BackgroundThe aim of this study was to assess the effect of a 4-week dutasteride treatment on reducing the intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, as well as the amount and duration of irrigation required to clear the urine after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) >= 50 g in men receiving the antiplatelet drug (APD).Materials and methodsThis double-blind randomized clinical trial included patients with a prostate size >= 50 g who were indicated for TURP and were already receiving APD. The study was conducted in the Urology Department of Cairo University over a 12-month period. Routine preoperative laboratory investigations were performed in all patients. Moreover, baseline prostate size, serum prostate-specific antigen level, and International Prostate Symptom Score were estimated. The patients were randomly divided into 2 equal groups (groups A and B). Group A, the dutasteride group, received dutasteride (0.5 mg) once daily for 4 weeks. Group B, the placebo group, received a placebo capsule once daily for 4 weeks. Both groups underwent bipolar TURP. Fifteen patients were excluded from the study; 9 patients from group A and 6 patients from group B, either due to drug intolerability or loss *** mean blood loss was insignificant between the 2 groups immediately after and 24 hours after surgery (Delta hemoglobin: 1.41 +/- 0.63 g/dL vs. 1.48 +/- 0.54 g/dL, 2.12 +/- 0.70 g/dL vs. 2.31 +/- 0.78 g/dL, respectively, p = 0.631, p = 0.333; Delta hematocrit: 2.97% +/- 1.51% vs. 3.16% +/- 1.36%, 4.96% +/- 1.87% vs. 5.73% +/- 4.39%, respectively, p = 0.610, p = 0.380). However, there were significant differences in duration of indwelling urethral catheter (5.10 +/- 0.55 days vs. 5.80 +/- 1.79 days, p = 0.048), duration of bladder irrigation (13.60 +/- 2.85 hours vs. 16.33 +/- 6.62 hours, p = 0.044), and the amount of saline used for bladder irrigation (11.03 +/- 2.30 L vs. 13.87 +/- 6.13 L, p = 0.046) between group A and group B. ***

Nowadays,the security of images or information is very *** paper introduces a proposed hybrid watermarking and encryption technique for increasing medical image ***,the secret medical image is encrypted using Advanced Encryption Standard(AES)***,the secret report of the patient is embedded into the encrypted secret medical image with the Least Signiﬁcant Bit(LSB)watermarking *** that,the encrypted secret medical image with the secret report is concealed in a cover medical image,using Kekre’s Median Codebook Generation(KMCG)***,the stego-image obtained is split into 16 ***,it is sent to the *** adopt this strategy to send the secret medical image and report over a network *** proposed technique is assessed with different encryption quality metrics including Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Correlation Coefﬁcient(Cr),Fea-ture Similarity Index Metric(FSIM),and Structural Similarity Index Metric(SSIM).Histogram estimation is used to conﬁrm the matching between the secret medical image before and after *** results demonstrate that the proposed technique achieves good performance with high quality of the received medical image and clear image details in a very short processing time.

Objective: To test the coalescence effect of two chemotherapy drugs at low effective dose(cisplatin and taxotere) combined with pomegranate juice on A549 cancer cells. Methods: Infrared spectroscopy method is a qualitative test that was performed to ensure the existence of the phytochemicals providing the antioxidant activity through the presence of the hydroxyl group(-OH). The viability of A549 cell line and normal MCs was tested using the neutral red uptake, Clonogenic survival, XTT and Cell migration assays. Results: Our results showed that this combination firstly led to a greater decrease in the viability of cells comparing to those treated with chemotherapy drugs alone, and secondly led to a significant reduction in cell migration. Conclusions: These data suggest a synergistic effect between the pomegranate and cisplatin which makes probably this combination a powerful option for treating lung adenocarcinoma and in parallel minimizing the systemic side effects.

We reported a rare case of abscess of the caudate lobe of the liver in a 60-year old man. We first tried computed tomography （CT） guided percutaneous drainage of the abscess but failed to eradicate the infection. Deterioration of the general condition of the patient necessitated open surgical drainage, which resulted in cure of the abscess. The peculiar anatomical location of caudate lobe abscess introduces a great challenge for the surgeon in plan- ning the appropriate management and paucity of patients with caudate lobe abscess has led to lack of guidelines for management. The non-operative interventional radiology approach has become the therapeutic choice for pyo- genic liver abscess, but is it applicable also for caudate lobe abscess？

We sampled twenty populations of the vulnera- ble endemic shrub or tree, Arbutus pavarii Pampan., at different elevations and aspects within the A1-Akhdar mountainous region of Libya. Our sampling sites were at elevations ranging from 285 to 738 m above sea level, and several different habitats： vallies （locally known as wadis）, north- and south-facing slopes, and mountaintops. All individuals within each quadrat were studied. Population size and structure, and plant functional traits were assessed. None of the populations had a stable distribution of size classes. Some consisted mostly of small plants, with little or no fruit production; others consisted only of mid-sized and large plants, with high fruit production, but no juvenile recruitment. There was a significant increase in percent cover with increasing elevation; reproductive output （the number of fruits per branch and total number of fruits per individual） also generally increased with elevation. In some of these populations the lack of recruitment, and in others the failure to produce fruit, together constituted serious demographic threats. In light of these results, recommen- dations are made for conservation of this vulnerable endemic species.

Within the semi-desert landscape of northern Libya, two sub-humid escarpments occur: Al-Akhdar in the east and Nafusa (Jabal Al-Gharbi) in the west. This study compares plant communities in the two regions, which are along an elevation gradient, in terms of species composition and diversity, frequency of different Raunkiaer life forms, and reproductive phenology. The two regions differed in species composition and life-form frequency between regions and between elevation zones within each region. Patterns were associated with the lower rainfall and lower moisture-holding capacity of soils at Nafusa, resulting in more xeric conditions. Only 13% of species were shared between the two regional landscapes. Species diversity, life-form frequency, and duration of the flowering-fruiting phenophase were all affected by elevation above sea level. The duration of flowering and fruiting in spring and fall was associated with environmental conditions, although there were different thresholds in the two regions. There was both a spring and fall episode of flowering at Nafusa, but only spring flowering at Al-Akhdar. It is anticipated that there will be a gradual shift of plant communities to higher elevations and loss of certain sensitive species in response to ongoing climate change.

Biometric security is a growing trend,as it supports the authentication of persons using conﬁdential biometric *** of the transmitted data in multi-media systems are susceptible to attacks,which affect the security of these *** systems provide sufﬁcient protection and privacy for *** recently-introduced cancellable biometric recognition systems have not been investigated in the presence of different types of *** addition,they have not been studied on different and large biometric *** point that deserves consideration is the hardware implementation of cancellable biometric recognition *** paper presents a suggested hybrid cancellable biometric recognition system based on a 3D chaotic *** rationale behind the utilization of the 3D chaotic cryptosystem is to guarantee strong encryption of biometric templates,and hence enhance the security and privacy of *** suggested cryptosystem adds signiﬁcant permutation and diffusion to the encrypted biometric *** introduce some sort of attack analysis in this paper to prove the robustness of the proposed cryptosystem against *** addition,a Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)implementation of the pro-posed system is *** obtained results with the proposed cryptosystem are compared with those of the traditional encryption schemes,such as Double Random Phase Encoding(DRPE)to reveal superiority,and hence high recogni-tion performance of the proposed cancellable biometric recognition *** obtained results prove that the proposed cryptosystem enhances the security and leads to better efﬁciency of the cancellable biometric recognition system in the presence of different types of attacks.
