Exposure to toxins can lead to a wide range of adverse health effects, including respiratory problems, neurological disorders, cancer, and reproductive issues. Toxins can come from various sources, such as industrial waste, agricultural runoff, and household chemicals. Therefore, detecting and monitoring toxins in the environment is crucial for protecting human health and the environment. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of Hememics biosensor system in detecting environmental toxins such as Ricin and Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) in mixed matrixes. When Ricin and SEB are spiked into soil, chopped lettuce, tap water, milk and serum, the biosensor was able to detect these toxins, without sample processing, at a level of detection comparable to lab testing with high sensitivity and specificity. Furthermore, Hememics biosensor system is designed to be network-enabled, which means that results can be transmitted to relevant agencies for quick decisions. This feature is crucial in cases where quick action is needed to prevent further contamination or exposure to harmful toxins.

A new type of lead-free, formamidinium （FA）-based halide perovskites, FASnf2Br, are investigated as light-harvesting materials for low-temperature processed p-i-n heterojunction solar cells with different configurations. The FASnlaBr perovskite, with a band-gap of 1.68 eV, exhibits optimal photovoltaic performance after low-temperature annealing at 75 ~C. By using C60 as electron-transport layer, the device yields a hysteresis-less power conversion efficiency of 1.72%. The possible use of an inorganic MoO~ film as a new type of independent hole-transport layer for the present tin-based perovskite solar cells is also demonstrated.

Reconstructing the timescale of the Tree of Life is one of the principal aims of evolutionary biology. This has been greatly aided by the development of the molecular clock, which enables evolutionary timescales to be estimated from genetic data. In recent years, high-throughput sequencing technology has led to an increase in the feasibility and availability ofgenome-scale data sets. These represent a rich source of biological information, but they also bring a set of analytical challenges. In this review, we provide an overview of phylogenomic dating and describe the challenges associated with analysing genome-scale data. We also report on recent phylogenomic estimates of the evolutionary timescales of mammals, birds, and insects.

An efficient panchromatic planar perovskite solar cell is developed based on highly uniform,lead-reduced CH3NH3Sn0.5Pb0.5I3 perovskite films with full film-coverage on the *** demonstrate here that full-coverage of the CH3NH3Sn0.5Pb0.5I3 films can be developed by a facile chlorobenzene-assisted spin-coating method.A power conversion efficiency of 7 % is achieved using low-temperature processes,which is among the best-reported performance for panchromatic planar perovskite solar cells with a light-absorption over 1,000 nm.

Nonclassical single electron hydrogen,sodium and lithium bonds(SEHBs,SENaBs and SELiBs)between single electron acceptors X–A(A=H,Na,Li;X=CN,HCC,ho,NC,CF3)and neutral radicals BY2(Y=H,OH,CH3)and have been systematically investigated by high level theoretical methods,such as second-order Mφller-Plesset perturbation theory(MP2),spin-component-scaled MφllerPlesset theory(SCS-MP2),the coupled cluster method with perturbative triples(CCSD(T)),and the correlation consistent composite approach(ccCA).Binding energies have been corrected for zero-point vibrational effects and(when applicable)basis set superposition *** quantum theory of atoms in molecules(AIM)and natural bond orbital(NBO)analyses were also employed to qualitatively characterize the single electron bond *** stabilization energy was partitioned via the localized molecular orbital energy decomposition analysis(LMOEDA)method,and both electrostatic and exchange interactions were seen to be major driving forces for the complex ***,the sum of the energy contributors of exchange(EEX),repulsion(EREP),polarization(EPOL),dispersion(EDIS)is close to zero and the changes in the interaction energy follow the trend of the electrostatic energy(EES).We observe several linear relationships among the optimized intermolecular parameters and the interaction energies of the various complexes.

This study examines the long-term variations of tropical cyclone(TC) frequency and intensity in the South China Sea(SCS) and the vicinity of hong Kong from 1961 to 2010 based on the best track data of four main weather agencies in the western North Pacific, namely the hong Kong Observatory, China Meteorological Administration, Regional Specialized Meteorological Center Tokyo and Joint Typhoon Warning Center of the United States. To account for the discrepancy in the best track data between agencies, the maximum sustained wind speeds are standardized to the 10-minute average before data analysis. Moreover, a sensitivity assessment based on three different data scenarios is also conducted to study the uncertainty in trend analysis due to the discrepancy in the datasets from various agencies. The results show that, likely modulated by the El Ni?o Southern Oscillation and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, there exist strong inter-annual and inter-decadal variations in the TC frequency in the SCS and the vicinity of hong *** the long-term trend, all dataset/scenario combinations depict a decrease in the TC frequency in the SCS and the vicinity of hong Kong during the study period, but the trend is not statistically significant at 5% level for most of the datasets. As for the TC intensity, the discrepancy between weather agencies remains very substantial even when the difference in the wind speed averaging period is accounted for. The large differences in the available datasets do not allow for a reliable detection of the long-term trend of the TC intensity in the SCS. The study of the TC impacts on hong Kong reveals that there is no significant trend on the TC-induced extreme rainfall in hong Kong. The extreme high winds associated with TCs within 500 km range of hong Kong have no significant trend at Waglan Island(offshore island) while those of the urban station at Kai Tak have a signifi-cant decreasing trend.

Background: In Taiwan, emergency departments are so busy that it is not uncommon for staffs (doctors and nurses) to be deprived of their lunch breaks or breaks to go to the restroom. As a consequence, during their busy shifts some emergency department healthcare workers choose to limit their water intake and no time to micturate which are both risk factors of urinary tract infection or urolithiasis. Hematuria is a common laboratory finding due to urinary tract infection and urolithiasis. Objective: To assess the prevalence of hematuria among the emergency department healthcare workers, we conducted a retrospective study in a district hospital in Taiwan. Documented data included those of healthcare workers who worked in the emergency department, as well as other departments of the same hospital. Methods: We reviewed the three-year records of general body checkup of hospital staffs who served in the emergency room and other departments of the same hospital between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2011. Statistical software SPSS statistical analysis of survey data recovery is applied;data and test results by the questionnaire analysis patterns are associated with the urinary system abnormalities to ANOVA analysis to explore the hospital group whether there is a significant sex differences, and the other to analyze and verify the correlation analysis to the Scheffe post-hoc comparison method. Results: A higher prevalence of hematuria was observed among emergency department healthcare workers when compared with their colleagues who work in other departments of the same hospital. Female workers have higher risk of urinary system abnormalities than male workers. Nurses in the urinary system abnormalities are higher than other positions category. Shift work system has a negative effect on the urinary system.
