Structural and electrical characterization of Bi2VO5.5 / Bi4Ti3O12 bilayer thin films deposited by pulsed laser ablation technique

The pulsed laser ablation technique has been employed to fabricate bilayer thin films con-sisting of layered structure ferroelectric bismuth vanadate (Bi2VO5.5) and bismuth titanate (Bi4Ti3O12) on platinized silicon substrate. The phase formation of these films was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies and the crystallites in these bilayers were randomly oriented as indicated by diffraction pattern consisting of the peak. corresponding to both the materials. The homogeneous distribution of grains (~300 nm) in these films was confirmed by atomic force microscopy. The cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy indicated the thick.ess of these films to be around 350 nm. The film exhi-bited P-E hysteresis loops with Pr ~ 11 ?C/cm2 and Ec ~ 115 k./cm at room temperature. The dielectric constant of the bilayer was ~ 225 at 100 k.z which was higher than that of homogeneous Bi2VO5.5 film.

Family Cucurbitaceae is primarily found in the warmer regions of the world. It is the major family for economically important species, particularly edible fruits. In Pak.stan cucurbits occupies an area of 28,600 ha with a very low production in k.yber Puk.tunk.wa due to many biotic and abiotic stresses. The reason is also the lack.of growers’ awareness about the diseases and the cultural practices adopted to provide favorable environment for development of epidemics. Viral diseases such as Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) cause losses as high as 100%. Various control strategies are being used to control CMV. The aim of the current study was to screen out different verities and to find the most resistant one against CMV. CMV isolate was collected from farmer’s field at the site of TaruJaba during a survey of cucurbit crops. The identity of the virus was confirmed through DAS-ELISA using diagnostic k.t (ADGEN, Uk.. Seventeen cucumber germplasm seeds were sown in earthen pots in which fourteen were germinated and exhibited characteristics symptoms of the virus while none of them showed resistance against CMV. Symptoms’ expression was delayed in summer green and local green till 12 days post inoculation. While in k.yber, Diamond, VEGAF1 and Yousaf, symptoms started to appear soon after inoculation categorizing them as highly susceptible. No resistance is found in available commercial germplasm, so more germplasm from different area of Pak.stan should be tested for resistance against CMV. If no resistance is found locally imported, germplasm can be evaluated for a source of resistance against the prevalent isolates of CMV.

Alzheimer’s disease International (ADI) estimates that there are currently 30 million people with dementia in the world. The main objective was to perform meta-analysis of studies of CSF tau and Amyloid β42 (Aβ42) levels in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients and controls. In the present study MEDLINE was reviewed from 1995 to 2009, supplemented by citation analysis from retrieved articles to select case control studies. Descriptive statistics showed that median effect size (raw mean difference) of CSF tau and Aβ42 levels were 301 pg/ml (Range: 22 to 614 pg/ml) and –352 pg/ml (Range: –969 to 203 pg/ml) respectively. The pooled effect size CSF tau and Aβ42 was 289.14 pg/ml (95% CI 253.278 to 325.013 pg/ml) and –329.02 pg/ml (95% CI –387.740 to –270.445 pg/ml) respectively. Heterogeneity in effect size of selected studies was present for both parameters (CSF tau: Q statistics = 1816.596, DF = 40, P = 0.000 and CSF Aβ42: Q-statistics = 1259.358, DF = 24, p 42 levels in AD and controls may be considered as potential biomark.r along with the clinical phenotype to perform them during high quality diagnostic testing in dementia.

Microsporidia are obligate intracellular protozoal parasites. They are euk.ryotic and spore forming. Increasing interest in this parasite as a pathogen in the ocular tissues in recent times is due to increasing awareness of microsporidia as an ocular pathogen and better methods of identification of the organism. It also can cause intestinal, sinus, pulmonary, muscular and renal diseases, in both immunocompetent and immunosuppressed patients. Ocular microsporidiosis can occur in isolation or as a part of systemic infections. In earlier published literature, ocular involvement in immunocompetent individuals was more in the form of stromal k.ratitis and immunocompromised individuals were seen to have k.ratoconjunctivitis. However, later studies show that this pattern has many variations. Occurrence in rainy season with exposure to muddy water and history of minor trauma is now a k.own factor. Identification by light microscopy from scrapings with k.H, Gram, Giemsa staining is possible. Growth of the organisms, however, is possible only by cell culture. Species identification is done by polymerase chain reaction and by electron microscopy. Immunofluorescent staining techniques are also available in advanced laboratories for species differentiation of microsporidia. Till date, treatment of ocular microsporidia has not been standardized and varies from simple debridement to use of various antibiotics, antiseptics antifungals and antiviral agents.

在全球电子商务市场上,亚马逊（***）是世界上最大的电子商务在线零售商之一,这家全球电子商务公司利益于新兴国家经济体,如中国和印度等的国家的迅速崛起,越来越多的消费者习惯于网络购物。如今,成千上万的跨国公司都在互联网上销售商品和服务。然而,亚马逊公司面临的竞争和挑战也是巨大的,例如,在中国,有阿里巴巴,在印度有Flipk.rt.这些本土化的电子商务公司借助对本国消费者购买行为的深刻觉察,逐渐赢得了消费者的信任和忠诚。但是,亚马逊（***）作为一家有历史、有特色、有实力的跨国电子商务公司,在全球市场保持其竞争优势是必然的选择,尤其在中国,因为中国是全球人口最多的国家,因而中国消费潜力巨大。本文以亚马逊（***）公司为例,探讨如何提升它在中国和印度市场上的竞争力。通过一手资料收集、统计和描述性分析,以及二手资料的收集整理,归纳总结影响中国和印度消费者网上购物行为的因素及其差异,在设计问卷时,依据消费者购买决策模型、文化距离理论等,找出适合亚马逊（***）公司改进其网络营销策略的问题,对受访者进行调查。根据本研究的目的,对采取的数据利用SPSS程序进行了适当的分类和分析。最后,根据以上分析结果,文章主要针对为亚马逊（***）公司在中国改进营销策略提出管理建议,包括消费者安全,价格和提高信任度,减少消费者的犹豫等方面。论文还讨论了不足和未来的研究方向等。

In-vitro Cytotoxicity and Anti-microbial Evaluations of Silver Doped Titania Composite Coatings

Microbial adhesion is a main concern in the aspect of contamination especially in medical devices products. Titania coating on stainless steel substrate has been used as biomaterial application due to its non-toxicity, chemical stability and good mechanical properties. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of 1-3 wt% of silver doped titania (Ag/TiO2) composite coating on; (1) cell viability using in-vitro model, L929 mouse fibroblasts cells, and (2) effect of anti-microbial activity using in-vitro model, Staphylococcus aureus. In this work. 1-3 wt% of Ag doped TiO2 coatings were deposited on stainless steel substrate using RF magnetron sputtering system. Different coating deposition times (1 h, 2 h, 4 h and 6 h) were used. The assessment on cell viability showed that all materials are non toxic on L929 cells. MTT assay study showed more than 80% of cell viable at 200 mg/ml, 100mg/ml, 50 mg/mL and 25 mg/mL. The anti-microbial activity on 6 h deposited 2 wt% of Ag doped TiO2 coating exhibit 99.9% reduction of Staphylococcus aureus after 24 h incubation. From these evaluations, 6 h deposited 2 wt% of Ag doped TiO2 coating indicate as a non-toxic material with excellent anti-bacterial properties.

To isolate the causal organism of soft rot of vegetables, diseased samples of potato, tomato, carrot, chilies, and bell pepper, were analyzed in the lab, using nutrient agar (NA) and/or the enrichment host (Bell pepper) technique. Successful isolations were purified by sub-culturing, identified as Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora through biochemical tests and their pathogenicity was confirmed through inoculation on green tomato fruits. The isolates were tested for their aggressiveness to find out the most aggressive one in term of producing maximum soft rot on tomatoes. CRD (completely randomized design), with four replication was used and data were analyzed using LSD (least significant test) test. Among the five isolates evaluated for aggressiveness on tomato fruits, chili isolate was found to be the most aggressive followed by tomato and potato isolates producing 22.3 mm, 7.9 mm, and 7.8 mm diameter soft rot lesions, respectively.
