Objective:To compare the surgical outcomes,improvement in renal function and complications between early stent removal(2 weeks)and late stent removal(4 weeks)after pediatric open pyeloplasty.Methods:A total of 72 open pyeloplasty were included in the study.Forty-three underwent late stent removal(Group 1)and 29 underwent early stent removal(Group 2).Pre-operative and post-operative follow-up data were compared to see the effect of early stent removal on the postoperative drainage pattern at 6 months after surgery and improvement in split function of affected kidney.The complications between the two groups were also compared.Results:Both the groups were matched with respect to age,sex,side and antero-posterior diameter of pelvis.Pre-operative mean split function in Group 1 was 42%(26%e54%)while it was 39%(19%e42%)in Group 2(pZ0.37).Postoperative improvement in drainage pattern was seen in 69 out of 72(96%)patients,41 out of 43(95%)in Group 1 and 28 out of 29(97%)in Group 2.Improvement in split function occurred in 35 of 38(97%)in Group 1 and 23 of 26(88%)patients in Group 2(pZ0.51).Complications were seen in nine out of 72(12.5%)patients.Incidence of complication in Group 1 was 16%(7/43)and Group 2 was 7%(2/29),and relative risk was 2.36.Conclusion:A shorter duration of double J stenting is as effective as a longer stenting period in terms of surgical success outcomes and improvement in split renal function along with a decreased risk of stent related complications.

Purpose： llizarov ring fixator and limb reconstruction system （LRS） fixators have been used in the management of complex tibial fractures with severe soft tissue injuries, compound tibial fractures, and infected tibial nonunion for which conventional internal fixation cannot be contemplated. Fracture union and distraction osteogenesis can be done simultaneously with these external fixators, allowing early weight bearing. Several previous studies have shown almost equal results of rail and ring fixators for the compound tibial shaft fractures. Thus we performed a prospective study to evaluate the union rate, functional outcome and amount of limb lengthening after the treatment of compound tibial shaft fractures with or without infected nonunion by ring or LRS fixators. Methods： This prospective study was done at Sarojini Naidu Medical College and Hospital, Agra, India and included 32 patients of compound tibial shaft fractures with or without infected nonunion. There were 26 males and 6 females and the average age was 40 years. Patients were randomly divided into two groups （n - 16 for each）： one underwent llizarov fixation and the other received LRS fixation. Cases were followed up for 3-24 months, 6 months on average from September 2012 to October 2014. Functional and radiological outcomes were assessed using the Association for the Study and Application of Methods of llizarov （ASAMI） criteria for both rail and ring fixators. Results： Union was achieved in all cases. Radiological outcome was found excellent in 68.75%, good in 18.75% and fair in 12.50% of cases treated by rail fixators whereas it was excellent in 56.25%, good in 18.75%, fair in 12.50% and poor in 12.50% of cases treated by ring fixators. Functional result was satis- factory in 75.00% of cases treated by rail fixator and 68.75% of cases treated by ring fixators whereas the corresponding rate of unsatisfactory was 25.00% vs. 31.25%. Xanthoma of bone is a rare benign bone disorder. It radiologically presents as a lytic lesion, often with cortical expansion or disruption, mimics primary bone tumors and metastatic lesions. Histopathological study gives the definitive diagnosis. Xanthoma of bilateral tibia in a normolipidemic patient is rare and not yet reported in literature. Here with we present one such rare case, with review of literature.

Midline Spinal Cord Hamartomas are relatively rare and asymptomatic. These lesions may present with a tethered cord and a normal overlying skin, a skin dimple, a dermal sinus tract or dense collagen. Most patients have few or no neurological symptoms related to them. Microscopically they are composed of mature and well-differentiated ectodermal and mesodermal elements, meningothelial cells, calcification, and even urothelium. We report MRI and histologic features of midline spinal cord hamartomas in six cases.

Many researchers have developed various methods for in-planta or floral dip transformation of Arabidopsis thaliana, one of the simple protocol and widely used to produce transgenic Arabidopsis. As the efficiency and ease of getting a transformant is very much time consuming effort and less number of the transformants people get, we have developed a little modified transformation protocol to avoid the disparities. Four types of inoculums (inoculum1, inoculum2, inoculum3 and inoculum4) were used to check the transformation efficiency out of which Inoculum3 showed the highest rate of transformation among the four types. 0.07% Twin-20 also acts in same manner as silwet L-77 to increase the rate of transformation efficiency and glucose instead of sucrose can be used in inoculum to transform Arabidopsis. After vacuum infiltration keeping the Agrobacterium infected plants for 7-8 hrs horizontally in low light at 280C temperature condition, considered best to get an increased number of transformed seeds. Modified protocol produced ~12-14% increase in transformants. Selection pots (kanamycin supplemented soil filled pots) in place of selection plates (Kanamycin supplemented Murashige and Skoog agar plates) proved beneficial as no MS medium and no aseptic condition is required for selection of transformed plants. This increase in transformation efficiency consequently increased the percentage of homozygous and single copied stable transgenic lines.

白芥（Brassica alba）是黑斑病抗性的重要资源,能为印度芥菜型油菜转移该性状提供有价值的资源材料。遗憾的是,传统的方法不能成功获得种间杂种,而种间杂种对改良印度芥菜型油菜的黑斑病抗性至关重要。本研究通过体外培养来挽救种间杂种。将两个优良的芥菜型油菜栽培品种即Varuna和RH0345与白芥进行种间杂交,于授粉后20天取含有正在发育的种子的未成熟角果,经表面消毒后将正在发育的种子培养在经改良的Murashige and Skoog（1962）培养基中。然后将杂种幼苗培养在两种MS培养基中,一种不含生长调节剂而添加500mg/l酪蛋白水解物,另一种添加2.5mg/l激动素。结果发现两种培养基都非常适合挽救种间杂种,在培养中植株表现出双亲的形态特征。这些植株通过茎段培养保存,下一季节种植在田间进行鉴定,筛选对黑斑病抗性和其它农艺性状都好的杂种。

Sinus node dysfunction, as the sole manifestation of an acute coronary syndrome, is rare. We report a case of ischemic dysfunction of the sinus node in a patient who had previously undergone coronary artery bypass grafting for triple vessel disease. Intermittent rest angina with a junctional rhythm was noted in spite of patent grafts to all three vessels, which resolved after percutaneous revascularization of the right coronary artery.

CXCL-10 known as Interferon gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10) or small-inducible cytokine 10 is a 8.7 kDa protein, which is secreted in response to IFN-γ by monocytes, endothelial cells and fi-broblasts. It has chemo-attraction for monocytes/macrophages, T cells, NK cells and dendritic cells in promotion of T cell adhesion to endothelial cells. In the present study, we investigated whether polymorphisms in CXCL-10 gene have any role in the manifestation of Tuberculous (TB) pleurisy. Two SNPs in CXCL-10 promoter region (﹣1447A > G and ﹣135G > A) were genotyped in patients with TB Pleurisy (n = 186), Pulmonary TB patients (n = 159) and healthy controls (n = 205) by PCR-RFLP. Disease associations were statistically analyzed by Fisher exact test. At the ﹣135G > A position, the frequencies of genotype GA and allele G were significantly high in TB pleurisy patients compared to healthy controls. While the frequencies of genotype AA and allele A were significantly low in TB pleurisy patients compared to healthy controls. The frequency of haplotype A-G with the combination of 1447A > G and ﹣135G > A was significantly high in TB pleurisy. Our results reveal that genotype GA and allele G at ﹣135G > A position were strongly associated with susceptibility to tuberculous pleurisy. The GA genotype may be a useful genetic marker for early detection of the disease in high risk individuals.

Climate change impacts are visible in Bangladesh which requires adoption of judicious crop management practices for sustainable agriculture. Crop simulation models are effective in this regard and can be used for optimizing water and nitrogen inputs for maximization of wheat yields. Two field studies were conducted at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) for evaluating the effect of increased temperature on wheat production under variable water and N rates, through the use of DSSAT v4.6 model. Thirty years historic weather data and BARI Gom-26 wheat-cultivar coefficients, as generated through use of GLUE of DSSAT model, were used for evaluating the impact of temperature rise with variable rates of irrigation water and nitrogen. The effects of four levels of nitrogen (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1) and four irrigation levels [0 (no irrigation), 1, 2 and 3] on wheat yield were evaluated under 0°C, 1°C, 2°C and 3°C rise in temperature. Simulation results indicated that wheat yield increased with increase in nitrogen application rate, but decreased with the temperature rise. Crop growing duration was reduced by about five days for each degree rise in temperature, irrespective of levels of irrigation water and nitrogen-rates. In general, there was yield reduction of 8.13, 16.77 and 24.97 % with increased temperature of 1°C, 2°C and 3°C, respectively, when compared with no temperature rise treatment. For interaction of temperature rise-N dose, the magnitude of yield decline under temperature rise was higher with increased dose of N. Agronomic N use efficiency at different N rates and temperature rise level were calculated. N use efficiency decreases with the increase in temperature rise and the highest (29.95 kg grain kg-1 N) was obtained from 40 kg N ha-1 treated plot with 0°C temperature rise i.e. existing atmospheric temperature.
