Application of microalgal-ZnO-NPs for reusing polyester/cotton blended fabric wastes after modification by cellulases enzymes

Polyester/cotton(PET/C)blended fabric wastes are produced daily in huge amounts,which constitutes an economic loss and an environmental threat if it is not reused *** textile waste recycling technologies put much effort into developing fabric materials with unique properties,such as bioactivity or new optical goods based on modern technologies,especially *** this study,zinc oxide nanoparticles(ZnO-NPs)were biosynthesized using the aqueous extract of Dunaliella *** immobilized on PET/C waste fabrics after enzymatically activated with *** produced Dunaliella-ZnO-NPs(10–20 nm with a spherical shape)were characterized by High-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-Ray diffraction analysis(XRD),and Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray analyzer(SEM-EDAX),and some functional groups,such as CH,CO,NH,and CN(due to the presence of carboxyl,proteins and hydroxyl groups),were detected,revealing the biosynthesis of *** analysis showed that the resulting ZnO-NPS had potent antimicrobial effects,Ultraviolet(UV)protection capabilities,and no cytotoxic effects on the normal human fibroblast cell line(BJ1).On the other hand,enzymatic treatments of PET/C fabric waste with cellulases enhanced the immobilization of biosynthetic nanoparticles on their *** PET/C fabrics loaded with Dunaliella-ZnO-NPs showed antibacterial and UV protection capabilities making them an eco-friendly and cost-effective candidate for numerous *** applications can include the manufacture of active packaging devices,wastewater treatment units,and many other environmental applications.

Fire resistance evaluation through synthetic fire tests and generative adversarial networks

This paper introduces a machine learning approach to address the challenge of limited data resulting from costly and time-consuming fire experiments by enlarging small fire test data sets and predicting the fire resistance of reinforced concrete *** approach begins by creating deep learning models,namely generative adversarial networks and variational autoencoders,to learn the spatial distribution of real fire *** then use these models to generate synthetic tabular samples that closely resemble realistic fire resistance values for reinforced concrete *** generated data are employed to train state-of-the-art machine learning techniques,including Extreme gradient Boost,Light gradient Boosting Machine,Categorical Boosting.algorithm,Support Vector Regression,Random Forest,Decision Tree,Multiple Linear Regression,Polynomial Regression,Support Vector Machine,Kernel Support Vector Machine,Naive Bayes,and K-Nearest Neighbors,which can predict the fire resistance of the columns through regression and *** learning analyses achieved highly accurate predictions of fire resistance values,outperforming traditional models that relied solely on limited experimental *** study highlights the potential for using machine learning and deep learning analyses to revolutionize the field of structural engineering by improving the accuracy and efficiency of fire resistance evaluations while reducing the reliance on costly and time-consuming experiments.

The nature and movement of thrusts in the eastern Iranian orogen:Sechengi Area on the northern border of Lut and Sistan

The eastern Iranian range,known as the Sistan suture zone in the past,has recently been identified as the Sistan *** Paleogene orogeny is located between the Lut and Afghan *** structural analysis shows that most of the thrusts dip towards the NW so that the Permo-Triassic sediments and Jurassic micro-diorites of the Lut Block overthrusted over the younger *** studies show that the tectonic vergence was from the NW to the SE of the Sechengi area in the NW part of Sistan *** recognized three deformation phases in eastern *** first N-S deformation event(D1)resulted in the formation of tight E-W folds(F1)and associated cleavages(S1).The second E-W deformation event(D2),which occurred in the late Paleogene led to the bending of older structures,including the axial plane of the first-generation folds giving them a new northwest direction(F2).Additionally,the ramp of the first-phase thrusts(striking E-W)was reactivated,acquiring a new NNW orientation and exhibiting SSE tectonic *** third deformation event(D3)resulted in the formation of NNE and WNW conjugate faults in eastern *** consecutive deformation events perpendicular to each other are inconsistent with the models of simple linear orogen presented for eastern Iran(*** of eastern Iran continental crust and subsequence linear collision)and seem more consistent with the buckling orogeny(Orocline).

Tilt Angle Optimality Criteria for Stand alone PV Systems

The conventional approach to optimizing tilt angles for fixed solar panels aims to maximize energy generation over the entire year. However, in the context of a supply controlled electric grid, where solar energy availability varies, this criterion may not be optimal. This study explores two alternative optimization criteria focused on maximizing baseload supply potential and minimizing required storage capacity to address seasonality in energy generation. The optimal tilt angles determined for these criteria differed significantly from the standard approach. This research highlights additional factors crucial for designing solar power systems beyond gross energy generation, essential for the global transition towards a fully renewable energy-based electric grid in the future.

Cardiovascular risk factors affecting COVID-19 outcomes at a tertiary referral hospital in northwest Iran: A prospective cohort study

Objective:To investigate cardiovascular risk factors affecting COVID-19 outcomes in a tertiary referral ***:This prospective cohort study analyzed 269 participants with *** primary outcomes were ICU admission,prolonged hospital stay duration,and in-hospital *** secondary outcomes included death,chronic symptoms,and NYHA functional class during follow-up ***:A total of 412 patients with COVID-19 symptoms were enrolled in the study,and out of which 269 patients had complete medical records and positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR test results,fulfilling the study criteria were *** patients were divided into two groups,with cardiovascular comorbidities(group A,n=122),such as established cardiovascular disease,diabetes mellitus,and hypertension,and without cardiovascular comorbidities(group B,n=147).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that patients with underlying hypertension,diabetes,and established cardiovascular disease had a 1.55(95%CI:1.28-2.26),1.62(95%CI:1.34-2.13),and 1.63(95%CI:1.07-5.34)-fold risk of mortality,respectively in the adjusted ***:Hospitalized COVID-19 patients with predisposing cardiovascular risk factors are more susceptible to develop worse *** attention should be paid to the management and follow-up of these patients.

THIRD ORDER SHEAR DEFORMATION MODEL FOR LAMINATED SHELLS WITH FINITE ROTATIONS:FORMULATION AND CONSISTENT LINEARIZATION

The paper presents an approach for the formulation of general laminated shells based on a third order shear deformation theory. These shells undergo finite (unlimited in size) rotations and large overall motions but with small strains. A singularity-free parametrization of the rotation field is adopted. The constitutive equations, derived with respect to laminate curvilinear coordinates, are applicable to shell elements with an arbitrary number of orthotropic layers and where the material principal axes can vary from layer to layer. A careful consideration of the consistent linearization procedure pertinent to the proposed parametrization of finite rotations leads to symmetric tangent stiffness matrices. The matrix formulation adopted here makes it possible to implement the present formulation within the framework of the finite element method as a straightforward task.

Toppling failure of rock mass/soil slope is an important geological and environmental *** its failure mechanism under different conditions has great significance in *** toppling failure of a cutting slope occurred in a hydropower station in Kyushu,Japan illustrates that the joint characteristic played a significant role in the occurrence of rock slope tipping ***,in order to consider the mechanical properties of jointed rock mass and the influence of geometric conditions,a simplified analytical approach based on the limit equilibrium method for modeling the flexural toppling of cut rock slopes is proposed to consider the influence of the mechanical properties and geometry condition of jointed rock *** theoretical solution is compared with the numerical solution taking Kyushu Hydropower Station in Japan as one case,and it is found that the theoretical solution obtained by the simplified analysis method is consistent with the numerical analytical solution,thus verifying the accuracy of the simplified ***,the goodman-Bray approach conventionally used in engineering practice is improved according to the analytical *** results show that the allowable slope angle may be obtained by the improved goodman-Bray approach considering the joint spacing,the joint frictional angle and the tensile strength of rock mass together.
