieve the implementation of the recognition of FOAM modes with a resolution as high as 0.001. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time this high resolution has been achieved. Under the strong atmospheric turbulence (AT) (C_(n)^(2)=10^(-15)m^(-2/3)), the recognition accuracy of FOAM modes at 0.1 and 0.01 resolution with our model is up to 99.12% and 92.24% for a long transmission distance of 2000 m. Even for the resolution at 0.001, the recognition accuracy can still remain at 78.77%. This work provides an effective method for the recognition of FOAM modes, which may largely improve the channel capacity of the free-space optical communication.

Sex-specific facilitation and reproduction of the gynodioecious cushion plant Arenaria polytrichoides on the Himalaya-Hengduan mountains,SW China

When benefiting other beneficiaries,cushion plants may reciprocally receive feedback *** feedback effects on different sex morphs,however,remains *** this study,taking the gynodioecious Arenaria polytrichiodes as a model species,we aimed to assess the sex-specific facilitation intensity of cushion plant by measuring the beneficiary cover ratio,and to assess the potential costs in cushion reproductive functions by measuring the flower and fruit cover *** total beneficiary cover ratio was similar between females and *** produced much less flowers but more fruits than *** results suggested that females and hermaphrodites possess similar facilitation intensity,and female cushion *** may allocate more resources saved from pollen production to seed production,while hermaphrodites possibly allocate more resources to pollen production hence reducing seed *** surface areas covered by beneficiaries produced less flowers and fruits than areas without *** addition,strong negative correlations between beneficiary cover and flower cover were detected for both females and hermaphrodites,but the correlation strength were similar for these two sex ***,the correlation between beneficiary cover and fruit cover was only significantly negative for females,suggesting that beneficiary plants negatively affect fruit reproduction of females while have neutral effects on *** the results suggest that to facilitate other beneficiaries can induce reproductive costs on cushion ***,with females possibly suffering greater cost than *** differentiation in reproductive costs between sex morphs,in long-term perspective,may imply sex imbalance in population dynamics.
