Storage or transportation temperature is very important for preserving the quality of ***,low temperature in sensitive fruit such as peach can induce loss of *** exposed to a specific range of temperatures and for a longer period can show chilling injury(CI)*** susceptibility to CI at low temperature varies among cultivars and genetic *** with agronomic management,appropriate postharvest management can limit quality *** importance of correct temperature management during postharvest handling has been widely ***,due to long-distance markets and complex logistics that require multiple actors,the management of storage/transportation conditions is crucial for the quality of products reaching the *** fruit exposed to low temperatures activate a suite of physiological,metabolomic,and molecular changes that attempt to counteract the negative effects of chilling *** this review an overview of the factors involved,and plant responses is presented and critically *** disorders associated with CI generally only appear after the storage/transportation,hence early detection methods are needed to monitor quality and detect internal changes which will lead to CI *** detection tools are assessed:they need to be easy to use,and preferably non-destructive to avoid loss of products.

Semiconductor metal oxides have attracted wide attention in the area of gas sensor due to that they have unique advantages in the rapid and accurate detection of harmful gases.A simple strategy is to synthesize porous NiO hollow microspheres via a simple hydrothermal method with trisodium citrate as structure guide agent is presented in this paper,and the shell of the microsphere is composed of porous and lamellar assembly *** cavity proportion can be adjusted by changing the amount of trisodium citrate.A reasonable mechanism was proposed to explain the formation of porous NiO hollow *** a gas-sensing material,porous NiO hollow microspheres show excellent gas selectivity and rapid response recovery time for n-butyl alcohol *** the content of trisodium citrate was 0.10 g,the synthesized hollow sphere NiO had the highest response value(25.6)to 100×10^(-6) of n-butyl alcohol at 300℃ and the response and recovery times were only 68 and 10 s.

Endoscopic and minimally-invasive ear surgery: A path to better outcomes

The development of endoscopic ear surgery techniques promises to change the way we approach ear *** this review paper,we explore the current evidence,seek to determine the advantages of endoscopic ear surgery,and see if these advantages are both measureable and *** wide field of view of the endoscope allows the surgeon to better visualize the various recesses of the middle ear *** make it possible to address the target pathology transcanal,while minimizing dissection or normal tissue done purely for exposure,leading to the evolution of minimally-invasive ear surgery and reducing *** used in chronic ear surgery,endoscopy appears to have the potential to significantly reduce cholesteatoma recidivism *** endoscopes as an adjunct can increase the surgeon's confidence in total cholesteatoma *** doing so,endoscopes reduce the need to reopen the mastoid during second-look surgery,help preserve the canal wall,or even change post-cholesteatoma follow-up protocols by channeling more patients away from a planned second-look.

A Feature Selection Strategy to Optimize Retinal Vasculature Segmentation

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a complication of diabetesmellitus thatappears in the retina. Clinitians use retina images to detect DR pathologicalsigns related to the occlusion of tiny blood vessels. Such occlusion brings adegenerative cycle between the breaking off and the new generation of thinnerand weaker blood vessels. This research aims to develop a suitable retinalvasculature segmentation method for improving retinal screening proceduresby means of computer-aided diagnosis systems. The blood vessel segmentationmethodology relies on an effective feature selection based on SequentialForward Selection, using the error rate of a decision tree classifier in theevaluation function. Subsequently, the classification process is performed bythree alternative approaches: artificial neural networks, decision trees andsupport vector machines. The proposed methodology is validated on threepublicly accessible datasets and a private one provided by Hospital Sant Joanof Reus. In all cases we obtain an average accuracy above 96% with a sensitivityof 72% in the blood vessel segmentation process. Compared with the state-ofthe-art, our approach achieves the same performance as other methods thatneed more computational *** method significantly reduces the numberof features used in the segmentation process from 20 to 5 dimensions. Theimplementation of the three classifiers confirmed that the five selected featureshave a good effectiveness, independently of the classification algorithm.

Integrating local knowledge and scientific information can aid in co-developing locally relevant approaches for climate change adaptation and disaster risk *** along the Mekong River have adapted to variability in temperature,rainfall,and flooding patterns over *** environmental change in the Mekong Basin presents a new set of challenges related to drought,altered seasonal rainfall,more frequent high-flow flood events,and water withdrawals for hydropower and *** present a multi-method approach to understand how local knowledge of the spatial and temporalpatterns of floods,droughts,and rainfall can be integrated with scientific information along a flood-prone section of the lower Mekong River in Kratie province,*** hazard mapping of community members’knowledge of the movement of floodwaters through the landscape enabled interpretation of flood extent mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar images from the Sentinel-1A *** calendars of weather patterns and livelihood activities,together with local indicators of flooding,rainfall,and drought were compared with trends in 35 years of rainfall data,and highlighted"pressure points"at the beginning and end of the rainy season where agriculture may be particularly impacted by climate *** discuss potential applications of our findings for adaptation and hazard planning.

Antigen-Specific Antibody profiles in TB-Exposed and Infected patients: A Cohort Study from pakistan

Background: Circulating antibodies against specific M. tuberculosis (M. tb) antigens offer promising diagnostic biomarkers and an appealing alternative due to their ease of application, cost-effectiveness, and relatively non-invasive nature. This study aimed to quantify and characterize the IgG antibody response against a panel of eight Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb) antigens in TB-exposed and infected patients. The overarching hypothesis was that the IgG profiles and median fluorescence intensity (MFI) against each M. tb antigen could potentially differentiate between pulmonary, extrapulmonary, index contacts and healthy controls in a high TB burden setting. Methods: A multiplex microbead immunoassay (MMIA) was used to measure the serological response in 524 blood samples against eight M. tb antigens namely Rv-3881, Ag85-a, Ag85-b, Ag85-c, p-38, HspX, CFp-10 and MpT-32, with antibody concentrations determined using MFI and antigen’s cut off was established to determine the percentage of patients with positive antibody response for each antigen. Diagnostic accuracy of panel antigens was determined through ROC (Receiver operating characteristic) curve analysis and AUC (area under the curve) with 95% CI by using SpSS version 22. Results: ROC analysis demonstrated that all eight TB antigens in the panel are suitable for diagnosing TB infection in endemic areas, with an AUC ranging from 0.996 to 0.999 (p Conclusions: The M. tb antigen-specific IgG antibody profiles, with established cutoffs, could be incorporated into current immunological tests to enable rapid and accurate diagnosis and differentiation of TB infection types in TB endemic settings.
