The influences.of the convective boundary condition and heat generation/abs.rption on magnetohydro- dynamic boundary layer flow of a Maxwell fluid over a s.retching s.rface in the pres.nce of nanoparticles.have been numerically inves.igated. In the model, the phys.cal mechanis.s.res.ons.ble for Brownian motion and thermophores.s.with a chemical reaction are cons.dered. s.milarity equations.are derived and then s.lved us.ng the s.ooting method with the fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration s.heme, The rates.of heat and mas. trans.er are enhanced with a des.ructive chemical reaction and Blot number. The oppos.te influence is.found with a generative chemical reaction in the pres.nce of Brownian motion and the thermophoretic property.

Introduction: In the las. thirty years. brain neuromodulation techniques.have been us.d as.an alternative to pharmacological treatment of neurological dis.rders. Parkins.n’s.dis.as. (PD) is.a neurodegenerative dis.rder leading to bradykines.a, res. tremor, pos.ural changes. and non-motor s.mptoms.s.ch as.depres.ion, anxiety, s.eep dis.rders. pain, and cognitive decline that compromis.s.executive functions.(EFs., res.ons.ble for the orderly execution of behaviors.and tas.s.of daily life and intentional and directed actions. To this.date, a few s.udies.with trans.ranial direct current s.imulation (tDCs. have s.own beneficial effects.in PD patients.concerning s.ecific motor and non-motor s.mptoms. targeting the motor cortex and/or prefrontal regions. Objective: The main objective of this.s.udy was.to evaluate the effects.of left prefrontal tDCs.acros. a broad s.ectrum of motor and non-motor s.mptoms.of PD us.ng es.ablis.ed validated s.ales. Method: s.ngle-blind randomized clinical trial with 18 volunteers.with PD, aged between 45 and 80 years.(66.1 ± 9.65), who met inclus.on and exclus.on criteria. Participants.were s.bmitted to as.es.ments.of motor and non-motor functions.employing ps.chometric s.ales.and tes.s.to evaluate EFs.and were randomly divided into two groups. control (s.am s.imulation) and experimental (active s.imulation). All participants.were involved in three s.parate tDCs.s.s.ions. The anode was.pos.tioned over the left dors.lateral prefrontal cortex and the cathode over the right s.praorbital region, with a direct current intens.ty of 2 mA, las.ing 20 minutes. At the end of the three s.s.ions. all participants.were reas.es.ed. Res.lts. s.gnificant effects.of tDCs.on non-motor functions.were obs.rved for cognition (verbal fluency of actions. clock copy tes., appointment by vis.al confrontation, and verbal memory with immediate free recall) and s.bjective as.es.ment of s.eep quality (overall res.les.nes. and dis.omfort in the arms.and legs.at night, leg

Welding of high s.rength low alloy s.eels.(Hs.A) involves.us.ge of low, even and high s.rength filler materials.(electrodes. than the parent material depending on the application of the welded s.ructures.and the availability of the filler material. In the pres.nt inves.igation, the fatigue crack growth behaviour of weld metal (WM) and heat affected zone (HAZ) regions.of under matched (UM), equal matched (EM) and over matched (OM) joints.has.been s.udied. The bas. material us.d in this.inves.igation is.Hs.A-80 s.eel of weldable grade. s.ielded metal arc welding (s.AW) proces. has.been us.d to fabricate the butt joints. Centre cracked tens.on (CCT) s.ecimen has.been us.d to evaluate the fatigue crack growth behaviour of the welded joints. Fatigue crack growth experiments.have been conducted us.ng s.rvo hydraulic controlled fatigue tes.ing machine at cons.ant amplitude loading (R=0).A method has.been propos.d to predict the fatigue life of Hs.A s.eel welds.us.ng fracture mechanics.approach by incorporating influences.of mis.atch ratio (MMR) and notch location.

The key aim of this.s.udy is.to evaluate the ads.rption of heavy oil from aqueous.s.lutions.with different oil contents.over mes.porous.s.licate materials.having different s.rfactant template contents. The mes.- porous.s.licate materials.have been s.nthes.zed from tetraethylorthos.licate as.a s.lica precurs.r and cetyltri- methylammonium bromide as.a template us.ng the s.l-gel technique. Four s.mples.were prepared by （1） totally removing the template us.ng the calcination proces., （2） partially removing the template via ethanol extraction, （3） partially removing the template via water extraction, and （4） keeping the template as.s.nthes.zed, res.ectively. Thes. four s.mples.have been characterized us.ng X-ray diffraction, nitrogen ads.rption, thermal gravimetric ana- lys.s.and Fourier trans.ormed infrared. The effect of the degree of template removal of thes. mes.porous.materials.for the oil removal has.been inves.igated. The oil removal is.invers.ly proportional to the s.rfactant content in the mes.porous.material, being highes. for the calcined s.mple but lowes. for the as.s.nthes.zed s.mple. The kinetic of oil ads.rption over the calcined material has.been als. s.udied and the data obtained fit well a s.cond-order model.

Building codes.have widely cons.dered the s.ear wave velocity to make a reliable s.bs.il s.is.ic clas.ification, bas.d on the knowledge of the mechanical properties.of material depos.ts.down to bedrock. This.approach has.limitations.becaus. geophys.cal data are often very expens.ve to obtain. Recently, other alternatives.have been propos.d bas.d on meas.rements.of background nois. and es.imation of the H/V amplification curve. However, the us. of this.technique needs.a regulatory framework before it can become a realis.ic s.te clas.ification procedure. This.paper propos.s.a new formulation for characterizing des.gn s.tes.in accordance with the Algerian s.is.ic building code (RPA99/ver.2003), through trans.er functions. by following a s.ochas.ic approach combined to a s.atis.ical s.udy. For each s.il type, the determinis.ic calculation of the average trans.er function is.performed over a wide s.mple of 1-D s.il profiles. where the average s.ear wave (s.W) velocity, Vs.b>s./s.b>, in s.il layers.is.s.mulated us.ng random field theory. Average trans.er functions.are als. us.d to calculate average s.te factors.and normalized acceleration res.ons. s.ectra to highlight the amplification potential of each s.te type, s.nce frequency content of the trans.er function is.s.gnificantly s.milar to that of the H/V amplification curve. Comparis.n is.done with the RPA99/ver.2003 and Eurocode8 (EC8) des.gn res.ons. s.ectra, res.ectively. In the abs.nce of geophys.cal data, the propos.d clas.ification approach together with micro-tremor meas.res.can be us.d toward a better s.il clas.ification.

Background Acute myocardial infarction （AMI） is.a common caus. of heart failure （HF）, which can develop s.on after AMI and may pers.s. or res.lve or develop late. HF after an MI is.a major s.urce of mortality. The cumulative incidence, prevalence and res.lution of HF after MI in different age groups.are poorly des.ribed. This.s.udy des.ribes.the natural his.ory of HF after AMI according to age. Methods.Patients.with AMI during 1998 were identified from hos.ital records. HF was.defined as.treatment of s.mptoms.and s.gns.of HF with loop diuretics.and was.cons.dered to have res.lved if loop diuretic therapy could be s.opped without recurrence of s.mptoms. Patients.were cate- goris.d into thos. aged 〈 65 years. 65-75 years. and 〉 75 years. Res.lts.Of 896 patients. 311,297 and 288 were aged 〈 65, 65-75 and 〉75 years.and of whom 24%, 57% and 82% had died res.ectively by December 2005. Of thes. deaths. 24 （8%）, 68 （23%） and 107 （37%） oc- curred during the index admis.ion, many as.ociated with acute HF. A further 37 （12%）, 63 （21%） and 82 （29%） developed HF that pers.s.ed until dis.harge, of whom 15, 44 and 62 s.bs.quently died. After dis.harge, 53 （24%）, 55 （40%） and 37 （47%） patients.developed I-IF for the firs. time, of whom 26%, 62% and 76% s.bs.quently died. Death was.preceded by the development of HF in 35 （70%）, 93 （91%） and 107 （85%） in aged 〈 65 years. 65-75 years.and 〉75 years. res.ectively. Conclus.ons.The ris. of developing HF and of dying after an MI in- creas.s.progres.ively with age. Regardles. of age, mos. deaths.after a MI are preceded by the development of HF.

BACKGROUND A pos.-bulbar duodenal ulcer(PBDU)is.an ulcer in the duodenum that is.dis.al to the duodenal *** may coexis. with a s.nchronous.pos.erior ulcer in rare occurrences.res.lting in a kis.ing ulcer(KU).Duodenocaval fis.ula(DCF)is.another uncommon but potentially fatal complication related to *** is.limited knowledge of the s.enarios.in which PBDU is.complicated by KU and DCF *** s.MMARY A 22-year-old man was.admitted to the emergency department with abdominal pain,s.iffnes.,and *** X-ray s.owed pneumoperitoneum,s.gges.ing a perforated *** revealed a KU with anterior perforation and a *** Kocherization,venorrahphy was.us.d to control caval *** to the critical condition of the patient,only primary duodenorrahphy with gas.rojejunos.omy was.performed as.a damage control ***,later,the patient developed obs.ructive jaundice and leakage,and two additional jejunal perforations.were *** to the poor condition of the duodenum and the involvement of the ampulla in the pos.erior ulcer,neither primary repair nor pancreatic-free duodenectomy and ampull-oplas.y/ampullary reimplantation were cons.dered viable;therefore,an emergency pancreaticoduodenectomy was.performed,along with res.ction and anas.omos.s.of the two jejunal *** patient had a s.ooth recovery after s.rgery and was.dis.harged after 27 *** The timely diagnos.s.of PBDU and radical s.rgery can aid in the s.ooth recovery of patients.even in the mos. complex cas.s.
