Predicting an Athlete’s Physiological and Haematological Response to Live High-Train High Altitude Training Using a Hypoxic sensitivity Test

Purpose Elite endurance runners frequently utilise live high-train high(LHTH)altitude training to improve endurance per-formance at sea level(sL).Individual variability in response to the hypoxic exposure have resulted in contradictory *** the present case study,changes in total haemoglobin mass(tHbmass)and physiological capacity,in response to 4-weeks of LHTH were *** tested if a hypoxic sensitivity test(HsT)could predict altitude-induced adaptations to *** Fifteen elite athletes were selected to complete 4-weeks of LHTH(~2400 m).Athletes visited the laboratory for preliminary testing(PRE),to determine lactate threshold(LT),lactate turn point(LTP),maximal oxygen uptake VO_(2max)and *** LHTH,athletes completed daily physiological measures[arterial oxygen saturation(spO2)and body mass]and subjective wellbeing *** was repeated,for those who completed the full camp,post-LHTH(POsT).Additionally,athletes completed the HsT prior to *** A difference(Ps found from PRE to POsT in average tHbmass(1.8%±3.4%),VO_(2max)(2.7%±3.4%),LT(6.1%±4.6%)and LTP(5.4%±3.8%),after 4-weeks *** revealed a decrease in oxygen saturation at rest(Δsp_(r))and higher hypoxic ventilatory response at rest(HVRr)predicted individual changes *** hypoxic cardiac response at rest(HCRr)and higher HVRr predicted individual changes VO_(2max).Conclusion Four weeks of LHTH at~2400 m increased tHbmass and enhanced physiological capacity in elite endurance *** was no observed relationship between these changes and baseline characteristics,pre-LHTH serum ferritin levels,or reported incidents of musculoskeletal injury or *** HsT did however,estimate changes in tHbmass and VO_(2max).HsT prior to LHTH could allow coaches and practitioners to better inform the acclimatisation strategies and train-ing load application of endurance runners at altitude.

Artificial Intelligence ChatGPT’s Perspective on Implementation of Augmented Intelligence within Orthopaedic Practice—A Comparative Narrative synthesis?

ChatGPT has obvious benefits in the way it can interrogate vast amounts of reference information and utilise metadata generation to answer questions posed to it and is freely available having been developed through human feedback. Already there are ethical and practical implications on its impact on learning and research. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been seen as a way of improving healthcare provision by delivering more robust outcomes but measuring these and implementing AI within this setting is at present limited and disjointed. Methods: ChatGPT was interrogated to see what it felt were the barriers to its implementation within healthcare and in particular orthopaedic practice. The evidence for this determination was then examined for validity and applicability for a practical roll out at a Trust, Regional or National level. Results: AI can synthesise a vast amount of information to help it answer specific questions. The context and structure of any question will determine the usefulness of the answer which can then be used to develop practical solutions based on experience and resource limitations. Conclusions: AI has a role in service development and can quickly focus a working group to areas to consider when practically implementing change.

Purpose: Diet and eating habits are major risk factors for the health and the development of disease, such as, for example, metabolic disorder leading to cardiovascular pathology and cancer, decreased immunity exposing to infections. This study of the physico-chemical and nutritional properties of a soumara-based food broth was carried out with the aim of promoting the consumption of organic broth made from nere seeds (soumara). That is to alleviate certain metabolic diseases, which is a matter of food safety, and also to limit the risk for the health about the consumption of some cooking stocks on the market. Methods: several natural ingredients such as nere seeds (soumara), ginger, black pepper, parsley and garlic were used to create a nere-based stock. All these ingredients were freeze-dried and the powder obtained was used to make the broth, regarding their physical and chemical properties. Results: The broth had a good protein content of 17.41 ± 0.367 g/100g, a lipid content of 16.80 ± 0.08 g/100g and a fiber content of 8.66 ± 0.04 g/100g. In terms of nutritional values, the broth showed good levels of calcium 184.21 ± 0.09 mg/100g, potassium 50.04 ± 1.45 mg/100g and iron and zinc. In terms of antioxidant activity, the broth also showed good antioxidant activity. Conclusion: Regarding the properties of our food broth, whose composition is based on natural ingredients, could be recommended for consumption and, its properties, could play an important role in preventing and combating certain metabolic diseases.

Assessing soil quality is essential for crop management and soil temporal changes. The present study aims to evaluate soil quality in the Ferralitic soils context countrywide. This assessment was done using multivariate soil quality indice (sQI) models, such as additive quality index (AQI), weighted quality indexes (WQIsub>addsub> and WQIsub>comsub>) and Nemoro quality index (NQI), applied to two approaches of indicator selection: total data set (TDs) and minimum data set (MDs). Physical and chemical soil indicators were extracted from the ORsTOM’s reports resulting from a sampling campaign in different provinces of Gabon. The TDs approach shows soil quality status according to eleven soil indicators extracted from the analysis of 1,059 samples from arable soil layer (0 - 30 cm depth). The results indicated that 87% of all provinces presented a very low soil quality (Q5) whatever the model. Among soil indicators, exchangeable Ksup>+sup> and Mgsup>2+sup>, bulk density and C/N ratio were retained in MDs, using principal component analysis (PCA). In the MDs approach, 50 to 63% of provinces had low soil quality grades with AQI, WQIsub>addsub> and NQI, whereas the total was observed with WQIsub>comsub>. Only 25% of provinces had medium soil quality grades with AQI and NQI models, while 12.5% (NQI) and 25% (AQI) presented high quality grades. Robust statistical analyses confirmed the accuracy and validation (0.80 r P ≤ 0.016) of AQI, WQIsub>addsub> and NQI into the TDs and MDs approaches. The same sensitivity index value (1.53) was obtained with AQI and WQIsub>addsub>. However, WQIsub>addsub> was chosen as the best sQI model, according to its high linear regression value (Rsup>2sup> = 0.82) between TDs and MDs. This study has important implications in decision-making on monitoring, evaluation and sustainable management of Gabonese soils in a pedoclimatic context unfavorable to plant growth.
