Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration is the standard for ev.luating thyroid nodules with a high safety profile and a relativ.ly low number of non-diagnostic cytological ***,this diagnostic method traditionally has its weak *** diagnostic categories such as BethesdaⅠ,ⅢandⅣare not reliable for thyroid carcinoma risk *** adv.ncements in a core needle biopsy made it possible to use this tool as a new method for thyroid nodules *** main feature of this method is the use of thin needles(18-21G)and guns with an automatic trigger *** histological material collected with the use of a core needle biopsy is usually superior to ***,the core needle biopsy can be used as a complementary technique to a standard fine needle aspiration in difficult and dubious cases of thyroid neoplasia with uncertain malignant potential.

This study explores the impact of introducing v.cancy in the transition metal layer of rationally designed Na_(0.6)[Ni_(0.3)Ru_(0.3)Mn_(0.4)]O_(2)(NRM)cathode *** incorporation of Ru,Ni,and v.cancy enhances the structural stability during extensiv. cycling,increases the operation v.ltage,and induces a capacity increase while also activ.ting oxygen redox,respectiv.ly,in Na_(0.7)[Ni_(0.2)v.(Ni0.1)Ru_(0.3)Mn_(0.4)]O_(2)(v.NRM)*** analytical techniques including transmission electron microscopy,X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy,operando X-ray diffraction,and operando differential electrochemical mass spectrometry are employed to assess changes in the av.rage oxidation states and structural *** results demonstrate that v.NRM exhibits higher capacity than NRM and maintains a moderate capacity retention of 81%after 100 ***,the formation of additional lone-pair electrons in the O 2p orbital enables v.NRM to utilize more capacity from the oxygen redox v.lidated by density functional calculation,leading to a widened dominance of the OP4 phase without releasing O_(2) *** findings offer v.luable insights for the design of adv.nced high-capacity cathode materials with improv.d performance and sustainability in sodium-ion batteries.

Geochemistry of Thermal Waters of Continental Margin of Far East of Russia

Studied waters belong to warm （T=30-50℃）, alkaline （pH=8.9-9.3）, low mineralized （TDS〈235 mg/l） Na-HCO3 or Na-SO4-HCO3 thermal waters with high content of SiO2 （up to 81 mg/1） and F （up to 3.9 mg/l）, occur on modern v.lcano-tectonic rejuv.nated areas of Eastern Sikhote-Alin orogenic belt. Low 3He concentration as well as N2/O2 and N2/Ar ratios exclude influence of deep mantle fluid. New rare earth element data constrain our understanding of water-rock interaction occurring in the water source region. Meteoric origin of waters is prov.d by stable isotope v.lues v.rying from -71%o to -136.1‰ and from -10.8‰ to -18.8%o for δ^2H and δ^18O respectiv.ly. REE patterns reflect high pH, resultfing from water-rock interaction and oxidativ. conditions. Calculations of deep aquifer temperature using Na-K and quartz geothermometers show 116.8-131.1℃ and 82.2-125.8℃ respectiv.ly. Presence of deep faults both with abnormal thermal gradient （-45- 50 K/km） define unique geochemical shape of thermal waters of Sikhote-Alin, area, where no present v.lcanic activ.ty is registered.

Females of the ectoparasitoid Habrobracon hebetor attack and env.nomate numerous host indiv.duals during ov.position. The v.ctoring of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauv.ria bassiana during the adhesion stage by ectoparasitoid females among the wax moth larv.e Galleria mellonella was explored under laboratory conditions. v.ctoring occurred both from infected parasitoids to wax moth larv.e and from infected to healthy wax moth larv.e by parasitoids. The efficacy of v.ctoring in both cases was dose dependent. Parasitoid females were unable to recognize infected larv.e in a labyrinth test. In addition, the presence of H. hebetor females significantly （1.5-13 fold） increased the mycoses lev.l in clusters of G. mellonella, with 40% of the larv.e infected with ftmgal conidia. Env.nomation by H. hebetor increased conidia germination on the cuticles of the wax moth larv.e by 4.4 fold. An enhanced germination rate （2 fold） was registered in the n- hexane epicuticular extract of env.nomated larv.e compared to that of healthy larv.e. Both env.nomation and mycoses enhanced the phenoloxidase （PO） activ.ty in the integument of G. mellonella and, in contrast, decreased the encapsulation rate in hemolymphs. We hypothesize that changes in the integument property and inhibition of cellular immunity prov.de the highest infection efficacy of entomopathogenic fungi with H. hebetor.

Electric field distributions along helium plasma jets

Results of simulations of streamers propagating along the atmospheric-pressure helium plasma jets ejected from a thin tube into ambient air are presented. The computational model includes the equations gov.rning the helium-air mixture composition along and across the jet, as well as the equations, describing streamer propagation in the mixture, for the electric field and the charged species densities. Streamer v.locity and spatial-temporal profiles of plasma parameters are obtained for v.rious v.lues of the helium flow rate. It is shown, in agreement with av.ilable experimental data, that the electric field v.lues in the heads of streamers increase nearly linearly with the distance from the tube exit and that the slope of this dependence decreases with the growth of the helium flow rate.

Cancer cells differ from normal cells in v.rious parameters, and these differences are caused by genomic mutations and consequential altered gene expression. The genetic and functional heterogeneity of tumor cells is a major challenge in cancer research, detection, and effectiv. treatment. As such, the use of diagnostic methods is important to rev.al this heterogeneity at the single-cell lev.l. Droplet microfluidic dev.ces are effectiv. tools that prov.de exceptional sensitiv.ty for analyzing single cells and molecules. In this rev.ew, we highlight two nov.l methods that employ droplet microfluidics for ultrasensitiv. detection of nucleic acids and protein markers in cancer cells. We also discuss the future practical applications of these methods.
