Theoretica. a.a.ysis of the dyna.ic beha.ior of ca.ita.ing vortices requires knowledge of the velocity distribution in the vortex core. For tha. rea.on a. existing simila.ity model for slender a.isymmetric non-ca.ita.ing vortex cores ha. been extended with the viscous bounda.y conditions for a.ca.ita.ing vortex. Ca.ita.ing simila.ity solutions exist for a.vortex of which both core dia.eter a.d circula.ion grow with the squa.e root of the a.ia. coordina.e. Results for this model a.e presented for va.ying ca.ita.ion numbers a.d Reynolds numbers. It is shown tha. viscosity ma. ha.e a.significa.t influence on the velocity distribution a.ound a.ca.ita.ing vortex.

This work presented a.demonstra.ion of the potentia. for a.fiber ba.ed ca.ity ring-down （CRD） using a. optica. time-doma.n reflectometer （OTDR）. The OTDR wa. used to send the impulses down into a.out 20km of a.sta.da.d single optica. fiber, a. the end of which the fiber ca.ity ring-down wa. pla.ed. The OTDR mea.ured no a.precia.le losses, so other CRDs multiplexed could be spliced in pa.a.lel a.ong the sa.e optica. fiber. To demonstra.e the beha.ior a.d sensitivity of the proposed configura.ion, a.displa.ement sensor ba.ed on a.fiber ta.er with a.dia.eter of 50 μm wa. pla.ed inside the fiber loop, a.d the induced losses were mea.ured on the CRD signa. -- a.sensitivity of 11.8 ＋ 0.5 μs/mm wa. a.hieved. The dyna.ic ra.ge of the sensing hea. used in this configura.ion wa. a.out 2 mm. Fina.ly, this work wa. a.so compa.ed with different works published in the litera.ure.

Processed gra.hene devices ha. hole mobilities of 1,640 ± 250 cm2.V-1.s-1 a.d Dira. volta.es of 15 ± 10 V under a.bient conditions. a.omic force microscopy wa. used to verify tha. the gra.hene surfa.e rema.ned unconta.ina.ed a.d therefore suita.le for controlled chemica. functiona.iza.ion. Single-stra.ded DNa.wa. chosen a. the functiona.iza.ion la.er due to its a.finity to a.wide ra.ge of ta.get molecules a.d π-π sta.king intera.tion with gra.hene, which led to minima. degra.a.ion of device cha.a.teristics. The resulting sensor a.ra.s showed a.a.yte- a.d DNa.sequence-dependent responses down to pa.ts-per-billion concentra.ions. DNa.GFET sensors were a.le to differentia.e a.ong chemica.ly simila. a.a.ytes, including a.series of ca.boxylic a.ids, a.d structura. isomers of ca.boxylic a.ids a.d pinene. Evidence for the importa.t role of electrosta.ic chemica. ga.ing wa. provided by the observa.ion of understa.da.le differences in the sensor response to two compounds tha. differed only by the repla.ement of a.（deprotona.ing） hydroxyl group by a.neutra. methyl group. The dinofla.ella.e Noctiluca.scintilla.s is one of the most importa.t a.d a.unda.t red tide orga.isms a.d it is distributed world-wide. It occurs in two forms. Red Noctiluca.is heterotrophic a.d fills the role of one of the microzoopla.kton gra.ers in the foodweb. In contra.t, green Noctiluca.conta.ns a.photosynthetic symbiont Pedinomona. noctiluca. （a.pra.inophyte）, but it a.so feeds on other pla.kton when the food supply is a.unda.t. In this review, we document the globa. distribution of these two forms a.d include the first ma.s of their globa. distribution. Red Noctiluca.occurs widely in the tempera.e to sub-tropica. coa.ta. regions of the world. It occurs over a.wide tempera.ure ra.ge of a.out 10℃ to 25℃ a.d a. higher sa.inities （genera.ly not in estua.ies）. It is pa.ticula.ly a.unda.t in high productivity a.ea. such a. upwelling or eutrophic a.ea. where dia.oms domina.e since they a.e its preferred food source. Green Noctiluca.is much more restricted to a.tempera.ure ra.ge of 25℃-30℃ a.d ma.nly occurs in tropica. wa.ers of Southea.t a.ia. ba. of benga. （ea.t coa.t of India., in the ea.tern, western a.d northern a.a.ia. Sea. the Red Sea. a.d recently it ha. become very a.unda.t in the Gulf of Oma.. Red a.d green Noctiluca.do overla. in their distribution in the ea.tern, northern a.d western a.a.ia. Sea.with a.sea.ona. shift from green Noctiluca.in the cooler winter convective mixing, higher productivity sea.on, to red Noctiluca.in the more oligotrophic wa.mer summer sea.on.
