Individual automatic detection and identification of big cats with the combination of different body parts

The development of facial recognition technology has become an increasingly powerful tool in wild animal indi-vidual *** this paper,we develop an automatic detection and recognition method with the combinations of body features of big cats based on the deep convolutional neural network(CNN).We collected dataset including 12244 images from 47 individual Amur tigers(Panthera tigris altaica)at the Siberian Tiger Park by mobile phones and digital camera and 1940 images and videos of 12 individual wild Amur leopard(Panthera pardus orientalis)by infrared ***,the single shot multibox detector algorithm is used to perform the automatic detection process of feature regions in each *** the different feature regions of the image,like face stripe or spots,CNNs and multi-layer perceptron models were applied to automatically identify tiger and leopard individuals,*** results show that the identiﬁcation accuracy of Amur tiger can reach up to 93.27%for face front,93.33%for right body stripe,and 93.46%for left body ***,the combination of right face,left body stripe,and right body stripe achieves the highest accuracy rate,up to 95.55%.Consequently,the combination of different body parts can improve the individual identiﬁcation ***,it is not the higher the number of body parts,the higher the accuracy *** combination model with 3 body parts has the highest *** identiﬁcation accuracy of Amur leopard can reach up to 86.90%for face front,89.13%for left body spots,and 88.33%for right body *** accuracy of different body parts combination is lower than the independent *** wild Amur leopard,the combination of face with body spot part is not helpful for the improvement of identiﬁcation *** most effective identiﬁcation part is still the independent left or right body spot *** can be applied in long-term monitoring of big cats,including big data analysis for animal behavior,and be helpful

The automatic individual identification of Amur tigers(Panthera tigris altaica)is important for population monitoring and making effective conservation *** existing research primarily relies on manual identifi-cation,which does not scale well to large *** this paper,the deep convolution neural networks algorithm is constructed to implement the automatic individual identification for large numbers of Amur tiger *** experimental data were obtained from 40 Amur tigers in Tieling Guaipo Tiger Park,*** number of images collected from each tiger was approximately 200,and a total of 8277 images were *** experiments were carried out on both the left and right side of *** results suggested that the recognition accuracy rate of left and right sides are 90.48%and 93.5%,*** accuracy of our network has achieved the similar level compared to other state of the art networks like LeNet,ResNet34,and ZF_*** running time is much shorter than that of other ***,this study can provide a new approach on automatic individual identification technology in the case of the Amur tiger.

在中国东北地区,森林中牛的放牧被认为会限制东北虎和东北豹的恢复,包括通过与野生有蹄类猎物和植被的自下而上的生态相互作用产生影响。尽管关于牛、植被和野生有蹄类动物之间关系的证据越来越多,但对于冬季野生有蹄类动物的丰度、微生境尺度的有蹄类-植被关系,以及放牧强度量化措施等方面的研究仍存在很多的不足。因此,我们于2018年首先对珲春国家级自然保护区(HNR)及周围地区放牧围栏内的牛-植被-有蹄类关系进行了扩展分析,包括围栏内外的比较分析以及围栏内牛密度对野生有蹄类动物密度和植被的影响。然后,我们于2019年在HNR和小北湖国家自然保护区(XBH)及其周边地区建立了两个20 km×20 km的固定监测大样方,并将每个大样方划分为100个2 km×2 km的网格单元。2019年11月和2020年11月分两次,在每个网格单元中心的30 m×30 m样方中对一系列乔木、灌木和草本植物指标进行了测量和记录;采集了土壤样本(2019年);并在每个网格单元内布设了一个远红外自动相机,以记录牛和野生有蹄类动物相对丰度指数(RAIs)。我们采用一系列线性模型、分段回归模型、广义加性模型、零膨胀负二项模型以及Mann-Whitney U检验研究了野生有蹄类动物丰度与植被和土壤因子的关系以及放牧对它们的影响。另外,我们评估了土壤样品的有机碳(SOC)含量,以验证将森林放牧的固碳作用作为缓解气候变化重要措施的潜力。我们的主要成果包括:(1)乔木胸部横断面面积和胸径与有蹄类的关系最强。这两个指标都影响了野猪(Sus scrofa)和狍(Capreolus pygargus)的丰度,树木数量较少、但胸径较大的景观内比许多小树的景观内有蹄类的密度更高。而且数据表明,这一关系中是有阈值存在的。(2)与放牧围栏外相比,围栏内乔木胸部横断面总面积较低,乔木密度较低,但平均胸径较高,说明一定密度的放牧对植被结构的变化具有长期影响,支持了较高的野生有蹄类密度。(3)围栏内灌木当年生枝条的丰度(即主要可食用植物丰度)低于围栏外,但它们的出现和丰度本身与牛的放牧密度没有直接关系。在标准统计显著性水平上(p<0.05),野生有蹄类的丰度与当年生枝条丰度无关,但在p<0.1的水平上存在相关关系,并表现出一定的阈值响应。(4)在一定的阈值范围内,野猪数量与草本植物的平均高度呈正相关。将2019年和2020年的平均草本植物高度进行比较,并将这些差异与放牧/生长季节有/无放牧联系起来,结果表明,放牧可以在不同年份保持相同的植物高度,而无牛可能导致下一年度的植物更高。但这一结果需要更长期的数据作进一步确认。(5)围栏内,野猪密度随牛密度的增加而增加。而牛的密度对狍密度和野生有蹄类动物发现概率没有显著影响。(6)狍的丰度与土壤有机碳(SOC)含量呈正相关,草本高度与土壤有机碳(SOC)含量呈正相关,放牧区域的土壤中有机碳含量高于无放牧区域的土壤有机碳含量。这一结果虽然无法对其中的因果关系进行有效推论,但为将开展长期监测方案和探索碳核算工具整合,以维持经济系统的可持续性和生态系统的服务功能,提供了一个起点。(7)最后,这项研究为了解牛和野生有蹄类动物的空间利用状况提供了参考,梅花鹿(Cervus nippon)在HNR的空间分布清楚地揭示了公路(G331)的显著限制作用,因此,在野生动物恢复计划制定必须要考虑到道路的影响。

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus and its associated complications,particularly diabetic foot pathologies,poses significant healthcare challenges and economic burdens *** review synthesises current evidence on the surgical management of the diabetic foot,focusing on the interplay between neuropathy,ischemia,and infection that commonly culminates in ulcers,infections,and,in severe cases,*** escalating incidence of diabetes mellitus underscores the urgency for effective management strategies,as diabetic foot complications are a leading cause of hospital admissions among diabetic patients,significantly impacting morbidity and mortality *** review explores the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying diabetic foot complications and further examines diabetic foot ulcers,infections,and skeletal pathologies such as Charcot arthropathy,emphasising the critical role of early diagnosis,comprehensive management strategies,and interdisciplinary care in mitigating adverse *** addressing surgical interventions,this review evaluates conservative surgeries,amputations,and reconstructive procedures,highlighting the importance of tailored approaches based on individual patient profiles and the specific characteristics of foot *** integration of advanced diagnostic tools,novel surgical techniques,and postoperative care,including offloading and infection control,are discussed in the context of optimising healing and preserving limb function.

Objective:To review the risk of prostate cancer(PCa)in men with incidentally reported increased intraprostatic uptake at 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography(18F-FDG PET/CT)ordered at Department of Urology,The Wesley Hospital,Brisbane,QLD,Australia for non-PCa related ***:Retrospective analysis of consecutive men between August 2014 and August 2019 presenting to a single institution for 18F-FDG PET/CT for non-prostate related conditions was *** were classified as benign,indeterminate,or malignant depending of the results of prostate-specific antigen(PSA),PSA velocity,biopsy histopathology,and three-Tesla(3 T)multiparametric MRI(mpMRI)Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score,or gallium-68-prostate-specific membrane antigen(68Ga-PSMA)PET/CT ***:Three percent(273/9122)of men demonstrated 18F-FDG avidity within the ***-five percent(231/273)were further investigated,including with PSA tests(227/231,98.3%),3 T mpMRI(68/231,29.4%),68Ga-PSMA PET/CT(33/231,14.3%),and prostate biopsy(57/231,24.7%).Results were considered benign in 130/231(56.3%),indeterminate in 31/231(13.4%),and malignant in 70/231(30.3%).PCa was identified in 51/57(89.5%)of the men who proceeded to biopsy,including 26/27(96.3%)men with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System scores 4-5 mpMRI and six men with a positive 68Ga-PSMA PET/*** most common Gleason score on biopsy was greater than or equal to 4+5(14/51,27.5%).68Ga-PSMA PET/CT was concordant with the 18F-FDG findings in 26/33(78.8%).All 13 men with a positive concordant 18F-FDG,3 T mpMRI,and 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT had PCa on *** was no statistically significant difference in the 18F-FDG maximum standardized uptake value between the benign or malignant groups(5.7 vs.6.1;p=0.580).Conclusion:In this study,after an incidental finding of an avid intraprostatic lesion on 18F-FDG PET/CT,70 of the 231 cases(30.3%;0.8%of the entire cohort)had results c

全球变暖深刻地影响着各种生态过程,特别是物种间物候同步模式,但还需要更多的案例来揭示。我们报道了森林叶物候和有蹄类动物换毛对气候变化的不同响应,并探讨了这是否会导致潜在的物候不匹配。本文利用连续7年的相机捕获数据,结合同期西伯利亚狍换毛记录,对东北地区森林叶物候和狍换毛进行了小波分析,探讨了气候变化对森林叶物候与西伯利亚狍换毛物候同步的影响。我们发现,森林叶物候生长季开始期(SOS)提前,而生长季结束期(EOS)推迟,从而延长了生长季长度(LOS)。春季西伯利亚狍换毛启动和结束时间均提前,而秋季西伯利亚狍换毛启动时间推迟,结束时间提前。气象因子与森林叶物候和狍换毛结果显示,最佳期间平均温度与生长季开始期呈显著负相关关系,最佳期间平均温度与生长季结束期呈显著正相关关系,最佳期间平均降水量与生长季结束期呈显著负相关;冬至到春季狍换毛开始的平均日照时长与狍换毛开始期呈显著负相关,10月日照时长与秋季狍换毛结束期呈显著正相关。小波分析结果还表明,森林叶物候与西伯利亚狍换毛之间的同步时滞在不同年份间略有波动,并且春季存在潜在的物候错配,揭示了全球变暖对西伯利亚狍和森林叶物候的影响。总的来说,我们的研究为森林叶物候和有蹄类动物换毛的同步性研究提供了新的见解,并展示了使用相机捕获数据来探索全球变暖问题的数据收集和分析的可行方法。

Resection of isolated liver oligometastatic disease in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma:Is there a survival benefit?A systematic review

BACKGROUND Presence of liver metastatic disease in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC),either synchronous or metachronous after pancreatic resection,is a terminal diagnosis that warrants management with palliative intent as per all international practice ***,there is an increasing interest on any potential value of surgical treatment of isolated oligometastatic disease in selected *** To present the published evidence on surgical management of PDAC liver metastases,synchronous and metachronous,and compare the outcomes of these treatments to the current standard of *** A systematic review was performed in line with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses guidelines to compare the outcomes of both synchronous and metachronous liver metastases resection to standard *** 356 studies were identified,31 studies underwent full-text review and of these 10 were suitable for *** synchronous resection of liver metastases was compared to standard care,most studies did not demonstrate a survival benefit with the exception of one study that utilised neoadjuvant ***,resection of metachronous disease appeared to confer a survival advantage when compared to treatment with chemotherapy *** A survival benefit may exist in resection of selected cases of metachronous liver oligometastatic PDAC disease,after disease biology has been tested with time and systemic *** survival benefit is less clear in synchronous cases;however an approach with neoadjuvant treatment and consideration of resection in some selected cases may confer some *** studies should focus on pathways for selection of cases that may benefit from an aggressive approach.
