This research focuses on modeling a multi-zone circulating reactor (MZCR) in the polypropylene production process. In these reactors, designed for polyolefin production, small catalyst particles (20-300 mm) initiate polymerization in the presence of monomer gas. The reactor consists of two main regions: the riser and the downer. The riser operates in the fast fluidization and the downer is in the moving bed regime. Employing the two-fluid model with the Eulerian-Eulerian approach, the dynamics of both solid and gas phases were modeled by applying Newton's laws of motion and assuming spherical particles. The population balance of particles within the reactor was also coupled with the equations of motion. The simultaneous solution of these equations provides valuable insights into particle and fluid behavior, revealing trends such as the growth of polymer particles. Furthermore, the impact of various operating conditions was explored. This study also examined the effects of design parameters (gas inlet velocity, average inlet diameter, and temperature) on the system performance. For instance, it was shown that in the case where the solid circulation flux is 30 kg/(m2 2 s) the velocity of particles in the bed increases from 0.4 at the inlet to 1.1 m/s in the fully developed zone, when it is 43 kg/(m2 2 s) the velocity of particles increases from 0.3 to 1.4 m/s, and when it is 55 kg/(m2 2 s), it is increased from 0.22 to 1.5 m/s. Additionally, trends in particle size distribution based on temperature adjustments were revealed. This study showed that higher temperatures accelerate the polymerization reaction rate, promoting faster growth kinetics and the formation of larger particles. Spout-fluid beds are unique systems that require thorough study prior to their industrial *** this study,the hydrodynamics of spout-fluid beds were investigated using 3D computational fluid dy-namics coupled with discrete element method(CFD-DEM).Three flow regimes,including jet-in-fluidized bed,spouting-with-aeration,and intermediate/spout-fluidization were studied,and the particle mixing was quantified in these regimes using the Lacey mixing *** results showed that both axial and lateral mixing rates are better in jet-in-fluidized bed and the spouting-with-aeration flow regimes,with the axial mixing being superior to the lateral in all flow *** the diffusivity coefficient revealed that mixing in the jet-in-fluidized bed flow regime is better due to the formation and eruption of bubbles in the ***,the granular temperature was analyzed in all flow regimes,and higher particle velocity fluctuations were observed in the spouting-with-aeration and the jet-in-fluidized bed flow regimes due to the higher spout gas velocity and formation of bubbles in the *** study provides valuable insights into the hydrodynamics of spout-fluid beds in different flow regimes,which can aid in the design and optimization of spout-fluid bed reactors for various industrial applications.

Artificial ground freezing of underground mines in cold regions using thermosyphons with air insulation

Current practice of underground artificial ground freezing(AGF)typically involves huge refrigeration systems of large economic and environmental *** this study,a novel AGF technique is proposed deploying available cold wind in cold *** is achieved by a static heat transfer device called thermosyphon equipped with an air insulation layer.A refrigeration unit can be optionally integrated to meet additional cooling *** introduction of air insulation isolates the thermosyphon from ground zones where freezing is not needed,resulting in:(1)steering the cooling resources(cold wind or refrigeration)towards zones of interest;and(2)minimizing refrigeration *** design is demonstrated using well-validated mathematical models from our previous work based on two-phase enthalpy method of the ground coupled with a thermal resistance network for the *** Canadian mines are considered:the Cigar Lake Mine and the Giant *** results show that our proposed design can speed the freezing time by 30%at the Giant Mine and by two months at the Cigar Lake ***,a cooling load of 2.4 GWh can be saved at the Cigar Lake ***,this study provides mining practitioners with sustainable solutions of underground AGF.

In today's world, various approaches and parameters exist for designing a plan and determining its spatial, placement. Hence, various modes for identifying crucial locations can be explored when an architectural plan is designed in different dimensions. While designing all these modes takes considerable time, there are numerous potential applications for artificial intelligence (AI) in this domain. This study aims to compute and use an adjacency matrix to generate architectural residential plans. Additionally, it develops a plan generation algorithm in Rhinoceros software, utilizing the Grasshopper plugin to create a dataset of architectural plans. In the following step, the data was entered into a neural network to identify the architectural plan's type, furniture, icons, and use of spaces, which was achieved using YOLOv4, EfficientDet, YOLOv5, DetectoRS, and RetinaNet. The algorithm's execution, testing, and training were conducted using Darknet and PyTorch. The research dataset comprises 12,000 plans, with 70% employed in the training phase and 30% in the testing phase. The network was appropriately trained practically and precisely in relation to an average precision (AP) resulting of 91.50%. After detecting the types of space use, the main research algorithm has been designed and coded, which includes determining the adjacency matrix of architectural plan spaces in seven stages. All research processes were conducted in Python, including dataset preparation, network object detection, and adjacency matrix algorithm design. Finally, the adjacency matrix is given to the input of the proposed plan generator network, which consequently, based on the resulting adjacency, obtains different placement modes for spaces and furniture.

In line with achieving the outlook of Sustainable Energy Development(SED),Iran intends to increase the share of clean power to at least 8%of the country’s capacity by the end of *** research aims to investigate the role and share of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plants(BNPP-1,2,3)in achieving the SED perspective of Iran,which has never been examined so *** this connection,the comparative analyses of various power plants(PPs)of Iran including nuclear,fossil fuel,biomass,wind,solar thermal,photovoltaic,geothermal,and hydro PPs are carried out and *** main indicators of SED such as Levelized Cost of Electricity(LCOE)metric,grid-level system cost,investment cost,external cost,average CO_(2) equivalent emission,ecosystem impact,required land area,required water,preservation of natural resources,human health,created jobs,international cooperation,social acceptance and Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR),and energy-water hub are thoroughly *** statistical data used in the present study are extracted based on the authors’experiences gained during the construction,operation and maintenance(O&M)of BNPP-1,the energy-environment balance sheets of Iran,as well as the design documents of ***,the gathered data are evaluated using MatLab programing language and analyzed in terms of comparative *** evaluations of BNPP-1 performance within the framework of SED indicate that BNPP-1 has little effect on ecosystems and is among the lowest greenhouse gases emitters compared to other Iran’s PPs so that it annually prevent the release of 0.7 million tonnes of carbon,SO_(x),and NO_(x) compared to a gas-fired ***,the cost analysis shows that the external cost of BNPP-1 is nearly zero and the grid-level cost is approximately 3 USD/(MW·h)which is much lower than that for renewable *** per the LCOE metric and the cost of fuel supply,BNPP-1 is cost-competitive with other Iran’s *** nuclear fuel cost of BNPP-1 is nearly 49 million USD per
