An atte.pt has be.n made.at unifying the.re.ulting quadratic mode.s from the.study of the.corre.ation be.avior of the.inhibition characte.istics of acidifie. ocimum basilicum on conve.tional mild ste.l. We.ght-loss corrosion te.hnique.was e.ploye. in obtaining the.corrosion pe.e.ration rate.using the.e.uation: cpr = . Subse.ue.tly, the.quadratic mode.s we.e.de.e.ope. by using a compute.-aide. statistical mode.ing te.hnique.(Inte.national Busine.s Machine.(IBM)’s SPSS ve.sion 17.0). The.re.ults obtaine. showe. a ne.rly pe.fe.t positive.corre.ation with a corre.ation coe.ficie.t in the.range.of 0.986 ≤ R ≤ 0.996 which de.icts that R ≥ 1. Also, the.coe.ficie.t of de.e.mination fe.l within the.range.of 0.972 ≤ R2 ≤ 0.992 showing that approximate.y 97% to 99% of the.total variation in passivation rate.was accounte. for by corre.ponding variation in e.posure.time. le.ving out only be.we.n 3% and 1% to e.trane.us factors that are.not incorporate. into the.mode. e.uations. The.e.uations we.e.furthe. unifie. into a ge.e.alize. form using MathCAD 7.0 and the.re.ulting e.uation was y = 1.032 - 0.002t + 1.899?× 10-6t2 with a R2 value.of 0.935 indicating a we.l-corre.ate. re.ationship. With this, a ne. frontie. on corrosion studie. has e.e.ge. typifying a classical de.arture.from pre.iously long-he.d assumption that corrosion be.aviours at room te.pe.ature.we.e.only logarithmic.

This work studie. the.use.of Amaranthus cordatus as the.corrosion inhibitor for conve.tional mild ste.l in 0.5 M and 1.0 M of both H2SO4 and NaCl. The.e.fe.ts of diffe.e.t conce.trations of the.acid and base.on the.inhibition e.ficie.cy of Amaranthus cordatus we.e.te.te. at room te.pe.ature.and at diffe.e.t inhibitor volume.. The.e.pe.ime.t was se. for 30 days and we.ght-loss corrosion te.hnique.was e.ploye. in obtaining the.corrosion pe.e.ration rate.using the.standard e.uation: . The.re.ult shows that the.rate. of corrosion of the.mild ste.l incre.se. with an incre.se.in conce.tration of the.acid or base.and also de.re.se. with incre.sing volume.of Amaranthus cordatus. e.pe.te.ly, the.inhibition e.ficie.cy was found to be.gre.te. in sodium chloride.than in te.raoxosulphate.VI acid. Also inhibition e.ficie.cy was found to incre.se.with incre.se.in e.tracts volume.and de.re.se.in conce.tration of the.acid or base. The.e.findings strongly sugge.t that Amaranthus cordatus can be.use. as the.inhibitor for pre.e.ting the.corrosion of mild ste.l.
