Vehicular emissions are considered one of the major anthropogenic sources of greenhouse gases and poor air quality in metropolitan *** study aims to see the correlation of CO_(2),CH_(4),and CO through monitoring over a period from December 2020 to October 2021 covering three seasons’winter,summer,and monsoon at two different traffic locations of Delhi having different traffic volumes,road patterns,and traffic *** annual average morning concentration of CO_(2),CH_(4)and CO was found(533±105),(7.3±3.1),(10.7±3.0)ppm at Najafgarh and(480±70),(5.2±1.8),(7.8±2.8)ppm at Rajendra Place,respectively.A relationship between concentration of all three gases and meteorological parameters such as temperature,humidity,wind speed and wind direction has also been investigated using Pearson correlation coefficient and pollution rose diagram.A comparable pattern in concentration was observed for all three gases in spatial(location)and temporal(diurnal)*** concentration trend of CO_(2)in different seasons is winter>summer>monsoon,while in the case of CH_(4)winter=summer>monsoon but not any seasonal trend was noted in CO *** is observed that CO_(2)has a good relation with CO(a tracer for vehicular emission)in terms of diurnal variation,whereas,CH_(4)does not represent a relation with CO and CO_(2)diurnally,suggesting that vehicles are the source of CO_(2)but not much contributing to other greenhouse gases like CH_(4).

AIM To investigate the role of genetic variants of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) and angiotensinogen(AGT) genes in the antiproteinuric efficacy of ACE inhibitor therapy in diabetic nephropathy(DN) *** In the present study, 270 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with nephropathy were enrolled and treated with ACE inhibitor(ramipril) and followed at 6 mo for renal function and albumin excretion by estimating serum creatinine, end stage renal disease, and albumin/creatinine ratio(ACR) in urine. Genotyping of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms were performed by using primer specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and PCR-RFLP techniques, respectively. RESULTS Forty-eight percent of DN patients(responders) benefited with respect to proteinuria from ACE inhibitor therapy at 6 mo follow-up. A significant reduction in ACR was observed after 6 mo treatment with ACE inhibitor irrespective of whether DN patients were micro-albuminuric(≥ 30 and < 300 mg/g creatinine) or macro-albuminuric(≥ 300 mg/g creatinine) at the time of enrollment. However, macro-albuminuric patients(55%) showed better response to therapy. A reduction in urinary ACR was found independent of genotypes of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms although macro-albuminuric patients having TT genotype showed statistically insignificant increased response(72%). CONCLUSION ACE inhibitor therapy reduced urinary ACR by ≥ 30% in 50% of DN patients and the response is independent of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms.

BACKGROUND There is scant literature on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS).AIM To assess the magnitude,clinical characteristics,feasibility,and outcomes of treatment in *** A total of 904 BCS patients from New Delhi,India and 1140 from Mumbai,India were *** prevalence and incidence of HCC were determined,and among patients with BCS-HCC,the viability and outcomes of interventional therapy were *** In the New Delhi cohort of 35 BCS-HCC patients,18 had HCC at index presentation(prevalence 1.99%),and 17 developed HCC over a follow-up of 4601 person-years,[incidence 0.36(0.22-0.57)per 100 person-years].BCS-HCC patients were older when compared to patients with BCS alone(P=0.001)and had a higher proportion of inferior vena cava block,cirrhosis,and long-segment vascular *** median alpha-fetoprotein level was higher in patients with BCS-HCC at first presentation than those who developed HCC at follow-up(13029 ng/mL vs 500 ng/mL,P=0.01).Of the 35 BCS-HCC,26(74.3%)underwent radiological interventions for BCS,and 22(62.8%)patients underwent treatment for HCC[transarterial chemoembolization in 18(81.8%),oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor in 3(13.6%),and transarterial radioembolization in 1(4.5%)].The median survival among patients who underwent interventions for HCC compared with those who did not was 3.5 years vs 3.1 mo(P=0.0001).In contrast to the New Delhi cohort,the Mumbai cohort of BCS-HCC patients were predominantly males,presented with a more advanced HCC[Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer C and D],and 2 patients underwent liver *** HCC is not uncommon in patients with *** interventions and liver transplantation are feasible in select primary BCS-HCC patients and may improve outcomes.

Recently, S. aggarwal [Chin. Phys. B 23 （2014） 093203] reported energy levels, radiative rates, and the lifetimes for the lowest 60 levels belonging to the 2s22p5, 2s2p6, and 2s22p43g configurations of F-like tungsten. There is no discrepancy for his calculated energies for the levels and the radiative rates for the limited number of E1 transitions, but the reported results for the lifetimes are highly inaccurate. According to our calculations, errors in his reported lifetimes are up to 6 orders of magnitude for several levels. Here we report the correct lifetimes for future comparisons and applications, and also explain the reason for the discrepancies.

Background:Noncontrast computed tomography(CT)scan of the kidneys,ureter and bladder is the standard investigative modality for diagnosing and following up patients with *** each scan,a patient receives radiation of 18-34 *** consider-ations become pertinent because of a 10％lifetime incidence rate and higher than 50％risk of recurrence,necessitating repeated im-aging in the lifetime of a stone ***,this study aimed to assess the sensitivity of"reduced-radiation"CT imaging by altering scan settings to lower than the"standard"norms.Materials and methods:Altogether,222 patients(255"kidney-ureter"stone-bearing units or"renal units")with urolithiasis and patients undergoing CT for other reasons with incidental findings of renal/ureteric calculi between 2017 and 2019 were *** patients were subjected to 3 sequential scans at tube current settings of 250 mA(CT-N/Standard),100 mA(CT-100),and 50 mA(CT-50)at a constant voltage of 120 *** clinicodemographic and radiological findings were recorded and assessed for significance.Results:Of the 255 renal units,117 were between 30 and 44 years of age,75％were *** the 255 patients,178(70.1％)reported a first stone episode and 77 had *** ureteric calculi were predominant(40.4％).All calculi were identified on CT-N;CT-100 failed to detect calculi in 1 patient,and CT-50 failed in 3 patients,where all calculi were＜3 mm in ***,none were undetected among patients with *** sensitivity was 99.61％for the CT-100 and 98.82％for the CT-50,which indicated a 2.5 and 5 times lower radiation and dose/length,respectively,than CT-N.Conclusions:The reduced-radiation CT scan is safe,sensitive,and accurate for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with urolithiasis with significantly lower radiation *** study lays the foundation to accept low-dose CT in general and CT-50 in particular,as the new"standard of care,"and attempt further dose reduction without loss of dia

Recently, S. aggarwal et al. [Chin. Phys. B 24（2015） 053201] reported energy levels, radiative rates, and lifetimes for the lowest 148 levels belonging to the 3s^23 p, 3s3p^2, 3s^23d, 3s3p3d, 3p^3, 3p^23d, 3s3d^2, 3p3d^2, and 3d^3 configurations of Al-like tungsten. While their calculated energies for the levels and the radiative rates for transitions are correct, the reported results for lifetimes are completely wrong. According to our calculations, errors in their reported lifetimes are up to 14 orders of magnitude for over 90% of the levels. Here we report the correct lifetimes and explain the reasons for discrepancies.
