Gender and Race Differences in Mental Health and Well-Being Among Older Americans During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The objectives of this study were to investigate(1) gender and race differences in mental health and psychological wellbeing among older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic and(2) whether there were significant interaction effects between gender and race. This study used the National Health and Aging Trends Study(NHATS) and COVID-19 public use data files. It focused on mental health and psychological well-being, including loneliness, no time to yourself, poor sleep quality, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD). The sample consisted of 2465 older adults, and multivariate logistic and linear regression models were adopted for the analysis. The results show that approximately two out of five older people(43%) experienced poor sleep, followed by loneliness(35%), anxiety(30%), depression(23%), and no time to themselves(11%). The average PTSD score was 11. Mental health and psychological well-being varied by gender and race. There were significant interaction effects on anxiety and depression between females and Black older adults. Black females reported lower levels of anxiety and depressive symptoms than Black males, although the differences were not statistically significant. Black older adults were more likely to experience PTSD but less likely to feel lonely and have poorer sleep than their White counterparts. Female older adults reported poorer mental health and psychological well-being than males, except for Black females. Black females had the lowest levels of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and highest quality of sleep among all females of different ethnic and racial origins.

Incense smoke(IS)is source of indoor air pollution and key risk for diverse human *** in-formation is available regarding controlled IS rodent inhalation exposure system and IS particulate matter(PM)deposition in human *** aimed to demonstrate stable ISPM physicochemical parameters of 10 incense products inside the customized whole body inhalation exposure chamber(without animal)connected to smoke generation unit via aerosol mixing *** analyzed for size segregated PM emission,ISPM in vitro aerodynamics(MMAD and GSD determination),fine and ultrafine particle's SEM,SEM-EDX and PAH *** real life exposure scenario by utilizing MMAD,GSD and PM concentration after Tier 1 exposure assessment as key input parameters,ISPM dosimetry in infant(3 months)and adult(21 years male and female)human airways was calculated using multiple-path particle dosimetry(MPPD 3.04)*** median aerodynamic diameter(MMAD)and geo-metric standard deviation(GSD)ranged between 0.55 and 2.10μm and 1.22 to 1.77(polydisperse)***1.0 and PM0.1 showed multiple morphology and presence of heavy and trace *** like acenaphthylene,anthracene,fluorene,naphthalene and phenanthrene were detected(0.84-143.17μg/g).MPPD results showed higher ISPM deposition in pulmonary region and lowest in trachea bronchial *** deposition in tissue was higher in lower,peripheral lung as compared to upper and central lung *** body inhalation exposure system showed stable IS atmosphere(physi-cochemical parameters)indicating the device suitability in future inhalation *** ISPM deposition fraction and clearance data showed deep lung penetrating and retention behavior with higher risk in infant followed by female and then *** modeled particle deposition and clearance data may be useful in risk assessment analysis of IS.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a versatile biomaterial with unique properties that make it promising for various biomedical applications, including wound healing. The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays a crucial role in wound healing, providing a structural scaffold and signaling cues for cell migration and proliferation. This study investigates the potential of BC as a scaffold for ECM production and its effect on in vivo wound healing. In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified by the addition of Green Propolis and Usnic acid to the culture medium and natural materials before the bacteria are inoculated. In vivo behaviour using natural membranes for regenerative medicine is presented and it is in edit. Overall, our findings demonstrate the potential of BC as a scaffold for ECM production and its beneficial effects on in vivo wound healing. BC-based dressings may offer a novel approach to promoting wound healing and tissue regeneration in clinical settings. Further studies are warranted to optimize BC-based therapies and explore their full potential in regenerative medicine.

The petroleum industry has a complex,inflexible and challenging supply chain(SC)that impacts both the national economy as well as people’s daily lives with a range of services,including transportation,heating,electricity,lubricants,as well as chemicals and *** the petroleum industry,supply chain management presents several challenges,especially in the logistics sector,that are not found in other *** addition,logistical challenges contribute significantly to the cost of *** regarding customer demand and supply significantly affects SC ***,SC flexibility can be maintained by addressing *** the other hand,in the real world,decision-making challenges are often ambiguous or *** some cases,measurements are incorrect owing to measurement errors,instrument faults,etc.,which lead to a pentagonal fuzzy number(PFN)which is the extension of a fuzzy ***,it is necessary to develop quantitative models to optimize logistics operations and supply chain *** study proposed a linear programming model under an uncertain *** model minimizes the cost along the refineries,depots,multimode transport and demand *** developed pentagonal fuzzy optimization,an alternative approach is developed to solve the downstream supply chain using themixed-integer linear programming(MILP)model to obtain a feasible solution to the fuzzy transportation cost *** this model,the coefficient of the transportation costs and parameters is assumed to be a pentagonal fuzzy ***,defuzzification is performed using an accuracy *** validate the model and technique and feasibility solution,an illustrative example of the oil and gas SC is considered,providing improved results compared with existing techniques and demonstrating its ability to benefit petroleum companies is the objective of this study.

Stable Computer Method for Solving Initial Value Problems with Engineering Applications

Engineering and applied mathematics disciplines that involve differential equations in general,and initial value problems in particular,include classical mechanics,thermodynamics,electromagnetism,and the general theory of relativity.A reliable,stable,efficient,and consistent numerical scheme is frequently required for modelling and simulation of a wide range of real-world problems using differential *** this study,the tangent slope is assumed to be the contra-harmonic mean,in which the arithmetic mean is used as a correction instead of Euler’s method to improve the efficiency of the improved Euler’s technique for solving ordinary differential equations with initial *** stability,consistency,and efficiency of the system were evaluated,and the conclusions were supported by the presentation of numerical test applications in *** to the stability analysis,the proposed method has a wider stability region than other well-known methods that are currently used in the literature for solving initial-value *** validate the rate convergence of the numerical technique,a few initial value problems of both scalar and vector valued types were *** proposed method,modified Euler explicit method,and other methods known in the literature have all been used to calculate the absolute maximum error,absolute error at the last grid point of the integration interval under consideration,and computational time in seconds to test the *** Lorentz system was used as an example to illustrate the validity of the solution provided by the newly developed *** method is determined to be more reliable than the commonly existing methods with the same order of convergence,as mentioned in the literature for numerical calculations and visualization of the results produced by all the methods discussed,Mat Lab-R2011b has been used.
