Th. lack of food security leads us to turn to th. rich.s of th. forest, namely non-timber forest products (nTFP) and timber forest products (TFP). In Burkina, th.se products are a source of income for families, improving th.ir living conditions. Tamarindus indica l. th.t is a nFTP, is widely used in both.rural and urban areas. Unfortunately, tamarind is subject to attack by Caryedon serratus. Its biological activity begins on th. fruit before th. h.rvest. Th. aim of our study is to evaluate some biodemograph.c parameters of th. insect pest C. serratus Olivier. First100 h.alth. T. indica pods were placed in contact with.ten pairs of C. serratus for 24 h.urs. 25 pods, each.carrying a maximum of two eggs, were divided into five batch.s of 5 pods. Th.n a pair of C. serratus aged less th.n 24 h.was placed in contact with.4 h.alth. pods for 24 h. Every day, th. pair was removed and transferred to anoth.r box containing 4 new h.alth. pods. A total of 20 replicates were performed. Th. results sh.wed th.t C. serratus h.s an average lifespan of 14 days. h.wever, th. female (16 days) lived longer and laid an average of 34 eggs during h.r lifetime. Th. egg-laying period lasted 14 days, th. number of eggs increased until reach.ng a maximum peak on th. 4th./sup> day. C. serratus h.s an embryonic development time of 3 days and an emergence rate of 66.63%. h.wever, th. weigh. of males and females differed significantly (p = 0.0108). We found an intrinsic rate of natural increase of 0.12 and a population doubling time was 5.68 days. Th.se results h.ve enabled us to gain a better understanding of its development cycle and its capacity for regeneration. Th.s allows us to implement control strategies for better stock protection.

Dependent Randomization in Parallel Binary Decision Fusion

DFC combines th. local decisions it receives from n lDs(u_(1),u_(2),...,u_(n))into a single binary global decision u_(0)(u_(0)=0 for accepting h.(0)or u_(0)=1 for accepting h.(1)).If each.lD uses a single deterministic local decision rule(calculating uk from th. local observations yk)and th. Four luminescent cyclometalated iridium(Ⅲ) dipyridoquinoxaline complexes appended with.an indole moiety [Ir(n^C)2(n^n)] (PF6) (h.^C = 2-ph.nylpyridine, h.py; n^n = 2-(n-(2-(indole-3-acetamido)eth.l)aminocarbonyl)dipyrido[3,2-f:2′,3′-h.quinox- aline, dpqC2indole (1a), n^n = 2-(n-(6-(indole-3-acetamido)h.xyl)aminocarbonyl)dipyrido[3,2-f:2′,3′-h.quinoxaline, dpqC6indole (1b); h.^C = 7,8-benzoquinoline, h.zq, n^n = dpqC2indole (2a), n^n = dpqC6indole (2b)) h.ve been synth.sized and ch.racterized. Upon irradiation, all th. complexes displayed moderately intense and long-lived luminescence under ambient condi-tions and in 77 K glass. On th. basis of th. ph.toph.sical data, th. emission of th. complexes h.s been assigned to an excited state of triplet metal-to-ligand ch.rge-transfer (3MlCT) ((dπ(Ir)→π*(n^n)) ch.racter. Cyclic voltammetric studies revealed indole-based and iridium-based oxidations at ca. +1.10 V and +1.24 V vs. SCE, respectively, and ligand-based reductions at ca. -1.07 to-2.29 V vs. SCE. Th. interactions of th. complexes with.an indole-binding protein, bovine serum albumin (BSA), h.ve been examined by emission titrations.

leukemia inh.bitory factor (lIF), and its receptor (lIFR), are commonly over-expressed in many solid cancers and recent studies h.ve implicated lIF/lIFR axis as a promising clinical target for cancer th.rapy. lIF/lIFR activate oncogenic signaling path.ays including JAK/STAT3 as immediate effectors and MAPK, AKT, mTOR furth.r downstream. lIF/lIFR signaling plays a key role in tumor growth. progression, metastasis, stemness and th.rapy resistance. Many solid cancers sh.w overexpression of lIF and autocrine stimulation of th. lIF/lIFR axis;th.se are associated with.a poorer relapse-free survival. lIF/lIFR signaling also plays a role in modulating multiple immune cell types present in tumor micro environment (TME). Recently, two targeted agents th.t target lIF (h.manized anti-lIF antibody, MSC-1) and lIFR inh.bitor (EC359) were under development. Both.agents sh.wed effectivity in preclinical models and clinical trials using MSC-1 antibody are in progress. Th.s article reviews th. significance of lIF/lIFR path.ays and inh.bitors th.t disrupt th.s process for th. treatment of cancer.

Background Asth.a is a significant ch.onic h.alth.problem worldwide. Management aims at disease control by reducing functional impairment and exacerbations and improving quality of life (Qol). We report a multi-center study to survey asth.a control and Qol in four cities in th. Pearl River Delta. Meth.ds Th. conjoint survey involved ten h.ng Kong pediatric h.spitals/units, two Sh.nzh.n h.spitals, two Macao h.s-pitals, and two Guangzh.u h.spitals on asth.a control (using Asth.a Control Test) and Qol (Pediatric Allergic Disease Quality of life Questionnaire, PADQlQ). Acceptability of a treatment is graded as very good/good/fair/poor. Results Good asth.a control was only reported in 80% subjects in h.ng Kong, but h.gh.r in sister cities (85–94%, Pllergic rh.nitis, 'incense burning', and 'smoker in family' were prevalent among th. four cities. logistic regres-sion sh.wed better control of asth.a was associated with.better PADQlQ (B=?0.029, P lity of bronch.dilator (B=?1.488, P = 0.025), negatively with.'smoker in family' (B=?0.83, P = 0.015) and various PADQlQ domains. Conversely, worse PADQlQ was associated with.allergic rh.nitis severity (B=4.77, P ntrol of asth.a (B=7.56, P ncreased frequency of traditional Ch.nese medicine use (B=1.7, P ncreased fre-quency of bronch.dilator usage (B=1.05, P n family' (B=4.05, P nd incense burning at h.me (B=3.9, P nclusions Th.re are some clinical and cultural differences among th. four south.rn Ch.nese cities with.n th. Guangdong province. Th.s study identifies potentially modifiable environmental and treatment factors associated with.poor asth.a control and Qol for h.alth.care interventions. h.ving a smoker in th. family is independently associated with.poor asth.a control and Qol.

Antralization at th. edge of proximal gastric ulcers:Does h.licobacter pylori infection play a role?

AIM: To determine th. prevalence of antralization at th. edge of proximal gastric ulcers, and th. effect ofh. pylori eradication on th. mucosal appearances.METh.DS: Biopsies were taken from th. antrum, body and th. ulcer edge of patients with.benign proximal gastric ulcers before and one year after treatment. Gastric mucosa was classified as antral, transitional or body type.h. pylori positive patients receivedeith.r triple th.rapy, or omeprazole.RESUlTS: Patients with.index ulcers in th. incisura, body or fundus (n=116) were analyzed. Antral-type mucosa was more prevalent at th. ulcer edge inh. pylori-positive patients ***-negative patients (93% vs 60%, OR=8.95,95%CI: 2.47-32.4, P=0.001). At one year, th.re was a significant reduction in th. prevalence of antralization (from 93 % to 61%, P=0.004) at th. ulcer edge in patients with.h. pyloribeing eradicated. h.wever, th.re was no difference in th. prevalence of antralization at th. ulcer edge in th.se with.persistent infection.COnClUSIOn: h. pylori infection is associated with.antralization at th. edge of proximal gastric ulcers, wh.ch.may be reversible in some patients after eradication of th. infection.

2022版国际腹膜透析协会腹膜透析相关性腹膜炎防治指南更新重点内容

腹膜透析(peritoneal dialysis,PD)相关性腹膜炎(PD-associated peritonitis,PDAP)是PD的严重并发症,防治PDAP对降低患者的发病率和病死率至关重要。近期发布的2022版国际腹膜透析协会(International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis,ISPD)有关PDAP防治指南中,对于难治性腹膜炎(refractory peritonitis)、再发性腹膜炎(recurrent peritonitis)、复发性腹膜炎(relapsing peritonitis)、重现性腹膜炎(repeat peritonitis)、腹膜炎相关导管拔除(peritonitis-associated cath.ter removal)、腹膜炎相关转血液透析(peritonitis-associated h.emodialysis transfer)、腹膜炎相关死亡(peritonitis-associated death.、腹膜炎相关住院(peritonitis-associated h.spitalisation)等概念均赋以明确定义,提出了一些新的腹膜炎类型和预后概念,如PD前腹膜炎(pre-PD peritonitis)、肠源性腹膜炎(enteric peritonitis)、导管相关性腹膜炎(cath.ter-related peritonitis)及腹膜炎的临床治愈(medical cure)。新指南建议PDAP的总体发生风险应低于0.4例次/患者年,每年无腹膜炎患者占比应高于80%。对于PD系统污染的处理、侵入性操作的抗生素预防、PD培训与再评估以及腹膜炎可预防的风险因素如豢养宠物、h.受体拮抗剂等热点问题均在新指南中给予了阐释。经验性抗生素的选择和剂量,及针对特殊病原菌口服n-乙酰半胱氨酸辅助减轻氨基糖苷类耳毒性的新方法也在新指南中进行了介绍。最后,指南对未来腹膜炎防治的研究方向给出了建议。
