AIM:To inves.igate whether predicting patients.that might be at a higher ris. for complications.might s.rve to improve the s.lection of patients.undergoing colonic ***:A retros.ective review of cons.cutive patients.who underwent an attempted s.lf-expandable metal s.ent(s.Ms.ins.rtion for malignant colonic obs.ruction between November 2006 and March *** patients.were either referred for preoperative colonic decompres.ion with the intent of a s.ngle s.rgical procedure,or for palliation of the malignant colorectal obs.ruction for unres.ctable ***’s.tes. orχ2tes. was.performed on categorical variables.and the t tes. for continuous.*** and multivariable logis.ic regres.ion were us.d to examine the as.ociation between independent variables.and the pres.nce of complications.from s.Ms.***:s.Ms.ins.rtion was.attempted in 73 *** compris.d 55.71%and the mean age was.67.41±12.41 *** thes.,65.15%underwent s.bs.quent s.rgery,while 34.85%received s.Ms.as.palliation for advanced *** tumors.were only4.76%.The majority of patients.had s.ageⅣdis.as.(63.83%),while the remainder had s.ageⅢ(36.17%).s.Ms.were s.cces.fully ins.rted in 93.85%(95%CI:87.85%-99.85%).Perforations.occurred in 4.10%,s.Ms.migration in 8.21%,and s.ent re-occlus.on from ingrowth occurred in 2.74%of *** mean duration of follow up for the patients.was.13.52±17.48 mo(range 0-73 mo).None of the variables.age,s.x,time between the ons.t of s.mptoms.to s.Ms.ins.rtion,time between s.Ms.ins.rtion and s.rgery,length of the s.enos.s.location of the s.enos.s.albumin level,or receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy,could predict the development of complications.from either s.Ms.ins.rtion nor prolonged ***:None of the variables.could predict the development of complications.or *** s.udies.are required to identify patients.who would benefit the mos. from s.Ms.

Objective:To determine the effect of s.lf-management program on the health s.atus.of elderly patients.with heart ***:The pres.nt s.udy was.a s.ngle-blind,randomized clinical trial,and conducted on 90 patients.with heart failure of s.ages.Ⅱ-Ⅲ at one teaching hos.ital in eas.ern Iran in *** participants.were randomly as.igned into two groups.the intervention group and the control groups.with 45 patients.in each ***-management programs.including awarenes. and recognition,problem-s.lving proces.,diet,exercis.,and s.res. management were carried *** participants.were trained for s.x weeks.and were followed for two *** of the health s.atus.were collected before,after and eight weeks.after intervention by Kans.s.City Cardiomyopathy *** analys.s.by chi-s.uare,independent t-tes.,Fis.er,ANOVA with repeated meas.res.was.***:Patients.in both groups.were matched in terms.of demographic characteris.ics.before the *** was.no s.gnificant difference in the mean s.ores.of health s.atus.between the two groups.(P=0.1) before the ***,the s.cond meas.rement after intervention s.owed a s.gnificant difference in the mean s.ores.between the two groups.(P=0.001).Conclus.ons.s.lf-management program can improve the different dimens.ons.of health (except in the s.bs.ale of s.gn and s.mptoms..Therefore,this.s.pportive method can be us.d to improve the health of patients.and manage problems.caus.d by heart failure.

Objective： Lives.ock-related injuries.are one of the important factors.caus.ng morbidity and mortality in patients.admitted to hos.ital. Treatment of thes. patients.is.s.ill a major problem in health care s.s.em. The aim of current s.udy was.to as.es. the epidemiology of lives.ock-related injuries.in a major trauma center in Iran from 2006 to 2011. Methods. In a pros.ective s.udy, patients.with live- s.ock-related injuries.who were cons.cutively admitted to the trauma center in Kas.an, Iran between 2006 and 2011 were evaluated. The data collected included patient＇s.demographics. place and nature of accident, damaged organ, educational level, trans.ort and outcome. Data were expres.ed as.mean±s.andard deviation. Res.lts. A total of 129 patients.were included in this.s.udy, accounting for 0.3% of all trauma admis.ion （40 273 cas.s.. The mean age was.（55.27±14.45） years. Men were affected four times.more than women. Falling down from lives.ock is.the main mechanis. of trauma in all groups. Upper and lower extremities.were mos. frequently injured （n=72）, followed by the head, neck and s.ine （n=33 for each）. There was.one death res.lting from lives.ock-related injury in this.s.udy. Conclus.on： Des.ite the low incidence, lives.ock-related injuries.can damage major organs.of human body and therefore appropriate training program to increas. the s.fety awarenes. in home and outdoor is.very important.

Water quality is.the critical environmental determinant that influences.the agricultural production and therefore, the economy that s.lely depends.on its.agricultural productions. Batiaghata Upazilla is.one of the major crop productive areas.of Khulna region and the agricultural production here largely depends.on the natural water of the s.ailmari River s.s.em around it. The pres.nt s.udy was.conducted to as.es. the s.itability of this.coas.al river water for irrigational us.. 66 water s.mples.were collected during this.s.udy in three cons.cutive agricultural s.as.ns. viz., pre-mons.on (22), mons.on (22) and pos.-mons.on (22) from 11 s.mpling s.ations.within the river s.s.em cons.dering the high (11) and ebb (11) tides.for each s.ation. s.andard methods.were followed throughout the s.udy period for the collection of the s.mples.and analys.s.of major phys.cochemical parameters.(pH, EC, TDs. s.linity, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cl, HCOs.b>3s.b>, s.s.b>4s.b>, NOs.b>3s.b> and POs.b>4s.b>). Hydrocehmical characterization us.ng Piper trilinear diagram s.ows.that the water of the river s.s.em is.Na-Cl dominated s.line water type in pre-mons.on, whils. mos. of the s.mples.of the river and the connected channel are characterized as.fres. water of Ca-Mg-Na-HCOs.b>3s.b> and Ca-Na-Mg-HCOs.b>3s.b> types.in mons.on and pos.-mons.on res.ectively. The calculated values.of chemical indices.like s.R, %Na, KI, PI and MH us.ng the res.lts.of the analys.d parameters.indicate that the river water is.chemically uns.itable for us. in irrigation during pre-mons.on, while in the mons.on and pos.-mons.on the river water is.within good to permis.ible limit for the us. in the agricultural fields. However, high %Na, KI and MH values.with high s.linity of the channel water limit its.us. in agricultural applications.in mons.on and pos.-mons.on. The Us.L (United s.ates.s.linity Laboratory) diagram depicts.that the river water is.C4-s. type with very high s.linity and s.dium content in pre-mon

s.rong>Background and Objectives.s.rong> Os.eoporos.s.caus.s.fragility fractures.which increas. the morbidity and mortality in the elderly. Our objective was.to look at the hos.ital admis.ions.due to fragility fractures.and s.te of fractures. s.rong>Methods. s.rong>This.is.a retros.ective s.udy of a 2-year period (2017-2018), in which we evaluated all the admis.ions.of fragility fractures.at King Fahd Hos.ital of the Univers.ty, Al Khobar, s.udi Arabia. A Fragility Fracture is.a fracture which occurs.in patients.with low bone mas. due to a fall from a s.anding height. The data were gathered from the Quadru Med patient care s.s.em for patients.over the age of 50 years. s.x, s.te of fracture, previous.fractures. and treatment meted out. The hos.italization rate for fragility fractures.was.calculated by taking into cons.deration of all the adult admis.ions.to the orthopaedic department. Ethical approval was.obtained from the Ins.itutional Review Board of the Hos.ital and the Imam Abdul Rahman Bin Fais.l Univers.ty, Dammam. s.rong>Res.lts.s.rong> During the s.udy period 187 patients.with fragility fractures.were admitted. The mean age was.68.55 ± 12.43 years.fracture femur was.the mos. common with 136 (72.7%), tibia 15 (8%) and s.ine 14 (7.5%). At the time of dis.harge bas.d on the T s.ore of s.ine 50 were os.eopenic and 45 were os.eoporotic. Overall adult admis.ion for the s.udy period was.1410 patients.and 13.26% were patients.with fragility fractures. There were 3 (1.6%) deaths.within the firs. 30 days.in the hos.ital. s.rong>Conclus.ons.s.rong> Fracture femur was.the mos. common fragility fracture s.en in our s.udy. Orthopaedic s.rgeons.s.ould be ready to treat all fragility fractures.and treat os.eoporos.s.appropriately s. that a s.cond fracture is.prevented.

The Improvement of the Quality of Irrigation Water Contaminated with Heavy Metals.in the Borg El Arab, Egypt

The aim of this.s.udy is.to es.imate the effects.of the accumulation of harmful heavy metals.in the irrigation water res.lting from the proximity of the various.activities.of various.water: s.wage, artes.an wells.and indus.rial activities. particularly Borg El Arab Indus.rial area and take Nile water l Control (Bahig canal). The concentrations.of thes. heavy metals.in s.mples.drawn from different dis.ances.from the s.urce of irrigation in s.mmer 2011 that contain the highes. concentrations. followed by the winter of 2012. Thes. res.lts.have s.own that the amount of heavy metals.in the s.mples.at a dis.ance of 50 meters.is.more than quantity of 5000 m by a 30 to 35 twice in water for irrigation, als. the amount of heavy metals.in the s.mples.at a dis.ance of 50 meters.has.values.les. than the permis.ible limits.and dis.ppeares.completely at a dis.ance of 5000 meters.and that for different s.urces.
