Production and Optimization of <i>Pseudomonas fluorescens</i>Biomass and Metabolites for Biocontrol of Strawberry Grey Mould

Pseudomonas species have been widely studied as biological agents (BCAs) and it is alternative to the application of chemical fungicides. Our objective was to optimize nutritional and environmental conditions of the isolated Pseudomonas fluorescens fp-5 for biomass and metabolites production and to evaluate itsagainst the grey mould disease caused by Botrytis cinerea on strawberry plants under field conditions. Pseudomonas fluorescens, showed antagonistic properties, in vitro, against thepathogen Botrytiscinerea. Effect of the separated secondary metabolites on the fungal growth by broth dilution technique and antifungal activity by agar well diffusion technique was studied. Response surface methodology was used to investigate the effects of four fermentation parameters (pH, incubation time, carbon and nitrogen concentrations) on biomass and bioactivemetabolites [antibiotic phenazin and siderophore] production. Glycerol was found to be the best carbon source for improved biomass and metabolites production. Meanwhile, peptone and yeast extract were found to be the best nitrogen source. Analysis of each formulation revealed that glycerol oil at 0.01% the best oil used for protect P. fluorescens for 3 months Under natural condition, P. fluorescens formulation was effective in reducing B. cinerea disease in strawberry leaves and fruits. Pre-harvest treatment protected fruits from Botrytis post-harvest disease in comparing of fungicide. In addition, the obtained results showed that bacterial treatment significantly increased thegrowth parameters as well as dry weights and yield.

The el Minia governorate lies within the Nile Valley,surrounded by calcareous plateaus to the east and *** present study focuses on the hydrogeochemistry of the Eocene limestone aquifer at some wadis in the east el Minia governorate,Eastern Desert,***,two main aquifers are encountered in the study area,namely the Maghagha marly limestone and the Samalut chalky limestone *** Maghagha aquifer is composed of alternating layers of marly limestone and shale with thicknesses ranging from 3.49 m to 177.05 m and a groundwater depth ranging from 8.5 m to 59.27 m which reflects low groundwater *** groundwater salinity representing this aquifer ranges from 603.5 mg/L to 978.5 mg/L,reflecting fresh water *** aquifer is made up of chalky,cavernous and fractured limestone with thickness ranging from 30 m to 205 m and groundwater depth ranging from 9 m to 86.77 m,which indicates good groundwater *** groundwater salinity of the concerned aquifer ranges from 349.7 mg/L to 2043.9 mg/L,reflecting fresh to possibly brackish water *** in the study area is of meteoric water origin;recent recharge is mainly controlled through the presence of fractures and their *** majority of groundwater samples in the study area are suitable for drinking and irrigation purposes.

The Value of High Antistreptolysin O Titre as an Indicator of Tonsillectomy in Upper Egypt

Background: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the benefit of performing of tonsillectomy in patients with raised serum ASO titre only in absence or presence of group A beta heamolytic streptococci (GABHS) in throat swab. Materials and methods: In this prospective cohort study, 196 patients below the age of 14 were suffering from non-specific streptococcal infections, without fulfilling the clinical parameters used for the diagnosis of chronic tonsillitis 156 patients had a raised ASO titre above 200 iu/ml. Throat swab culture was performed in all patients. Results: The results showed that out of the 156 patients, 52 had positive throat swab for GABHS. All of the patients underwent tonsillectomy. Follow-up of the patients for one year after the operation, 88% of the first group with high ASO titre and positive throat swab showed improvement of symptoms;25% of the second group with high ASO titre and negative throat swab showed improvement of symptoms. Conclusion: Our study shows that isolation of GABHS from the patients tonsils by throat swab along with high ASO titre may be an indication of tonsillectomy in absence of any other indications.

Moringa oleifera is well known as a highly nutritious plant and a water purifier in fish *** fish has many impressive qualities making them very suitable for ***,this study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementation of Moringa oleifera aqueous extract(MOAE)at varying concentrations(0,100,200,and 400 mg/kg diet for 90 days)on growth performance,hematological,and some biochemical parameters of Nile ***,histological changes and immunohistochemical expression of caspase 3 in gills and livers were *** enhancements(Pells,hemoglobin,packed cell volume,white blood cells,and total serum protein were observed in fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet compared with other ***,a significant reduction(Pells indicating severe apoptotic ***,a dietary MOAE at 200 mg/kg diet is recommended to improve the growth performance,hematological parameters,liver and kidney functions in Nile ***,caution must be considered when using MOAE at a concentration over 200 mg/kg diet.

Directional Overcurrent Relays Coordination Restoration by Reducing Minimum Fault Current Limiter Impedance

FCL （fault current limiter） is used to solve relays miscoordination problem arises from DG （distributed generation） installation. In most published researches, different optimization methods are developed to obtain optimal relay settings to achieve coordination in case of not installing DG, then depending on the achieved optimal obtained relay settings, FCL impedance is deduced to ensure relays coordination restoration in case of installing DG. Based on original optimal relay settings, obtained FCL impedance is not the minimum one required to achieve relay coordination. The contribution of this paper is the generation of multi sets of original relay settings that increase the possibility of finding FCL impedance of minimum value which is lower than the calculated value based on original optimal relay settings. The proposed method achieves better economic target by reducing FCL impedance. The proposed approach is implemented and tested on IEEE-39 bus test system.

The Numerical Solution of the MRLW Equation Using the Multigrid Method

In this paper, we obtained the numerical solutions of the modified regularized long-wave (MRLW) equation, by using the multigrid method and finite difference method. The solitary wave motion, interaction of two and three solitary waves, and development of the Maxwellian initial condition into solitary waves are studied using the proposed method. The numerical solutions are compared with the known analytical solutions. Usingerror norms and conservative properties of mass, momentum and energy, accuracy and efficiency of the mentioned method will be established through comparison with other techniques.

Fast and accurate plant disease detection is critical to increasing agricultural productivity in a sustainable ***,human experts have been relied upon to diagnose anomalies in plants caused by diseases,pests,nutritional deficiencies or extreme ***,this is expensive,time consuming and in some cases *** counter these challenges,research into the use of image processing techniques for plant disease recognition has become a hot research *** this paper,we provide a comprehensive review of recent studies carried out in the area of crop pest and disease recognition using image processing and machine learning *** hope that this work will be a valuable resource for researchers in this area of crop pest and disease recognition using image processing *** particular,we concentrate on the use of RGB images owing to the low cost and high availability of digital RGB *** report that recent efforts have focused on the use of deep learning instead of training shallow classifiers using handcrafted *** have reported high recognition accuracies on particular datasets but in many cases,the performance of those systems deteriorated significantly when tested on different datasets or in field ***,progress made so far has been *** results showing the leaf disease recognition performance of ten CNN architectures in terms of recognition accuracy,recall,precision,specificity,F1-score,training duration and storage requirements are also ***,recommendations are made on the most suitable architectures to deploy in conventional as well as mobile/embedded computing *** also discuss some of the unresolved challenges that need to be addressed in order to develop practical automatic plant disease recognition systems for use in field conditions.

A Comparative Study between Sub Mucous Diathermy with or without Inferior Partial Turbinectomy

Objective: In this study we aimed to compare the effects of submucosal cauterization of the inferior turbinate with or without inferior partial turbinectomy. Materials and methods: In this prospective cohort study, 60 patients with inferior turbinate hypertrophy were randomized and divided into two groups. The first one was submitted to submucosal cauterization associated with partial turbinectomy, and the second one only submucous cauterization. Five items were assessed to compare both methods: pain, nasal bleeding, scarring, crustation and nasal air way patency. Follow-up was performed on days 1, 14, 30 and 3 months later. Results: In both groups crusting formation was similar. Reactionary hemorrhage was more common in turbinectomy group. Scarring showed better results in the turbinectomy group in the first month postoperative, airway patency showed good results in 80% of the patients with turbinectomy. Conclusion: Submucosal cauterization with inferior partial turbinectomy has yielded better nasal patency when compared to submucosal electrocautery ablation alone.

Endoscopic Assisted Microscopic Skull Base Surgery

Background: Skull base tumors presented great challenge for neurosurgeons since decades due to their deep location, associated morbidity and limitation of operative field;however modern neurosurgery using the endoscope and/or the microscope served in minimizing peri-operative morbidities and improving the clinical outcome. Objective: To demonstrate the value of endoscope-assisted microsurgical technique for resection of skull base tumors. Patients and Methods: 30 patients divided into 3 groups (10 patients had medial sphenoid wing meningioma constituted group 1, 10 patients had suprasellar meningioma constituted group 2 and 10 patients had Cerbello-Pontine Angle (CPA) epidermoids constituted group 3) were operated through Endoscope Assisted Microscopic Skull Base Surgery technique at Al-Azhar University Hospitals during the period starting from January 2016 till the end of September 2017 using a rigid endoscope for inspection of tumor boundaries and neighboring vascularity in addition to confirm the extent of resection. Tumor resection was tried in all cases. Intra-operative resection rate and post-operative radiological outcomes were assessed. Results: Total gross resection was possible in 27 patients (90%). Subtotal resection was done in the other 3 cases (recurrent medial sphenoid wing meningiomas) due to excessive bleeding and adhesions of the tumors with vascular structures. Total resection of the tumor in post operative radiology was obtained in 24 patients (80%) and post-operative residual tumor was noticed in 6 patients in early post operative radiology and in only 3 cases at 3 months follow up radiology. Conclusion: Endoscopic-assisted microsurgical approach is a reliable, safe and effective option for adequate surgical resection of skull base tumors.
