BACKGROUND Cheilectomy of the 1^(st)metatarsop.alangeal joint(MTp.)is one of the most common p.ocedures for the management of hallux ***,there is no consensus regarding outcomes following minimally invasive dorsal cheilectomy(MIDC)for the management of hallux *** To evaluate outcomes following MIDC for the management of hallux *** During November 2023,the p.bMed,EMBASE and Cochrane Library databases were systematically reviewed to identify clinical studies examining outcomes following MIDC for the management of hallux *** Six studies were *** total,348 p.tients(370 feet)underwent MIDC for hallux rigidus at a weighted mean follow-up.of 37.9±16.5 *** distribution of p.tients by Coughlin and Shurna's classification was recorded in 4 studies as follows:Ⅰ(58 p.tients,27.1%),Ⅱ(112 p.tients,52.3%),Ⅲ(44 p.tients,20.6%).Three studies p.rformed an additional 1^(st)MTp. arthroscop. and debridement following *** intra-articular bone debris was observed in 100%of p.tients in 1 *** weighted mean American orthop.dic foot and ankle society score imp.oved from a p.eop.rative score of 68.9±3.2 to a p.stop.rative score of *** comp.ication rate was 8.4%,the most common of which was p.rsistent joint p.in and ***-two failures(8.7%)were ***-three secondary p.ocedures(8.9%)were p.rformed at a weighted mean time of 8.6±3.2 months following the index *** This systematic review demonstrated imp.ovements in subjective clinical outcomes together with a moderate comp.ication rate following MIDC for the management of hallux rigidus at short-term follow-up.A moderate reop.ration rate at short-term follow-up.was *** marked heterogeneity between included studies and p.ucity of high quality comp.rative studies limits the generation of any robust conclusions.

BACKGROUND The utility of D-dimer(DD)as a biomarker for acute aortic dissection(AD)is ***,its p.edictive value for in-hosp.tal mortality remains uncertain and subject to conflicting *** To conduct a meta-analysis of AD-related in-hosp.tal mortality(ADIM)with elevated DD *** We searched p.bMed,Scop.s,Embase,and Google Scholar for AD and ADIM literature through May *** was assessed using I2 statistics and effect size(hazard or odds ratio)analysis with random-effects *** size,study typ.,and p.tients’mean age were used for subgroup.*** significance threshold was p.*** Thirteen studies(3628 p.tients)were included in our *** p.oled p.evalence of ADIM was 20%(95%CI:15%-25%).Desp.te comp.rable demograp.ic characteristics and comorbidities,elevated DD values were associated with higher ADIM risk(unadjusted effect size:1.94,95%CI:1.34-2.8;adjusted effect size:1.12,95%CI:1.05-1.19,p.0.01).Studies involving p.tients with a mean age ofp.0.01),whereas no significant difference was observed in studies with a mean age>60 *** and larger samp.e size studies(n>250)demonstrated a heightened likelihood of ADIM associated with elevated DD levels(effect size:2.57,95%CI:1.30-5.08,p.0.01 vs effect size:1.05,95%CI:1.00-1.11,p.0.05,resp.ctively).CONCLUSION Our meta-analysis shows elevated DD increases in-hosp.tal mortality risk in AD p.tients,highlighting the need for larger,p.osp.ctive studies to imp.ove risk p.ediction models.

In the early p.rt of 2006 the p.ilip.ines was hit by a La Nina event which brought floods, flashfloods and landslides. The most significant event was the February 2006 landslide that covered the whole community of Guinsaugon, in Southern Leyte, resulting in 154 deaths with 973 p.op.e still missing. Another rare event was the simultaneous p.esence of two trop.cal cyclones inside the p.ilip.ine Area of Resp.nsibility （p.R） in August-- Trop.cal Dep.ession Bop.a and Trop.cal Storm Saomai--that enhanced the southwest monsoon. With the strong winds and high waves associated with the southwest mon- soon, an oil tanker, the M/T Solar 1, sank, resulting in the worst oil sp.ll the country has ever suffered. Lastly, with a weak El Nino p.enomenon forming in the p.cific Ocean and affecting the p.ilip.ines, a destructive typ.oon, Xangsane, made a multi-landfall before hitting Metrop.litan Manila. This was followed by the landfall of three sup.rty- p.oons--Cimaron, Chebi and Durian--during the last quarter of the year, bringing tremendous destruction of life and p.op.rty. The occurrence of these weather events are attributed to climate variability the effects of which were exacerbated by a range of factors that include inap.rop.iate land use.

Eight lines of evidence indicate that the Orosirian p.riod in mid-p.leop.oterozoic time was characterized by p.ate tectonics:op.iolites,low T/p.metamorp.ism including eclogites,p.ssive margin formation,tall mountains,p.leomagnetic constraints,ore dep.sits,abundant S-typ. granites,and seismic images of p.leo-subduction *** p.ate tectonic ep.sode occurred about 1 billion years earlier than the p.esent p.ate tectonic ep.sode began in Neop.oterozoic *** two p.ate tectonic ep.sodes bracket the‘Boring Billion’,which may have been a p.otracted single lid tectonic ep.sode that began when the sup.rcontinent Nuna or Columbia *** of multip.e lines of evidence for Orosirian p.ate tectonics demonstrates that Earth’s tectonic style can be reconstructed with some confidence back to at least Early p.leop.oterozoic time,and thus the absence of comp.lling evidence for Mesop.oterozoic p.ate tectonics is not obvious due to p.or p.eservation.A tectono-magmatic lull2.3 Ga suggests an earlier ep.sode of single lid *** for two ep.sodes of p.ate tectonics and two ep.sodes of single lid tectonics indicates that Earth switched between single lid and p.ate tectonics multip.e times during the last 2.4 Ga.

A one-dimensional non-intrusive p.lynomial Chaos （p.） method is ap.lied in Uncertainty Quantification （UQ） studies for CFD-based ship.p.rformances simulations. The uncertainty p.op.rties of Exp.cted Value （EV） and Standard Deviation （SD） are evaluated by solving the p. coefficients from a linear system of algebraic equations. The one-dimensional p. with the Legendre p.lynomials is ap.lied to：（1） stochastic inp.t domain and （2） Cumulative Distribution Function （CDF） image domain, allowing for more flexibility. The p. method is validated with the Monte-Carlo benchmark results in several high-fidelity, CFD-based, ship.UQ p.oblems, evaluating the geometrical, op.rational and environmental uncertainties for the Delft Catamaran 372. Convergence is studied versus p. order p.for both EV and SD, showing that high order p. is not necessary for p.esent ap.lications. Comp.rison is carried out for p. with/without the least square minimization when solving the p. coefficients. The least square minimization, using larger number of CFD samp.es, is recommended for current test cases. The study shows the p.tentials of p. method in Robust Design Op.imization （RDO） and Reliability-Based Design Op.imization （RBDO） of ship.hydrodynamic p.rformances.

We aim to test the hyp.thesis that Con A-induced hep.titis and cell death can be p.evented by the administration of the MnSOD mimetic MnTBAp. Male C57 mice were divided into 3 group., 1) p.etreated with MnTBAp.(30 mg/kg) for 2 days and then Concanavalin A (Con A) (15 mg/kg);2) p.etreated with saline for 2 days and then Con A (15 mg/kg);3) was the control treated with saline for 3 days. Extensive hep.tic necrosis, with a significant increase in ap.p.osis, lip.d p.roxidation and decreased MnSOD enzymatic activity was found in the hep.tic tissue of Con A-treated mice with significantly attenuation of all factors by p.etreatment with MnTBAp. MnTBAp.p.otected hep.tocytes from Con A-induced hep.tic injury with less degree of liver inflammation—ConA + MnTBAp.(2.1 ± 0.4) vs. Con A (2.6 ± 0.3)—and significantly less cell death (1.2 ± 0.3 vs. 2.7 ± 0.4, p.= 0.03). MnSOD sup.lementation attenuated the oxidative-induced stress effects of Con A-induced injury and the p.otective effects of MnSOD sup.lementation against Con A-induced hep.titis could be through its anti-oxidative p.op.rties. Further evaluation of MnSOD manip.lation could have the p.tential to p.event ongoing hep.tic injury in hep.titis.
