Driving mechanisms of nitrogen transport and transformation in lacustrine wetlands

As an essential component of proteins and genetic material for all organisms, nitrogen(N) is one of the major limiting factors that control the dynamics, biodiversity and functioning of lacustrine wetlands, in which intensified N biogeochemical activities take place. Reactive N loaded into wetland ecosystems has been doubled due to various human activities, including industrial, agricultural activities and urbanization. The main driving mechanisms of N transport and transformation in lacustrine wetlands are categorized to pushing forces and pulling forces in this study. Geomorphology, wetland age, N concentrations, and temperature are the main pushing forces(passive forces); whereas water table variation, oxygen concentration, other elements availability, oxidation-reduction potential(Eh) and p H, and microorganisms are the predominant pulling forces(active forces). The direction and kinetic energy of reactions are determined by pulling forces and then are stimulated by pushing forces. These two types of forces are analyzed and discussed separately. Based on the analysis of driving mechanisms, possible solutions to wetland N pollutions are proposed at individual, regional and global scales, respectively. Additional research needs are addressed to obtain a thorough understanding of N transport and transformations in wetlands and to reduce detrimental impacts of excessive N on such fragile ecosystems.

Improvements to hydrogen depleting and monitoring system for Chinese Pressurized Reactor 1000

We evaluate the hydrogen depletion ability of the hydrogen depletion system for Chinese Pressurized Reactor 1000(CPR1000), which has been applied in nuclear power plants with pressurized water reactors;moreover, we introduce a new device that can continuously monitor hydrogen concentration inside the CPR1000 containment building. Experimental studies show that a moveable hydrogen autocatalytic recombiner alone can sufficiently deplete hydrogen under the condition of a design-basis accident, and 33 passive autocatalytic recombiners placed in the areas of high hydrogen concentration satisfy the hydrogen depletion requirements under the condition of a beyond-design-basis ***, the hydrogen concentration monitoring system is designed and installed based on the approach of detecting the temperature increase caused by the catalytic reaction of hydrogen. In conclusion, the hydrogen depletion capacity of the CPR1000 meets the requirements, and the system's safety can be enhanced by the improved hydrogen concentration monitoring system.

Beneficial effects of intermittent hypobaric hypoxia on the body

Myocardial ischemia and reperfusion(I/R) is a common problem in clinic and there is no satisfactory method for prevention or treatment of I/R injury so *** intermittent hypobaric hypoxia(CIHH),similar to the concept of ischemia preconditioning(IPC)or altitude hypoxia adaptation(AHA),has been recognized to confer a protective effect on heart against I/R injury with a longer protective effect than IPC and a less adverse effect than *** has been proved that CIHH increases myocardial tolerance to ischemia or hypoxia,reserving cardiac function and preventing arrhythmia during I/*** mechanisms or pathway underlying the cardiac protection of CIHH have been proposed,such as induction of heatshock protein,enhancement of myocardial antioxidation capacity,increase of coronary flow and myocardial capillary angiogenesis,activation of adenosine triphosphate(ATP)-sensitive potassium channels,inhibition of mitochondrial permeability transition pores,and activation of protein kinase C(PKC) and induced nitric oxide synthase(iNOS).In addition,CIHH has been found having many beneficial effects on the body,such as promotion of health,increase of oxygen utilization,and prevention or treatment for some *** beneficial effects of CIHH and potential mechanisms are reviewed mainly based on the researches performed by our group.

Dynamical Running Mass of Quark in the Dyson-Schwinger Equation Approach

Based on the Dyson-Schwinger equations of QCD in the "rainbow" approximation, the fully dressed quarkpropagator Sf(p) is investigated, and then an algebraic parametrization form of the propagator is obtained as a solutionof the equations. The dressed quark amplitudes Af and Bf built up the fully dressed quark propagator and the dynamicalrunning masses Mf defined by Af and Bf for light quarks u, d and s are calculated, respectively. Using the predictedrunning masses Mf, quark condensates = -(0.255 GeV)a for u, d quarks, and = 0.8<0|q(0)q(0)]0)for s quark, and experimental pion decay constant fπ = 0.093 GeV, the masses of Goldstone bosons K, π, and η are alsoevaluated. The numerical results show that the masses of quarks are dependent on their momentum p2. The fully dressedquark amplitudes Af and Bf have correct behaviors which can be used for many purposes in our future researches onnonperturbative QCD.

Historical biogeography and evolutionary diversification of Lilium(Liliaceae): New insights from plastome phylogenomics

Here, we infer the historical biogeography and evolutionary diversification of the genus Lilium. For this purpose, we used the complete plastomes of 64 currently accepted species in the genus Lilium(14plastomes were newly sequenced) to recover the phylogenetic backbone of the genus and a timecalibrated phylogenetic framework to estimate biogeographical history scenarios and evolutionary diversification rates of Lilium. Our results suggest that ancient climatic changes and geological tectonic activities jointly shaped the distribution range and drove evolutionary radiation of Lilium, including the Middle Miocene Climate Optimum(MMCO), the late Miocene global cooling, as well as the successive uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP) and the strengthening of the monsoon climate in East Asia during the late Miocene and the Pliocene. This case study suggests that the unique geological and climatic events in the Neogene of East Asia, in particular the uplift of QTP and the enhancement of monsoonal climate, may have played an essential role in formation of uneven distribution of plant diversity in the Northern Hemisphere.

Change of MicroRNA-134,CREB and p-CREB expression in epileptic rat

Objective:To To investigate the changes of MicroRNA-134,CREB and p-CREB expression in epileptic rat brains in order to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of epilepsy,providing new ideas for clinical ***:Sixty-four Spraque-Dawley(SD)rats were divided into groups randomly,including control group,six hours after seizure group,24-hour group,threeday group,one-week group,two-week group,four-week group,and eight-week *** groups were placed under a pilocarpine-induced epilepsy model except the control group,and all rats were decapitated in different points of *** specimens were taken for quantitative PCR experiments,immunohistochemistry and Western blot *** results of the epilepsy model groups and the control group were ***:There were no significant differences between the six hours after seizure group,the 24-hour group and the control group about the MicroRNA-134 ***-134 in the hippocampus tissue of the three-day group significantly reduced compared with the control group;same result was observed with the one-week,two-week,four-week and eight-week *** CREB and p-CREB levels in the three-day group's rat hippocampus significantly increased compared with the control group;and the high levels of CREB and p-CREB were constantly maintained in the one-week,two-week,four-week and eight-week ***:The MicroRNA-134 level of the epileptic rat hippocampus is significantly lower than normal after three days,and continues to maintain a low level:while CREB and p-CREB levels are rsignificantly increased after three days,and continue to remain at a high ***-134 plays a role in inhibiting synaptic plasticity by inhibiting CREB and p-CREB expressions.

Effects of temperature and solar radiation on yield of good eating-quality rice in the lower reaches of the Huai River Basin,China

We studied the effects of temperature and solar radiation on rice yield with the aim of understanding the temperature and solar radiation requirements for high yield rice production in the lower reaches of the Huai River,*** experiments were conducted with two medium-maturing japonica rice(MMJR)varieties and four late-maturing japonica rice(LMJR)varieties in 2017 and *** were sown on May 10(T1),May 17(T2),May 24(T3),May 31(T4),June 7(T5),June 14(T6),and June 21(T7).The whole growth duration(WGD)of rice was shortened when sowing date was delayed,especially for the duration from sowing to heading(S–H).The effective accumulated temperature(EAT),mean daily temperature(Tmean),cumulative solar radiation(CSR),and mean daily solar radiation(Rmean)over the WGD decreased when sowing date was *** with T1,yields in T2,T3,T4,T5,T6,and T7 decreased by 0.12–0.35,0.45–0.89,0.74–1.56,1.41–2.24,2.16–2.90,and 2.69–3.64 t ha^(-1),*** was a significant positive correlation between rice yield and EAT in different growth *** was the main factor that affected the yield of good eating-quality rice in the lower reaches of the Huai *** found that a relatively high yield can be obtained when the optimal Tmean for medium-maturing japonica rice(MMJR)and late-maturing japonica rice(LMJR)was 25.8–27.0℃and 26.6–27.1℃in the stages from sowing to heading(S–H),and 20.3–23.3℃and 20.3–22.1℃in the stages from heading to maturity(H–M),*** optimal sowing dates for MMJR and LMJR in the lower reaches of the Huai River were May 15–31 and May 15–18,respectively.

Recent Advances of CuAAC Click Reaction in Building Cyclic Polymer

Cyclic polymers have attracted more and more attentions in recent years because of their unique topological structures and characteristic properties in both solution and bulk state. There are relatively few reports on cyclic polymers, partly because of the more demanding synthetic procedures. In recent years, 'click' reaction, especially Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition(CuAAC), has been widely utilized in the synthesis of cyclic polymer materials because of its high efficiency and low susceptibility to side reactions. In this review, we will focus on three aspects:(1) Constructions of monocyclic polymer using CuAAC 'click' chemistry;(2) Formation of complex cyclic polymer topologies through CuAAC reactions;(3) Using CuAAC 'click' reaction in the precise synthesis of molecularly defined macrocycles. We believe that the CuAAC click reaction is playing an important role in the design and synthesis of functional cyclic polymers.

A new alkylene dihydrofuran glycoside with antioxidation activity from the root bark of Morus alba L.

A new alkylene dihydrofuran glycoside（1） was isolated from the root bark ofMorus alba L.,along with moracin M-3′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside （2）,and moracin M-6,3′-di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside（3）.Compound 1 was identified as 2-methylene-3-methoxy-2, 5-dihydrofuran-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic data including 1D and 2D NMR spectral *** addition,the antioxidant activity of 1 was evaluated using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl（DPPH） and 2,2′-azinobis- 3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid（ABTS） *** IC_（50） values were 2.49 and 0.45 mg/mL,respectively.
