Suicide is the second leading cause of death in youth globally; however, there is unc.r.ainty about how best to intervene. Suicide rates are typically higher in males than females, while the converse is true for suicide attempts. We review this "gender paradox" in youth, and in particular, the age-dependency of these sex/gender differences and the developmental mechanisms that may explain them. Epidemiologic, genetic,neurodevelopmental and psychopathological research have identified suicidal behaviour risks arising from genetic vulnerabilities and sex/gender differences in early adverse environments, neurodevelopment, mental disorder and their complex interconnections. Further, evolving sex-/gender-defined social expectations and norms have been thought to influence suicide risk. In particular, how youth perceive and cope with threats and losses(including conforming to others' or one's own expectations of sex/gender identity) and adapt to pain(through substance use and helpseeking behaviours). Taken together, considering brain plasticity over the lifespan, these proposed antecedents to youth suicide highlight the importance of interventions that alter early environment(s)(e.g., childhood maltreatment) and/or one's ability to adapt to them. Further, such interventions may have more enduring protective effects, for the individual and for future generations, if implemented in youth.

Polyborate distribution in aqueous B（OH）3 solutions at 298.15 K was calculated using measured pH and literature equilibrium constants. A systematic study on the structure, stability and raman spec.r. of the H3BO3 hydrated clusters, [H3BO3（H2O）n, n=1-14], was probed by DFT in both gaseous and aqueous phase at B3LYP/aug-cc-p VDZ level. All of these stable configurations were described and the most stable hydrated clusters were chosen. The micro-hydration process of H3BO3 was described in detail: when n≤6, only the equatorial hydration exists in small hydration cluster;when n≥7, the axial hydration happens;when n≥12, a fully hydration structure forms with 1 axial hydration water and 9 equatorial hydration water. Transition state（TS） of H3BO3 dissociation in aqueous solution has also been located using transit-guided quasi-newton method, indicating the axial hydration is the "powder hose" for the H3BO3 dissociation. The predicted equilibrium intra-B-O distance varies from 1.38 to 1.43  at the present level of theory. The equatorial hydration distance ranges from 0.32 to 0.37 nm and the axial hydration distance from 0.16 to 0.18 nm with the saturated hydration number of 10. The cPMD simulation shows that only the first hydration sphere can be found, and the hydration distance is 3.65 with the hydration number about 11.8. The results reveal a good agreement with the micro-hydration from ab initio and the time-space averaged structure from X-ray scattering.

The determination of the aerosol particle size distribution function using the particle spec.r.m extinction equation is an ill-posed integral equation of the first *** overcome the ill-posedness,regularization techniques such as Phillips-Twomey ’s regulanzation, Tikhonov’s smooth regularization as well as some iterative methods were ***,most of the literature focuses on improving the solvability of the problem without introducing some useful a priori information,which are essential to ill-posed inverse problems,since it is known that,we are often faced with limited/insufficient observations in remote ***,we restudy this *** first formulate the problem in l space and solve a nonnegative constrained problem to obtain a useful a priori solution,then we use this solution to reformulate the problem in l space and solve a regularized *** results are based on the remotely sensed data by Sun-photometer cE 318 for Poyang lake region of Jiangxi Province and are performed to show the efficiency and feasibility of the proposed algorithms.

XMM-newton observation of the eclipsing binary Algol

We present an XMM-newton observation of the eclipsing binary Algol which contains an X-ray dark B8V primary and an X-ray bright K2IV secondary. The observation covered the optical secondary eclipse and captured an X-ray flare that was eclipsed by the B star. The XMM-newton European Photon Imaging camera and reflection Grating Spec.r.meter spec.r. of Algol in its quiescent state are described by a two-temperature plasma model. The cool component has a temperature around 6.4× 106 K while that of the hot component ranges from 2 to 4.0× 107 K. c.r.nal abundances of c, N, O, Ne, Mg, Si and Fe were obtained for each component for both the quiescent and the flare phases, generally with upper limits for S and Ar, and upper limits for c, N, and O from the hot component. F-tests show that the abundances do not need to be different between the cool and the hot component and between the quiescent and the flare phase with the exception of Fe. Although the Fe abundance of the cool component remains constant at -0.14, the hot component shows an Fe abundance of -0.28, which increases to -0.44 during the flare. This increase is expected from the c.r.mospheric evaporation model. The absorbing column density NH of the quiescent emission is 2.5 - 1020 cm-2, while that of the flare-only emission is significantly lower and consistent with the column density of the interstellar medium. This observation substantiates earlier suggestions of the presence of X-ray absorbing material in the Algol system.
