The Tan Rai Bauxite Project, which exploits a large bauxite mine in Lam Dong province, Vietnam has been in operation since 2012. In addition to the economic efficiency of the project, bauxite mining and processing uses a large area arable land and affect the regional environment. Remote sensing technology is increasingly widely used in many purposes in monitoring the changes of environment and resources, including land use change with high accuracy, giving managers more information to monitor the exploitation and use process of land resource. this study used a Change Vector Analysis (CVA) method of analysis on various remote sensing data sources to monitor the process of land exploitation and restoration of the Tan Rai Bauxite project. High-resolution remote sensing images were used as diverse as SPOT-5, VNREDSat-1, Google Earth from 2013 to 2019 to demonstrate the ability of the MCVA method to combine many other types of remote sensing images together. The results of fluctuation analysis were validated by 200 random points in the study area, and the accuracy of result is more than 90%. The results of land use change statistics were also compared with the annual data of Tan Rai Bauxite Factory. From this study, it can be concluded that the MCVA analysis method can quickly detect land use change areas and can combine many different image sources with a high accuracy. In addition, it also provides statistics of mining areas and restored areas, thereby assisting managers in monitoring the operation of the mine.

Green tea is a popular product with a high consumption in Vietnam. Moreover, green tea produced in Tan Cuong commune, Thai nguyen province, has long been recognized for its superior quality to those coming from other regions of the country. this study aims at comparing the tea from Thai nguyen and Phu Tho and finding out if the difference can be identified through sensory analysis. Two products picked from Tan Cuong, Thai nguyen province, and two others from Phu Ho district, Phu Tho province were evaluated by a trained panel of 12 judges （11 women and 1 man）. The sensory evaluation of the dry tea （11 descriptors） was carried out separately from the brewed tea （21 descriptors） and brewed leaf （five descriptors） using an unstructured intensity scale （10 cm）. Statistic analyses have shown differences between regions in all three groups of attributes： dry leaf, liquor and brewed leaf.

The Huang-Huai-hai Plain is the most important winter wheat and maize production region in *** response to the increasing population pressure,the Chinese authorities strongly invested in improving the irrigation systems and increasing ground and surface water exploitation within the plain to increase the crop *** resulted in a reduction of water resource availability and in turn indirectly affected the suitability of various agricultural ecosystems in the *** main purpose of this study was to review the suitability of temperature and precipitation for the winter wheat and summer maize cropping system in the Huang-Huai-hai Plain,in order to provide a preliminary irrigation *** analysis provides a first attempt to enhance the water resource management as well as to increase the water use *** this aim,a GIS-based multicriteria analysis procedure has been developed consisting of（1） definition of objectives（evaluated entities） and database building;（2） definition of evaluation criteria;（3） standardization of the criteria;（4） combination of the criteria;（5） classification of the objectives;and（6） integration of the *** land suitability classification maps were transformed into maps of required irrigation amounts for each growing stage of the winter wheat and summer maize cropping *** study also exemplified the limitations and proposed future research activities that will improve the detail and accuracy of the evaluation results.

Urban flooding has impacted siginficantly on people＇s living： economic development, environmental pollution, etc.. It has been the serious problem of many cities in file world, especially in urban areas in developing countries because urbanization is too fast but lack of adaptive management planning and infrastructure. In Vietnam, the big cities, such as HCM （Ho Chi Minh） City, hanoi, etc. have also been influenced severely by floods. By early 2017, HCM City has 171 flooded sites assigned by the district level; 40 submergence points assigned by Steering Center of Flooding Control Program, and 9 tidal flooded points. The paper will establish a suitable method for assessing flood vulnerability in HCM City from natural, social and environmental aspects. The results of a case study in District 6 show that there are four wards with high vulnerability and 10 wards with average vulnerability.

Biological Community in Submerged Caves and Marine Lakes in ha Long-Cat Ba Area, Vietnam

Submerged caves and marine lakes are two iconic and common ecosystems in ha Long-Cat Ba area. However, their biological characteristics are poorly known since very limited studies have been conducted, The aim of this study was to investigate biodiversity in these ecosystems. Three submerged caves （hang Sang, hang Toi and Qua Bang） and three marine lakes （Dau Be, Ang Du and Qua Bang） were chosen for study. The results showed that organism communities in submerged caves were abundant with over 142 species found. The popular groups comprised sponge and soft coral which were distributed along the length of the caves. Several species with high economic value were widespread in the caves, including stone crab Myomenippe hardwickii, flower crab Portunus pelagicus, cone snails Trochus pyramis, shoemaker spinefoot Siganus sutor, snapper Lutjanus russellii. Species that permanently live in caves were not detected. In the lakes where water is well exchanged to the sea, coral reefs were found and they usually formed a narrow band around the lakes. Sandy beaches were often observed around the lakes at the depths of 0.5-2 m, containing specialty species as clam （Sanguinolaria diphos）, snout otter clam （Lutraria rhychaena）, sea cucumbers with high density （in Dau Be, Qua Bang）. There was no coral reef in the enclosed lake （Ang Du） because of low salinity.

A distributed conceptual model(FRASC(Flow Routed Accumulation Simulation in a Catchment))has been developed,in which a rainfall-runoff module is modified from an original lumped conceptual model(Xinanjiang)via a GIS(Geographic Information System)-aided approach and a water allocation module contains reservoirs,water users and hydropower *** model is relatively easy to use and can easily obtain input data,but still has the ability to generate hydrological information at many points within a *** model application to the Be River basin is evaluated and shows to be reliable in terms of close agreements between simulated and observed *** natural flow rates for 36 years are simulated at 7,981 grid cells within a studied area of 7,650 km^*** on this simulated database,design discharges are predicted in various ***,the research determines that the water transfer capacity from the Be River basin to the Saigon River basin reaches 14%,18% and 23% of a planned value of 75 m^3/s during the dry period in a wet year(P10%),average year(P50%)and dry year(P90%),respectively.

The research for sustainable poverty reduction for Khmer ethnic people in Tra Vinh province was conducted by the use of statistic approach, the current situation of poor households of Khmer ethnic people in Tra Vinh province, the interview with 300 Khmer households living in seven districts and cities of Tra Vinh province. Research findings show that there are a number of factors affecting the income of Khmer households, including the career of householders, the level of education, the ratio of dependants, living experience of the householders, the land square area, people＇s participation in different festivals; the number of household members, the number of activities for income and the gender of the householders. Of all the factors, occupation, level of education, and the ratio of dependants are considered to have the biggest influence on the income of Khmer ethnic people in Tra Vinh province.

The ongoing pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus,SARS-CoV-2,is influencing global ***,there is a major threat of future coronaviruses affecting the entire world in a similar,or even more dreadful,***,effective and biocompatible therapeutic options against coronaviruses are urgently *** address this challenge,medical specialists require a well-informed and safe approach to treating human coronaviruses(HCoVs).Herein,an environmental friendly approach for viral inactivation,based on plasma technology,was considered.A microwave plasma system was employed for the generation of the high amount of gaseous nitric oxide to prepare nitric oxide enriched plasma-activated water(NO-PAW),the effects of which on coronaviruses,have not been reported to *** determine these effects,alpha-HCoV-229E was used in an experimental *** found that NO-PAW treatment effectively inhibited coronavirus infection in host lung cells,visualized by evaluating the cytopathic effect and expression level of spike ***,NO-PAW showed minimal toxicity towards lung host cells,suggesting its potential for therapeutic ***,this new approach resulted in viral inactivation and greatly improved the gene levels involved in host antiviral ***,our findings provide evidence of an initiation point for further progress toward the clinical development of antiviral treatments,including such coronaviruses.

Evaluation of high yielding soybean germplasm under water limitation

Limited information is available for soybean root traits and their plasticity under drought stress. To date, no studies have focused on examining diverse soybean germ- plasm for regulation of shoot and root response under water limited conditions across varying soil types. In this study, 17 genetically diverse soybean germplasm lines were selected to study root response to water limited conditions in clay （trial 1） and sandy soil （trial 2） in two target environments. Physiological data on shoot traits was measured at multiple crop stages ranging from early vegetative to pod filling. The phenotypic root traits, and biomass accumulation data are collected at pod filling stage. In trial 1, the number of lateral roots and forks were positively correlated with plot yield under water limitation and in trial 2, lateral root thickness was positively correlated with the hill plot yield. Plant Introduction （PI） 578477A and 088444 were found to have higher later root number and forks in clay soil with higher yield under water limitation, in sandy soil, P1458o2o was found to have a thicker lateral root system and higher yield under water limitation. The genotypes identified in this study could be used to enhance drought tolerance of elite soybean cultivars through improved root traits specific to target environments.
