A New Formulation of the Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method for Heterogeneous Media:Application to Heat Transfer Problems

The solution to heat transfer problems in two-dimensional heterogeneous media is attended based on the scaled boundary finite element method(SBFEM)coupled with equilibrated basis functions(EqBFs).The SBFEM reduces the model order by scaling the boundary solution onto the inner *** this end,tri-lateral elements are emanated from a scaling center,followed by the development of a semi-analytical solution along the radial direction and a finite element solution along the circumferential/boundary *** discretization is thus limited to the boundaries of the model,and the semi-analytical radial solution is found through the solution of an eigenvalue problem,which restricts the methods’applicability to heterogeneous *** this research,we first extracted the SBFEM formulation considering the heterogeneity of the ***,we replaced the semi-analytical radial solution with the EqBFs and removed the eigenvalue solution step from the *** varying coefficients of the partial differential equation(PDE)resulting from the heterogeneity of the media are replaced by a finite series in the radial and circumferential directions of the element.A weighted residual approach is applied to the radial *** equilibrated radial solution series is used in the new formulation of the SBFEM.

Effectiveness of aromatherapy with lavender compared to progressive muscle relaxation on anxiety and vital signs in patients under spinal anesthesia:A randomized clinical trial

Objective:This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of aromatherapy with lavender essential oil compared to progressive muscle relaxation(PMR)on anxiety and vital signs of patients under spinal *** and Methods:This clinical trial was conducted on 120 spinal anesthesia candidates who were randomly assigned into three groups of 40 including control,PMR(Jacobsen group),and *** state-trait anxiety inventory was completed on surgery day and 15 min after the end of the intervention by the samples of all three groups,and at the same time as completing the questionnaire,vital signs were also measured and ***:The mean score of anxiety after intervention was lower than that before the intervention in the aromatherapy group(P<0.001).The mean score of anxiety in the aromatherapy group was significantly lower than that in the Jacobsen group(P<0.001).Moreover,data analysis showed a significant decrease in the mean arterial blood pressure scores of the PMR(P=008)and aromatherapy(P<0.001)groups and a statistically significant increase in the mean heart rate scores in the control group(P=0.002).Conclusion:The use of aromatherapy with lavender is more effective than PMR therapy in reducing the anxiety level of patients undergoing spinal *** to the high level of anxiety and its serious effects on the patient’s hemodynamics,aromatherapy with lavender can be used as an easy and cheap method to reduce anxiety in operation rooms.

The light curve analyses and orbital period variations for two contact binary stars,LS Del and V997 Cyg,are presented in this work which was conducted in the frame of the Binary Systems of South and North project Ground-based photometric observations were performed at two observatories in *** used the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite(TESS)data for extracting times of minima and light curve analysis of the targe *** O-C diagram for both systems displays a parabolic *** Del and V997 Cyg’s orbital periods are increasing at rates of dP/dt=7.20×10^(-08)days yr^(-1)and dP/dt=2.54×10^(-08)days yr^(-1),respectively Therefore,it can be concluded that mass is being transferred from the less massive star to the more massive component with a rate of dM/dt=-1.96×10^(-7)M_(⊙)yr^(-1)for the LS Del system,and dM/dt=-3.83×10^(-7)M_(⊙)yr-1for V997 *** parameters of a third possible object in the system are also *** PHysics Of Eclipsing BinariEs Python code was used to analyze the light *** light curve solutions needed a cold starspot due to the asymmetry in the LS Del system’s light curve *** mass ratio fill-out factor,and star temperature all indicate that both systems are contact binary types in this *** methods were applied to estimate the absolute parameters of the systems:one method relied on the parallax of Gaia DR3,and the other used a P-M *** positions of the systems are also depicted on the M-L,M-R q-L_(ratio),and logM_(tot)-logJ_(0)*** recommend that further observations and investigations be done on the existence of a fourth body in this system.

Epilepsy is the most common serious neurological disorder. This is prospective study to investigate whether women with epilepsy have an increased risk of fetal and maternal complications during pregnancy. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 50 pregnant women who were presented for delivery at Afzalipour Hospital, Kerman, Iran during 2003 to 2009 were assessed. The groups were compared using the Student’s t-test, and one-way-ANOVA for continuous variables and the chisquare test (or Fisher’s exact test if required) for categorical variables. P values of 0.05 or less were considered statistically significant. All the statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 13 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA) for *** 32 (64%) of cases no fetal complication was found, in 5 cases (10.0%) intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), in 2 cases (4.0%) post-term labor, in 2 cases (4.0%) fetal distress and in 9 cases (18.0%) preterm labor were found. In 15 patients (30.0%) no maternal complication was found;in 2 cases (4.0%) pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH), in 12 cases (24.0%) preterm labor , in 4 cases (8.0%) bleeding, in 14 cases (28.0%) premature rupture of the membranes (PROM) and in 3 cases (6.0%) other complications were detected. Given these findings and previous studies, it seems that epileptic women required more care during pregnancy and the rate of maternal, fetal and obstetrical complications are relatively high among them.

Encouraged by the wide spectrum of novel applications of gas hydrates,e.g.,energy recovery,gas separation,gas storage,gas transportation,water desalination,and hydrogen hydrate as a green energy resource,as well as CO2 capturing,many scientists have focused their attention on investigating this important *** course,from an engineering viewpoint,the mathematical modeling of gas hydrates is of paramount importance,as anticipation of gas hydrate stability conditions is effective in the design and control of industrial ***,the thermodynamic modeling of gas hydrate can be tackled as an equilibration of three phases,i.e.,liquid,gas,and solid *** inseparable component in all hydrate systems,water,is highly polar and non-ideal,necessitating the use of more advanced equation of states(EoSs) that take into account more intermolecular forces for thermodynamic modeling of these *** by the ever-increasing number of publications on this topic,this study aims to review the application of associating EoSs for the thermodynamic modeling of gas *** most important hydrate-based models available in the literature including the van der Waals-Platteeuw(vdW-P) model,Chen-Guo model,and Klauda-Sandler model coupled with and SAFT EoSs were investigated and compared with cubic *** was concluded that the CPA and SAFT EoSs gave very accurate results for hydrate systems as they take into account the association interactions,which are very crucial in gas hydrate systems in which water,methanol,glycols,and other types of associating compounds are ***,it was concluded that the CPA EoS is easier to use than the SAFT-type EoSs and our suggestion for the gas hydrate systems is the CPA EoS.

Understanding dynamic stability of a ship on a resonance frequency is important because comparatively smaller external forces and moments generate larger *** roll motion is most susceptible because of smaller restoring *** studies related to the failure modes such as parametric roll and dead ship condition,identified by second generation of intact stability criteria(SGISC)are performed at a resonance ***,the nature of resonance,where the model experiences an incremental roll motion,has not been well *** this study,nonlinear unsteady computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations were conducted to investigate the resonance phenomenon using a containership under a sinusoidal roll exciting *** capture the complexity of the phenomenon,simulations were conducted over a range of frequencies to cover the resonance frequency including lower and higher *** addition to the resonance frequency,the phase shift between roll exciting moment and roll angle,as well as the phase difference between acceleration and roll angle,were found to have significant effects on the occurrence of resonance.
