This study investigates the simultaneous production of hydrochar and bioactive compounds from Ulva lactuca via a hydrothermal *** experiment was carried out using a batch reaction vessel at different reaction temperatures of 180-220◦C and various holding times of 30-90 *** expected,both temperature and time vigorously influenced hydrochar and bioactive compound *** maximum hydrochar yield was at 32.4 wt%.The higher heating value(HHV)of hydrochar was observed in the range of 17.68-21.07 MJ kg^(-1),near the energy content of low-rank *** hydrochars exhibited contact angles higher than 90°(i.e.,94-108°)for a longer time,confirming their hydrophobic *** scanning electron microscope analysis(SEM)showed that the hydrothermal process enables cracks in the spherical shape of raw *** into small and porous *** producing hydrochar,the hydrothermal process of *** also gives promising antioxidants and phenolics as bioactive *** highest total phenolic content and antioxidant activity could be achieved in hydrolysate at 200℃and 30 min with the value of 1.20±0.12 mg/g and 71.6±1.3%,respectively.

The strength of jointed rock mass is strongly controlled by the degree of interlock between its constituent rock *** degree of interlock constrains the kinematic freedom of individual rock blocks to rotate and slide along the block forming *** Hoekebrown(Hb)failure criterion and the geological strength index(GSI)were developed based on experiences from mine slopes and tunneling projects in moderately to poorly interlocked jointed rock *** has since then been demonstrated that the approach to estimate the Hb strength parameters based on the GSI strength scaling equations(called the‘GSI strength equations’)tends to underestimate the confined peak strength of highly interlocked jointed rock masses(***>65),where the rock mass is often non-persistently jointed,and the intact rock blocks are strong and *** estimation of the confined strength of such rock masses is relevant when designing mine pillars and abutments at great depths,where the confining pressure is high enough to prevent block rotation and free sliding on block *** this article,a grain-based distinct element modeling approach is used to simulate jointed rock masses of various degrees of interlock and to investigate the influences of block shape,joint persistence and joint surface condition on the confined peak *** focus is on non-persistently jointed and blocky(persistently jointed)rock masses,consisting of hard and homogeneous rock blocks devoid of any strength degrading defects such as *** results from this investigation confirm that the GSI strength equations underestimate the confined strength of highly interlocked and non-persistently jointed rock ***,the GSI strength equations are found to be valid to estimate the confined strength of persistently jointed rock masses with smooth and non-dilatant joint surfaces.

We develop a novel network to segment water with significant appearance variation in *** existing state-of-the-art video segmentation approaches that use a pre-trained feature recognition network and several previous frames to guide segmentation,we accommodate the object’s appearance variation by considering features observed from the current *** dealing with segmentation of objects such as water,whose appearance is non-uniform and changing dynamically,our pipeline can produce more reliable and accurate segmentation results than existing algorithms.

In the present paper, the unsteady, viscous, incompressible and 2-D flow around two side-by-side circular cylinders was simulated using a Cartesian-staggered grid finite volume based method. A great-source term technique was employed to identify the solid bodies （cylinders） located in the flow field and boundary conditions were enforced by applying the ghost-cell technique. Finally, the characteristics of the flow around two side-by-side cylinders were comprehensively obtained through several computational simulations. The computational simulations were performed for different transverse gap ratios （1.5≤T/D≤4） in laminar （Re=100,200） and turbulent （Re=104） regimes, where T and D are the distance between the centers of cylinders and the diameter of cylinders, respectively. The Reynolds number is based on the diameter of cylinders,D. The pressure field and vorticity distributions along with the associated streamlines and the time histories of hydrodynamic forces were also calculated and analyzed for different gap ratios. Generally, different flow patterns were observed as the gap ratio and Reynolds number varied. Accordingly, the hydrodynamic forces showed irregular variations for small gaps while they took a regular pattern at higher spacing ratios.

The paper provides an analytical investigation, homotopy analysis method （HAM）, of the heat and mass transfer for magnetohydrodynamic Oldroyd-b nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet in the presence of convective boundary condition. The PDE governing equations, which consist of equations of continuity, momentum, energy and nanoparti- cles, are converted to ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The current HAM solution demonstrates very good correlation with those of the pre- viously published studies in the special cases. The influences of different flow physical parameters such as the Deborah numbers in terms of relaxation and retardation times （/3i, /32）, magnetic parameter （M）, Prandtl number （Pr）, brownian motion parameter （Nb）, thermophoresis parameter （Nt）, Lewis number （Le）, and biot number （bi） on he fluid velocity component （f＇（η））, temperature distribution （θ（η）） and concentration φ（η）） as well as the local Nusselt number （Nux/Rex ） and the local Sherwood number （Shx/Re1/2 ） are discussed in detail.
