Benefits of Using CBCT in Bilateral Maxillary Impacted Canines Extraction:A Case Report

Aim: Canines are the second most impacted teeth in jaws after third molars. Perforation of the anatomic structures, such as maxillary sinus and nasal fossa, are some of the complications of the surgery. In this case, bilateral maxillary impacted canines’ extraction, with the guidance of CBCT is done without any complication. Case: A 24-year-old female patient was referred to Istanbul University, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Left and right deciduous canines and swelling at the right maxillary canine’s labial area were seen during the intraoral examination. Bilateral impacted canines were determined after evaluating the present CBCT images of the patient and orthodontic treatment was advised to the patient. Due to the refusal of orthodontic treament, extractions of the impacted teeth were decided. After the evaluation of CBCT images, the maxillary right canine was determined at the labial site while the maxillary left canine was determined at the palatinale site. Results: Right maxillary canine was lying between the right first incisor and right first molar and It was extracted with mucoperiosteal vestibule flap procedure. For the extraction, the tooth was divided into two pieces from the enamel-cement junction. Left maxillary canine was lying between the left first incisor and left first molar and It was extracted with mucoperiosteal palatinale flap procedure. Flap was stitched primarly with 3/0 silk sutures. Palatinal plaque, which was prepared before the surgery, was applied. Antibiotic, analgesic and moutwash were prescribed to the patient. 1 week following the surgery, stitches were removed and the healing was optimal. Conclusion: Impacted canines are a common clinic condition which requires a multi-discipliner approach. CBCT can increase the success of the treatment by preventing possible complications with determining the proximity of the anatomical structures and the localization of the impacted teeth. Changes in Alveolar Bone Width Following Bone Expansion

The placement of implants in edentulous areas is often compromised because of atrophic alveolar ridges. Several techniques have been suggested in the literature to increase inadequte bone width which includes bone grafting, distraction osteogenesis and bone expansion. Bone expansion technique is one of the most widely used methods which can also be utilized to increase the width of alveolar ridge and to provide sufficient bone volume for implant placement. The purpose of this study, is to measure the increase of the width of alveolar ridge after bone expansion following implant placement. Between 2013-2016, 30 consecutive, healthy, non-smoking, adult patients with atrophy of the maxilla and mandibula had 149 implants inserted. There were 18 women and 12 men, mean age 51.34 years (range 34 - 67). The initial width of the alveolar ridge measured from 2.5 to 3 mm (mean 2.83 ± 0.2) with Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The mean increase of bone width was achieved 1.25 mm (between 0.64 mm and 1.73 mm). Before prosthetic rehabilitation, width of expanded alveolar bone was calculated from 3.50 to 4.75 mm with CBCT. During follow-up, 140 implants survived and 9 implants failed. The rate of implant survival was 93.95% after average 5 years follow-up. In conclusion, we suggest that, bone expansion is useful for managing the unsufficient ridges for implant placement.

Umbilical cord derived mesenchymal stem cell implantation in retinitis pigmentosa: a 6-month follow-up results of a phase 3 trial

AIM:To investigate the efficacy and the safety of umbilical cord derived mesenchymal stem cell(UC-MSC)implantation in patients with retinitis pigmentosa(RP).METHODS:This prospective,single-center,phase 3 clinical study enrolled 124 eyes of 82 RP *** patients received 5 million UC-MSCs to the suprachoroidal area with a surgical *** were evaluated on the 1st day,1st,and 6th months *** corrected visual acuity(BCVA),anterior segment and fundus examinations,color photography,optical coherence tomography(OCT),and visual field(VF)tests were carried out at each *** fluorescein angiography(FFA)and multifocal electroretinography(mfERG)recordings were performed at the end of the 6th *** and systemic adverse events of the surgical procedure were also ***:All of the 82 patients completed the 6-month follow-up *** of them had any serious systemic or ocular *** were statistically significant improvements in BCVA and VF during the study(all P<0.05).The amplitudes of the P1 waves in the central areas showed significant improvements in mfERG *** were also significant increases in implicit times of P1 waves in the central ***:Suprachoroidal administration of UC-MSCs has beneficial effect on BCVA,VF,and mfERG measurements during the 6-month follow-up *** mediated therapy based on the secretion of growth factors(GFs)seems to be an effective and safe option for degenerative retinal diseases.

In this study,voltammetric and spectroscopic investigation of the interaction between Janus Green B（JGB） and bovine serum albumin（BSA） was *** interaction was observed at Britton-Robinson buffer（pH 7.0）.When JGB was added to solution containing BSA,the peak currents of BSA decrease with the increasing of JGB concentrations which is due to the interaction of JGB and *** binding constant of JGB with BSA was obtained by voltammetric ***,this interaction was supported by means of UV-vis spectroscopic *** UV-vis absorption spectra of JGB in the presence of BSA decrease with the increasing of BSA concentrations.

Traditional manufacturing of clay brick used in the historical buildings of Diyarbakir （Turkey）

Clay brick is the most common construction materia（ used in the historical buildings of Diyarbaklr （Turkey）. Many clay brick manufacturing workshops and numerous brick masters have emerged. Diyarbakir currently has two clay brick workshops that face the problem of being closed down. Therefore, manufacturing of clay brick by traditional methods may be forgotten in Diyarbakir. This study investigates the manufacturing phases of traditional clay bricks in Diyarbakir＇s local workshops, which have not been documented. The manufacturin8 phases of the clay bricks in Diyarbaklr were examined for the first time based on in-situ observations, investigations, and interviews. The research indicated the general phases of clay brick manufacturing. Raw materials are first prepared, formed, and dried. The firing of clay bricks is then performed through hacking, heating, burning, coolins, and de-hacking. The clay bricks are finally packaged and dispatched. The traditional manufacturing of clay brick methods in Diyarbaklr is similar in many regions of the world. The clay bricks are currently and extensfvely used in the restoration of historic structures. Therefore, their production must be continuous.

This study presents a large family of the traveling wave solutions to the two fourth-order nonlinear partial differential equations utilizing the Riccati-Bernoulli sub-ODE *** this method,utilizing a traveling wave transformation with the aid of the Riccati-Bernoulli equation,the fourth-order equation can be transformed into a set of algebraic *** the set of algebraic equations,we acquire the novel exact solutions of the integrable fourth-order equations presented in this research *** physical interpretation of the nonlinear models are also detailed through the exact solutions,which demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented *** Bäcklund transformation can produce an infinite sequence of solutions of the given two fourth-order nonlinear partial differential ***,3D graphs of some derived solutions in this paper are depicted through suitable parameter values.

Novel markers in predicting Brucella sacroiliitis:The platelet large cell ratio and basal immature reticulocyte fraction

Objective:To present platelet large cell ratio(P-LCR),reticulocyte,and immature reticulocyte fraction(IRF)values as novel parameters in diagnosis and response to treatment in patients developing ***:Sixty-eight patients with clinical symptoms and Brucella standard tube agglutination(Wright)or Brucella Coombs agglutination test titers≥1:160 were included in the *** groups were established,one developing sacroiliitis and another with no sacroiliitis development.P-LCR,reticulocyte,and IRF levels were measured using a Sysmex XN-9000 device(Japan).These were then compared between the two ***:Reticulocyte(P=0.037)and IRF(P=0.026)levels were significantly lower among the patients developing sacroiliitis compared to the non-sacroiliitis group,while P-LCR(P=0.003)levels were significantly higher.P-LCR had the most powerful correlation with sacroiliitis *** negative correlation was observed between reticulocyte,IRF levels and ***:Elevated P-LCR levels were observed as a marker of persisting inflammation in patients developing sacroiliitis,while low reticulocyte and IRF levels secondary to bone marrow involvement were *** three parameters emerged as highly significant markers in terms of diagnosis and reflecting responses to treatment in organ involvement such as sacroiliitis in *** are presented as inexpensive,and easily accessible novel parameters.

Leptin treatment ameliorates acute lung injury in rats with cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis

AIM:To determine the effect of exogenous leptin on acute lung injury (ALI) in cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis (AP). METHODS:Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into 3 groups. AP was induced by intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of cerulein (50 μg/kg) four times,at 1 h intervals. The rats received a single i.p. injection of 10 μg/kg leptin (leptin group) or 2 mL saline (AP group) after cerulein injections. In the sham group,animals were given a single i.p. injection of 2 mL saline. Experimental samples were collected for biochemical and histological evaluations at 24 h and 48 h after the induction of AP or saline administration. Blood samples were obtained for the determination of amylase,lipase,tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a,interleukin (IL)-1β,macrophage inflammatory peptide (MIP)-2 and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule (sICAM)-1 levels,while pancreatic and lung tissues were removed for myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity,nitric oxide (NOx) level,CD40 expression and histological evaluation. RESULTS:Cerulein injection caused severe AP,confirmed by an increase in serum amylase and lipase levels,histopathological findings of severe AP,and pancreatic MPO activity,compared to the values obtained in the sham group. In the leptin group,serum levels of MIP-2,sICMA-1,TNF-a,and IL-1b,pancreatic MPO activity,CD40 expression in pancreas and lung tissues,and NOx level in the lung tissue were lower compared to those in the AP group. Histologically,pancreatic and lungdamage was less severe following leptin administration. CONCLUSION:Exogenous leptin attenuates inflammatory changes,and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines,nitric oxide levels,and CD40 expression in ceruleininduced AP and may be protective in AP associated ALI.
