Objectives:To demonstrate three-hundred and sixty degrees of maxillary sinus(MS)surgical approaches using cadaveric dissections,highlighting the step-by-step anatomy of each ***:Two latex-injected cadaveric specimens were utilized to perform surgical dissections to demonstrate different approaches to the *** procedures were documented with macroscopic images and endoscopic ***:Dissections were performed to approach the MS medially(endoscopic maxillary antrostomy and ethmoidectomy),anteriorly(Caldwell-Luc),superiorly(transconjunctival/transorbital approach),inferiorly(transpalatal approach),and posterolaterally(preauricular hemicoronal approach).Conclusion:A number of approaches have been described to address pathology in the *** should be familiar with indications,limitations,and surgical anatomy from different perspectives to approach the *** paper illustrates anatomic approaches to the MS with detailed step-by-step cadaveric dissections and case examples.

Gastric adenocarcinoma is a global health concern,and Helicobacter pylori(***)infection is the main risk factor for its *** note,the immune response against the pathogen seems to be a determining factor for gastric oncogenesis,and increasing evidence have emphasized several host and bacterium factors that probably influence in this *** development of an inflammatory process against *** involves a wide range of mechanisms such as the activation of pattern recognition receptors and intracellular pathways resulting in the production of proinflammatory cytokines by gastric epithelial *** process culminates in the establishment of distinct immune response profiles that result from the cytokine-induced differentiation of T naïve cells into specific T helper *** released from each type of T helper cell orchestrate the immune system and interfere in the development of gastric cancer in idiosyncratic ***,variants in genes such as single nucleotide polymorphisms have been associated with variable predispositions for the occurrence of gastric malignancy because they influence both the intensity of gene expression and the affinity of the resultant molecule with its *** addition,various repercussions related to some *** virulence factors seem to substantially influence the host immune response against the infection,and many of them have been associated with gastric tumorigenesis.

Phenolic compounds from Dipteryx alata Vogel were assayed against the in vitro neurotoxic effect induced by Bothrops jararacussu (Bjssu) venom. Mutagenicity was assessed by the Ames test using Salmonella typhimurium strains TA98, TA97a, TA100, and TA102, in experiments with and without metabolic activation. Anti-bothropic activity was obtained by using mouse phrenic nerve-diaphragm (PND) preparation and myographic technique. Control experiments with physiological Tyrode solution were used for keeping the PND preparations alive (n = 4). Concentrations of phe-nolic compounds were as follow: protocatechuic and vanillic acids (200 μg/mL, n = 4), vanillin (50 μg/mL, n = 4). These compounds were used alone or pre-incubated with the venom (40 μg/mL), 30 min prior the addition to the organ bath (n = 4). Phenolic compounds significantly inhibited the neuromuscular blockade of Bjssu in the following order of potency: vanillic acid > protocatechuic = vanillin. Vanillic acid added 10 min after the Bjssu venom was also able to avoid the venomblockade evolution. The mutagenicity assay indicated that all phytochemicals were unable to in-crease the number of revertants, demonstrating the absence of mutagenic activity. This study demonstrated both the safety and therapeutical potential of the three phenolic compounds as novel complementary anti-bothropic agents.

Introduction: Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) reduces tumor growth and increases survival in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Drug-eluting beads (DEB) deliver slow-release chemotherapy and reduce systemic toxicity during TACE. This study correlated initial tumor response according to modified RECIST (mRECIST) criteria and 1-year survival in patients with HCC treated with TACE-DEB, and identified predictors of tumor response. Methods: Fifty-two patients with HCC received TACE-DEB loaded with doxorubicin 75 mg during a 6-month period. Tumor response was evaluated 1 month after the procedure according to mRECIST criteria. Results: Most patients were cirrhotic and etiology of liver disease was hepatitis C in 26/52 (50%). Similar numbers of patients had Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) A and BCLC B disease. Most patients had one nodule (66%). Complete response (CR) was achieved in 12/52 (23%), partial response in 19/52 (37%), stable disease in 4/52 (8%) and progressive disease in 17/52 (32%). Largest HCC ≤58 mm and BCLC stage A were associated with CR. The 1-year survival was 74%, with survival rates of 95% and 56% in the BCLC A and B groups, respectively. Variables reflecting tumor extension were associated with better survival. CR according to mRECIST criteria was a predictor of better 1-year survival (100% vs. 64%, P < 0.05). Conclusion: BCLC A and CR according to mRECIST criteria predict improved 1-year survival in patients with HCC treated with TACE-DEB. Further studies are needed to evaluate other predictors of survival and to determine if tumor response predicts long-term survival.

Background: the physical integration of South America through a Bioceanic Corridor has been idealized for a long time by the countries that make up Mercosur. This integration will have impacts on the population residing in the cities where the route will be built. Among them, Porto Murtinho, southern Mato Grosso on the border with Paraguay, stands out, where a bridge will be built over the Paraguay River that will link these two countries. Methods: a retrospective, quantitative and cross-sectional study of a descriptive type of documentary approach that sought to analyze the prevalence of arboviruses, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Diseases Related to Inadequate Environmental Sanitation (DRIES) notified and stored in the national System of Notifiable Diseases (SINAN). The sample consisted of new cases of these pathologies in the municipality of Porto Murtinho registered between January 2017 and December 2020. Results: there was an increase of 10% in the total number of diseases within this period. The number of dengue cases increased 36 times;the incidence of Syphilis, HIV and HPV decreased;and, finally, maintenance of cases of Gonorrhea, Leptospirosis, Yellow Fever, Zika, Chikungunya, Hepatitis A and B. Conclusions: actions are needed to prevent the increase of these pathologies together with the construction of the Bioceanic Route, thus avoiding damage population health and increased consumption of government resources.

Purpose:The objectives of this investigation were to compare the World Health Organization abbreviated instrument for quality of life assessment(WHOQOL-bref)scores of osteoporotic and non-osteoporotic Brazilian patients and to evaluate the correlation between mandibular cortical index(MCI)and bone densitometry(DXA)results in both ***:This research was conducted with an initial sample of 74 female participants who underwent panoramic radiography and forearm *** were divided into two groups:osteoporotic and non-osteoporotic patients.A quality of life assessment questionnaire was *** scores from the questionnaire were compared between the two groups and the correlation between DXA and MCI was ***:Psychological and social domains in osteoporotic patients presented lower scores(12.65 and 6.00 respectively)when compared to non-osteoporotic patients(14.70 and 13.97 respectively).MCI was inversely correlated with ***:According to WHOQOL-bref,osteoporotic patients may have lower quality of life scores when considering psychological and social *** is inversely correlated with T-scores but demonstrates greater correlation when considering non-osteoporotic patients with higher T-score values.

Aims We aimed at disentangling the effects of spatial distance,current and past environmental dissimilarity,and their combinations on tree community taxonomic and phylogenetic turnover by addressing the following questions:(i)Is tree community taxonomic and phylogenetic turnover related to the indirect effects of spatial distance via environmental dissimilarity?(ii)Does tree community taxonomic and phylogenetic turnover respond to paleoclimate(Last Glacial Maximum and Mid-Holocene)?Methods The study was carried out in 14 Atlantic rainforest sites in Brazil(20.4 ha sampled)containing 615 tree species from 83 plant *** obtained plot-level geographic coordinates and soil variables and site-level bioclimatic variables in the current,Mid-Holocene and Last Glacial *** used structural equation models with a distance-based approach to(i)test the direct effects of spatial distance and environmental dissimilarity and(ii)test the indirect effects of spatial distance via environmental dissimilarity on taxonomic(Bray–Curtis distance)and phylogenetic turnover(Comdist and Comdistnt distances).Important Findings Our results suggest a weak indirect effect of spatial distance via environmental dissimilarity on taxonomic and phylogenetic *** community turnover was driven by the direct effects of neutral,niche-based and historical ***,we inferred that the paleoclimate(historical processes)promoted the selection of the clades that gave rise to the current flora,while spatial distances(neutral processes)limited the dispersal range of species from the regional pool and environmental conditions(niche-based processes)locally selected the taxa that are able to persist.
