Sporadic versus hereditary gastrinomas of the duodenum and pancreas: Distinct clinico-pathological and epidemiological features

Gastrinomas are defined as gastrin secreting tumors that are associated with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome （ZES）. ZES is characterized by elevated fasting gastrin serum levels, positive secretin stimulation test and clinical symptoms such as recurrent peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease and occasional diarrhea. Genetically, nonhereditary （sporadic） gastrinomas are distinguished from hereditary gastrinomas, which are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 （MEN1） syndrome. In general, duodenal gastrinomas are small and solitary if they are sporadic and multiple as well as hereditary. The sporadic gastrinomas occur in the duodenum or in the pancreas while the hereditary gastrinomas almost all occur in the duodenum. Our series of 77 sporadic duodenal neuroendocrine tumors （NETs） includes 18 patients （23.4%） with gastrinomas and ZES. Of 535 sporadic NETs in the pancreas collected from the NET archives of the departments of pathology in Zürich, Switzerland, and Kiel, Germany, 24 patients （4.5%） suffered from sporadic pancreatic gastrinomas and ZES. These NETs have to be distinguished from tumors with immunohistochemical positivity for gastrin but without evidence of ZES. An additional 19 patients suffered from MEN1 and ZES. These patients showed exclusively duodenal gastrinomas, but not pancreatic gastrinomas. The prognosis of sporadic and MEN1- associated duodenal gastrinomas is better than that of pancreatic gastrinomas, since they progress slowly to liver metastasis. In summary, sporadic and MEN1- associated gastrinomas in the duodenum and pancreas show different clinico-pathological and genetic features. The incidence of sporadic duodenal gastrin-producing tumors is increasing, possibly due to optimized diagnostic procedures. In contrast, pancreatic MEN1- associated gastrinomas seem to be extremely rare. Background Since 2010,most tertiary care hospitals in Australia have changed how they care for extremely premature ***,in-hospital and longer-term outcome data have suggested unchanged or even worse health outcomes in later epochs,especially respiratory *** study examined the trend in outcomes since these changes were introduced,particularly the prevalence of chronic neonatal lung disease(CLD).Methods This is a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of data from the Neonatal Intensive Care Units'(NICUS)database of all perinatal intensive care units in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory,including infants born at≥24 and≤28 weeks of gestational age in tertiary perinatal units between January 1,2010,and December 31,*** trends and changes in primary outcome were examined by linear and adjusted multivariable logistic regression *** This study included 3258 *** saw significant changes in antenatal magnesium sulfate(75% increase),delayed cord clamping(66% increase),delivery room intubations(30% decrease),any time(20% decrease),duration on mechanical ventilation(100-hour decrease),and hours on noninvasive ventilation(200-hour increase).Mortality decreased from 17% to 6%.The incidence of CLD increased significantly even when adjusted for confounders(15% increase).Any time and mean hours spent on mechanical ventilation significantly increased the odds of *** study could not find a significant association of any of the protective antenatal treatments on *** The last decade saw a significant improvement in survival and survival to discharge without major *** was increased use of magnesium sulfate,delayed cord clamping,and less invasive respiratory management of extremely preterm *** avoidance of mechanical ventilation may impact the incidence of CLD.

Currently,in the era of big data and 5G communication technology,electromigration has become a serious reliability issue for the miniaturized solder joints used in microelectronic *** the effective charge number(Z*)is considered as the driving force for electromigration,the lack of accurate experimental values for Z* poses severe challenges for the simulation-aided design of electronic *** this work,a data-driven framework is developed to predict the Z* values of Cu and Sn species at the anode based LIQUID,Cu_(6)Sn_(5) intermetallic compound(IMC)and FCC phases for the binary Cu-Sn system undergoing electromigration at 523.15 *** growth rate constants(kem)of the anode IMC at several magnitudes of applied low current density(j=1×10^6 to 10×10^6A/m^2)are extracted from simulations based on a 1D multi-phase field model.A neural network employing Z* and j as input features,whereas utilizing these computed kemdata as the expected output is *** results of the neural network analysis are optimized with experimental growth rate constants to estimate the effective charge *** a negligible increase in temperature at low j values,effective charge numbers of all phases are found to increase with current density and the increase is much more pronounced for the IMC *** predicted values of effective charge numbers Z* are then utilized in a 2D simulation to observe the anode IMC grain growth and electrical resistance changes in the multi-phase *** the work consists of the aspects of experiments,theory,computation,and machine learning,it can be called the four paradigms approach for the study of electromigration in Pb-free *** a combination of multiple paradigms of materials design can be problem-solving for any future research scenario that is marked by uncertainties regarding the determination of material properties.

Proteomics as a tool to gain next level insights into photo-crosslinkable biopolymer modifications

The distribution of photo-crosslinkable moieties onto a protein backbone can affect a biomaterial’s crosslinking behavior, and therefore also its mechanical and biological properties. A profound insight in this respect is essential for biomaterials exploited in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In the present work, photo-crosslinkable moieties have been introduced on the primary amine groups of: (i) a recombinant collagen peptide (RCPhC1) with a known amino acid (AA) sequence, and (ii) bovine skin collagen (COL BS) with an unknown AA sequence. The degree of substitution (DS) was quantified with two conventional techniques: an ortho-phthalic dialdehyde (OPA) assay and ^(1)H NMR spectroscopy. However, neither of both provides information on the exact type and location of the modified AAs. Therefore, for the first time, proteomic analysis was evaluated herein as a tool to identify functionalized AAs as well as the exact position of photo-crosslinkable moieties along the AA sequence, thereby enabling an in-depth, unprecedented characterization of functionalized photo-crosslinkable biopolymers. Moreover, our strategy enabled to visualize the spatial distribution of the modifications within the overall structure of the protein. Proteomics has proven to provide unprecedented insight in the distribution of photo-crosslinkable moieties along the protein backbone, undoubtedly contributing to superior functional biomaterial design to serve regenerative medicine.

已有研究表明电子口碑对消费者购买决策具有积极影响。根据AJzen(1991)计划行为理论,在线购买一个产品的行为意图可通过三因素预测:即行为态度、主观规范、自我效能。研究表明,脸书电子口碑对在线消费者的购买行为产生了影响。因此,如果有人发现他的脸谱网的好友在脸谱网上喜欢或者推荐某个产品/品牌,他或她很有可能会购买那个品牌的产品,或者仍然买另一个品牌。该研究报告是对分布在比利时的10个省份的脸谱网专页进行了调查。共有389名受访者参与了调查,其中377人居住在比利时。居住在比利时的377名受访者中,有211名女性,166名男性。受访者接到的调查任务是从1到7项来选择他们是否同意调查表上具体的陈述。调查结果显示,脸谱网的推荐品牌或者脸谱网好友所喜爱的品牌,对消费者的行为态度、认知和购买意图起到了积极影响。脸谱网的推荐使得消费者更喜欢某种产品,认为这种产品具有优良的品质,他们很可能会购买这种产品。网上电子口碑对消费者的认知的影响是非常明显的。他们会更相信产品的质量,最后很可能会购买这种产品。主观规范似乎对在线消费者的行为具有很大的影响,这意味着营销人员应该经常核对消费者在脸谱网推荐他们的产品或品牌的次数,还要核对他们关于产品的描述。因此,营销人员可以用这份推荐的内容放在他们的网店上。最终,社会认同将为他们工作。

综合介绍了比利时根特大学Magnel实验室与其他合作单位关于微生物与建筑材料（混凝土和石材）之间相互作用的研究概况。第一个研究课题是生物硫酸腐蚀，主要研究混凝土下水道系统和储肥设施的侵蚀。整个过程可用纯化学或微生物侵蚀实验来模拟。利用化学硫酸实验来模拟侵蚀过程的缺点是忽视了混凝土本身的杀菌效果。微生物实验结果表明使用具有高度中和能力的材料可限制生物腐蚀的发生。因此，生物硫酸侵蚀模型中不但需要考虑耐久性（如孔隙率），也需要把混凝土碱性列为参数之一。第二个研究课题是细菌在胶结固化和混凝土自修复中的应用。细菌诱导产生的碳酸钙用于水泥基材料和石灰石的表面防护。研究表明：沉积在表面的生物碳酸钙可有效降低混凝土吸水率、碳化和氯离子侵蚀；还能提高混凝土抗冻融性能。多孔石灰石表面固化深度可达到30mm甚至更多，固结区的强度可增加300％。与此同时，微生物碳酸钙也被应用于混凝土裂缝自修复。细菌先被固载于硅藻土或微胶囊内，然后加入到混凝土中与其一起搅拌。结果显示：加有硅藻土固载的细菌的砂浆试块上0．15～O．17mitt宽的裂缝可在40d内被细菌诱导产生的碳酸钙完全修复；而加有微胶囊固载的细菌的试块上1rnm宽的裂缝可以在3周内自修复完毕。微生物在混凝土中的另一个应用是创造绿色生态混凝土墙壁。这种混凝土墙壁经过特殊设计获得特定的微观结构和生物兼容性，从而可充当生物生长的基体。为了适于生物生长，使用低pH值的磷酸镁水泥混凝土和碳化水泥混凝土，并对其他影响生物兼容性的因素如混凝土孔隙率、表面粗糙度等进行了优化研究。
