The oxidation behaviour of a fourth-generation single-crystal superalloy without coating and with two types of MCrAlY coatings at 1140℃was *** results showed that both coatings greatly improved the oxidation resistance of the superalloy,and the addition of Hf further improved the oxidation resistance by pinning the oxide layer into the *** and after oxidation,obvious Cr and Al interdiffusion was *** Cr diffusion induces the precipitation of a topologically close-packed phase,while the diffusion of Al affects the structure of theγ/γ’phase,the solubility of refractory elements,and the formation of an interdiffusion zone.

Mortality is a well-established patient-important outcome in critical care *** contrast,morbidity is less uniformly reported(given the myriad of critical care illnesses and complications of each)but may have a common end-impact on a patient’s functional capacity and health-related quality-of-life(HRQoL).Survival with a poor quality-of-life may not be acceptable depending on individual patient values and ***,as mortality decreases within critical care,it becomes increasingly important to measure intensive care unit(ICU)survivor *** measurements with a preference-based scoring algorithm can be converted into health utilities on a scale anchored at 0(representing death)and 1(representing full health).They can be combined with survival to calculate quality-adjusted life-years(QALY),which are one of the most widely used methods of combining morbidity and mortality into a composite *** QALYs have been use for health-technology assessment decision-making,an emerging and novel role would be to inform clinical decision-making for patients,families and healthcare providers about what expected HRQoL may be during and after ICU *** care randomized control trials(RCTs)have not routinely measured or reported HRQoL(until more recently),likely due to incapacity of some patients to participate in patient-reported outcome *** differences in HRQoL measurement tools can lead to non-comparable *** this end,we propose the validation of a gold-standard HRQoL tool in critical care,specifically the *** combined health-utility and mortality(disaggregated)and QALYs(aggregated)can be reported,with disaggregation allowing for determination of which components are the main drivers of the QALY *** use of HRQoL,health-utility,and QALYs in critical care RCTs has the potential to:(1)Increase the likelihood of finding important effects if they exist;(2)improve research efficiency;and(3)help inform optimal m

This paper investigates spatial decay bounds and a decay rate for the time- dependent Stokes flow of a viscous fluid in a semi-infinite channel. We show how to obtain a near optimal decay rate that is independent of the Reynolds number. We also show that a modification to an analysis given in the literature and a better choice of arbitrary constants yield a decay rate 1.328, which is clearly an improvement compared to 0.91 obtained in the referenced work.

In this paper a concept of 'leading probability' is presented. The difference in the leading probability between ferrite and cementite depends mainly upon the difference between their driving forces at the beginning of precipitation. The results of theromdynamic calculations showed that the leading probability of cementite increased with the increase of carbon concentration of austenite, and the decrease in transformation temperature was favourable to cementite's being the leading nucleus during pearlite transformation.

The spatial decay of solutions to initial-boundary value problems for a semilinear parabolic equation in a semi-infinite cylinder of variable cross-section subject to zero condition on the lateral boundaries is investigated. A second-order differential inequality that shows the spatial decay O（exp（-z2/（4（t ＋ t0）））） for an L2p cross-sectional measure of the solution is obtained. A first-order differential inequality leading to growth or decay is also derived. In the case of growth, an upper bound for blow-up in space is obtained, while in the case of decay an upper bound for the total energy in terms of data is obtained.

This paper investigates the asymptotic behavior of end effects for a Stokes flow defined on a three-dimensional semi-infinite cylinder. With homogeneous Dirichlet conditions of the velocity on the lateral surface of the cylinder, solutions either grow or decay exponentially in the distance from the finite end of the cylinder. In the case of decay, the effect of perturbing the equation parameters is also investigated.

Chinese utilities as well as those worldwide are facing increased demand for additional electricity, reduced plant emissions and greater efficiency. To meet this challenge will require increasing boiler temperature, pressure and coal ash corrosion resistance of the materials of boiler construction of future coal-fired boilers. A new nickel-based tube alloy, INCONEL^R alloy 740, is described aiming at meeting this challenge. Emphasis will be on describing the alloy＇ s mechanical properties, coal-ash and steam corrosion resistance. Microstructural stability as a function of temperature and time is addressed as well as some of the early methodology em- ployed to arrive at the current chemical composition.
