Objective:To assess the influences of the knowledge of parents about hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection and the benefit of HBV vaccination on the practice of HBV vaccination among ***:A prospective cross-sectional study recruited parents whose children,aged 12-24 months,received HBV vaccination at Commune Health Centers(CHCs)in Ho Chi Minh City from Feb.2016 to *** were interviewed using a questionnaire that included 11-item binary knowledge questions and checked their children’s vaccination ***:A total of 768 parents had a mean age of(30.8±5.1)*** mean knowledge score of the 11-item questions was(7.0±2.4).The knowledge score was positively associated with full and timely HBV *** addition,children who received complete and timely HBV vaccination were significantly more likely to live in rural areas(Adjusted OR 4.02,95%CI 2.79-5.79,P<0.001).Also,children whose parents received vaccination information from health care providers,and had knowledge about HBV risk,had a higher rate of full and timely HBV vaccination(Adjusted OR 1.60,95%CI 1.13-2.29,and Adjusted OR 1.47,95%CI 1.01-2.13,P all<0.05).Conclusions:Parents possessed a great deal of incorrect knowledge about *** health education from health care providers should target parents living in specific locations and focus on the benefits of HBV vaccine.

The aim of this work was to study the influence of CaCO3 in both tensile and flexural mechanical properties of a PET(polyethylene terephthalate)/PP(polypropylene).Four compositions of PET/PP/CaCO3 blend were prepared by injection molding with CaCO3 content of 0,2,4 and 6 wt%.The samples were cut according to the ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)standard and tested by using universal testing *** results show that the mechanical properties of the PET/PP/CaCO3 composites with 2%and 4 wt%of CaCO3 composition were better than that of the PET/PP *** the content of CaCO3 is 6 wt%,the serious phase separation between PET and PP resulted in poor mechanical properties of the PET/PP/CaCO3 *** study shows that CaCO3 has played a role to improve the tensile and flexural properties of the mixing product if it is present only in a small amount.

Background: Despite the success of National Action Plan on Nutrition program in reducing malnutrition among children under 5 years old in Vietnamin recent years, the rate of malnutrition inVietnamremains higher than that rate in other surrounding countries. The rate is especially high in mountainous areas. this study aims to explore the association between the mother’s nutrition care practice and the nutritional status of their children. Methods: 400 Children under 5 years of age and their mothers from Thanh Hoa—a Northern Province of Vietnam were included in this survey. Weight and height of the children were measured. Information related to the mother’s knowledge and practices pertaining to child health care and nutrition was collected. Results: The malnutrition rate was 29.3% by weight for age score (WAZ), 28.3% by height for age score (HAZ) and 10.0% by weight for height score (WHZ). 27.3% of mothers discarded the colostrum milk. 21.3% of children were fed with chewing rice before breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding up to four months was 17.8% and exclusive breastfeeding rates for 6 months or more was 8.6%. Weaning practice before four months of age was 53.7%. There was an association between malnutrition with mother’s ethnic group, and the frequency of consumption of protein rich food. Conclusion: Malnutrition of ethnic minority children under five years of age is still a public health problem in the central mountainous areas ofVietnam. Inappropriate breastfeeding and weaning practice among ethnic minority women were associated with this high rate. Further effort should continue to improve the nutrition status of ethnic minority children under 5 years of age. Customized, culturally adapted interventions for ethnic minority women to strengthen their nutrition care knowledge, attitude and practice, especially breastfeeding and weaning practice are the key to achieving better nutrition status of their children.

Background: Men who have sex with men (MSM) are disproportionately affected by HIV in Vietnam. Regardless of international and national agencies’ efforts, the HIV epidemic in MSM has been increasing in recent years. Novel and evidence-based HIV antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) maybe needed to combat the HIV epidemic among this population in Vietnam. this study aims to identify how MSM accept the use of PrEP as an HIV prevention method and their ability to pay for it. Method: this is a cross-sectional study of 373 MSM seeking HIV testing in a community-based HIV clinic in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from January to April 2016. Potential participants were briefly informed about ethical considerations, screened for eligibility, and signed an informed consent form when selected. Face-to-face interviews were conducted by the clinic’s staff. Descriptive and analytical analysis was performed by STATA 13.0. Results: Of 373 participants, only 92 men (24.7%) reported having known about PrEP. Out of 360 men who were questioned about their acceptance of PrEP as an HIV prevention method, 274 (76.1%) embraced the use of PrEP. The median maximum affordable monthly PrEP cost was one million Vietnam dong (VND) (equivalent to US$43) and the median average affordable monthly PrEP cost was 0.5 million VND (approximately $21.7). The majority of men (68.8%) could afford an average of less than $43 a month for PrEP. Conclusion: There is a relatively high level of PrEP acceptance among MSM in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. To increase PrEP acceptance, raising awareness and understanding of PrEP is recommended. To expand PrEP interventions in Vietnam, the target population’s ability to pay should be a key focus.

BACKGROUND: Portopulmonary hypertension (PPH) is defined as the development of pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with increased pulmonary vascular resistance complicated by portal hypertension, with or without advanced hepatic disease. In spite of the relatively rare prevalence, the clinical implications of PPH are significant. It has high perioperative morbidity and mortality. this review is an update of current pathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy of PPH. DATA SOURCES: An English-language literature search was conducted using PubMed (1980-2006) on portopulmonary hypertension. RESULTS: Echocardiographically identified patients with elevated pulmonary artery systolic pressure (>50 mmHg) receive right heart catheterization. Epoprostenol (prostacyclin), a potent pulmonary and systemic vasodilator with anti-platelet aggregating activity, and bosentan, an endothelin receptor antagonist, have so far proven beneficial to patients with PPH. CONCLUSIONS: After an accurate diagnosis of PPH treatment should (at a minimum) focus on reduction of mean pulmonary arterial pressure to less than 35 mmHg prior to orthotopic liver transplantation. However, orthotopic liver transplantation currently remains the only therapy to resolve PPH.

Tropical lotus(Nelumbo) is an important and unique ecological type of lotus *** the genetic relationship and diversity of the tropical lotus is necessary for its sustainable conservation and *** 42 EST-SSR(expressed sequence tag-simple sequence repeats) and 30 SRAP(sequence-related amplified polymorphism) markers,we assessed the genetic diversity and inferred the ancestry of representative tropical lotus from Thailand and *** total,164 and 41 polymorphic bands were detected in 69 accessions by 36 EST-SSR and seven SRAP makers,*** genetic diversity was revealed in Thai lotus than in Vietnamese lotus.A Neighbor-Joining tree of five main clusters was constructed using combined EST-SSR and SRAP *** Ⅰ included 17 accessions of Thai lotus;cluster Ⅱ contained three Thai accessions and 11 accessions from southern Vietnam;and cluster Ⅲ was constituted by 13 accessions of seed *** with the results from the NeighborJoining tree,the genetic structure analysis showed that the genetic background of most Thai and Vietnamese lotus was pure,as artificial breeding has been rare in both ***,these analyses indicate that Thai and Vietnamese lotus germplasms belong to two different gene pools or *** lotus accessions are genetically related to geographical distribution patterns in Thailand or *** findings showed that the origin or genetic relationships of some unidentified lotus sources can be evaluated by comparing morphological characteristics and the data of molecular *** addition,these findings provide reliable information for the targeted conservation of tropical lotus and parent selection in breeding novel cultivars of lotus.

In this paper, we shall describe the way in which some Vietnamese people cope with death and dying. Authors surveyed approximately 302 relative people in the north of Vietnam. The sample showed broad demographic variation. Among respondents, 73% were female and 27% were male. The instrument shows a good reliability of the total scores (Cronbach’s α= 0.93). Both exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis are used. The model tested was a relatively simple model with three latent factors. They are belief, fear, and ritual and all of them are positive correlated. The relationships among factors are further analyzed and the mediating relationships are found.
