Digital Elevation Models(DEMs)contain topographic relief data that are vital for many geoscience *** study relies on the vertical accuracy of publicly available latest high-resolution(30 m)global DEMs over *** models are(1)the ALOS World 3D-30 m(AW3D30),(2)the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 1 Arc-Second CBand Global DEM(SRTM 1)and(3)the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Global DEM Version 2(ASTER GDEM 2).After matching their coordinate systems and datums,the horizontal positional accuracy evaluation was carried out and it shows that geolocation errors significantly influence the vertical accuracy of global *** this,the three models are compared among them,in order to access random and systematic effects in the elevation data each of them ***,heights from 555 GPS/leveling points distributed all over Cameroon are compared to each DEM,for their vertical accuracy *** and robust statistical measures,normality test,outlier detection and removal were used to describe the vertical quality of the *** test of the normality rejected the hypothesis of normal distribution for all tested global *** vertical accuracies obtained for the three models after georeferencing and gross error removal in terms of Root Mean Square(RMS)and Normalized Median Absolute Deviation(NMAD)are:AW3D30(13.06 m and 7.75 m),SRTM 1(13.25 m and 7.41 m)and ASTER GDEM 2(18.87 m and 13.30 m).Other accuracy measures(MED,68.3% quantile,95% quantile)supply some evidence of the good quality of AW3D30 over ***,the effect of land cover and slope on DEM vertical accuracy was also *** models have proved to be worse in the areas dominated by forests and shrubs *** 1 and AW3D30 are more resilient to the effects of the scattering objects respectively in forests and cultivated *** dependency of DEMs accuracy on the terrain roughness is *** all slope intervals,AW3D30 is performing

Background and objective The safety of intravenous glycoproteinⅡb/Ⅲa inhibitors (GPI) in elderly patients admitted with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) has not yet been established. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety of GPI in elderly patients with ACS. Methods Ninety consecutive patients≥70 years of age admitted to a county hospital between 1999-2004 were included. All patients had typical ACS symptoms along with high-risk markers. Results There was no difference in the TIMI risk score between patients who received GPI (n=47) and those who did not (n=43). Patients who received GPI had a lower creatinine clearance (40 cc/min vs. 47cc/min, p= 0.04). Patients who received GPI had a lower incidence of death, reinfarction or major bleeding (19% vs. 4%, p=0.03). There was no significant difference in major bleeding between the 2 groups. None of the patients in either group developed thrombocytopenia. Conclusion This retrospective small study suggests that the use of GPI in a selected group of elderly patients with acute coronary syndrome may be safe. (J Geriatr Cardiol 2005; 2(4):203-205 )

Because of the low energy requirement and the environmentally safe byproducts, the capacitive deionization water desalination technology has attracted the attention of many researchers. The important requirements for electrode materials are good electrical conductivity, high surface area, good chemical stability and high specific capacitance. In this study, metallic nanoparticles that are encapsulated in a graphite shell(Cd doped Co/C NPs) are introduced as the new electrode material for the capacitive deionization process because they have higher specific capacitance than the pristine carbonaceous materials. Cd doped Co/C NPs perform better than graphene and the activated carbon. The introduced nanoparticles were synthesized using a simple sol gel technique. A typical sol gel composed of cadmium acetate, cobalt acetate and poly(vinyl alcohol)was prepared based on the polycondensation property of the acetates. The physiochemical characterizations that were used confirmed that the drying, grinding and calcination in an Ar atmosphere of the prepared gel produced the Cd doped Co nanoparticles, which were encapsulated in a thin graphite layer. Overall, the present study suggests a new method to effectively use the encapsulated bimetallic nanostructures in the capacitive deionization technology.

The functional response of Cydonia vicina nilotica Muls. （Coleoptera： Coccinellidae） to six densities of Aphis craccivora Koch （Homoptera： Aphididae） nymphs on broad bean （Viciafaba Linn.） was investigated in the laboratory. A linear relationship between the rate of consumption and prey density was observed with r^2 values between 0.58 and 0.97. Plotting prey density against prey killed by four larval instars, and adult males and females of C. vicina nilotica fit well with the type Ⅱ model of Holling＇ s disc equation. Adult females consumed the highest number of prey, followed by fourth instars and adult males. Based on the functional response data, the model predicts a maximum of 144.9, 116.3, 86.2, 80.0, 72.5 and 20.0 nymphs to be consumed per day by an individual adult female, fourth instar, adult male, third, second and first instars, respectively. The differences in the responses of the predator to aphid densities are discussed.

This study aimed to set a computer-integrated multichannel spectral imaging system as a high-throughput phenotyping tool for the analysis of individual cowpea seeds harvested at different developmental stages. The changes in germination capacity and variations in moisture, protein and different sugars during twelve stages of seed development from 10 to 32 days after anthesis were nondestructively monitored. Multispectral data at 20 discrete wavelengths in the ultraviolet, visible and near infrared regions were extracted from individual seeds and then modelled using partial least squares regression and linear discriminant analysis(LDA) models. The developed multivariate models were accurate enough for monitoring all possible changes occurred in moisture, protein and sugar contents with coefficients of determination in prediction R^(2) of 0.93, 0.80 and 0.78 and root mean square errors in prediction(RMSEP) of 6.045%, 2.236% and 0.890%, respectively. The accuracy of PLS models in predicting individual sugars such as verbascose and stachyose was reasonable with R~2 of 0.87 and 0.87 and RMSEP of 0.071%and 0.485%, respectively;but for the prediction of sucrose and raffinose the accuracy was relatively limited with R^(2) of 0.24 and 0.66 and RMSEP of 0.567% and 0.045%, respectively. The developed LDA model was robust in classifying the seeds based on their germination capacity with overall correct classification of96.33% and 95.67% in the training and validation datasets, respectively. With these levels of accuracy,the proposed multichannel spectral imaging system designed for single seeds could be an effective choice as a rapid screening and non-destructive technique for identifying the ideal harvesting time of cowpea seeds based on their chemical composition and germination capacity. El-Burullus Lake is one of the four Egyptian Ramsar sites that constitute internationally important wetlands as they contain a rich biodiversity and have a large number of water bird *** the valuable resources in El-Burullus Lake and its surrounding area have faced various threats to wetlands over recent *** study was carried out to evaluate the dynamics of land cover change using three change scenes of recent and past satellite data from 1990 to *** study utilized ArcGIS10.7,ERDAS Imagine 14,Landsat TM(1990,1999,and 2010),Landsat OLI-TIRS(2019)to analyze the land-use/land-cover(LULC)of El-Burullus *** Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)and Normal-ized Difference Water Index(NDWI)were employed to assess the change scenario of the *** indicated that vegetated land has increased significantly with a concomitant shrinkage in the water body and open soil during the study *** 53 km^2(7.0%)of water body and 8.7 km^2(1.3%)of open soil were lost,while vegetation areas expanded to approximately 29.9 km^2(7.4%).Factors that underpin the observed changes in the area are;reclamation projects and fish-farms which are creating the danger of drying up of the southern coastal parts of the lake,as well as spreading of reed beds(mainly:Phragmites australis)that covers about 20%of El-Burullus lake which led to dry up the lake ***,the study suggests the need for urgent attention on conservation of remaining wetland resources for sustainable utilization for the next generation.
