Genotype Environment Interaction (G ×E) of Heat Tolerant Wheat Genotypes over Locations and Years

Twenty heat tolerant wheat genotypes were evaluated in three heat stress environments of Bangladesh such as Wheat Research Center (WRC), Nashipur, Dinajpur, Regional Wheat Research Center, BARI, Gazipur, Regional Wheat Research Center, RARS, Jashore in 2015-2016. The experiments were conducted in RCBD with three replications in 2015-2016. The stability and response to change of location and sowing time of the genotypes were assessed through AMMI model and regression coefficient analysis on seven characters, viz. days to heading, days to maturity, plant height (cm), spikes m-2, grains spike-1, 1000-grain weight (g) and yield (kg·ha-1). Among the linear interactions, sowing time alone exerted the maximum sum of square (335,388,000.00**) and among the non-linear interactions, location × year paid the highest effect (7,676,490.00**), which was followed by year × location × sowing time interaction (3,956,500.00**). The highest grain yield (4475.3 kg·ha-1) was obtained from the genotype G13, followed by the genotypes G17 (4460.8 kg·ha-1) and G19 (4404.7 kg·ha-1). The genotype G8 had the smallest interaction effect, while the genotype G14 followed by G10 responded vigorously to amelioration. The genotypes G13, G18 and G19 showed averagely high yield and showed stability over the environmental modifications. The other two genotypes G20 and G12 exhibited great reduction of yield potential under unfavorable environment. The environment 121 proceeded by J121 and G131 appeared as favorable environments. The genotypes G13 and G19 produced high yield (kg·ha-1) in the favorable environments. The genotypes G16 and G18 high IPCa1 scores, indicated sensitive to mega-environmental changes. The best genotype with respect to environment was genotype G13. Genotypes G17 and G19 were best for site E1;genotypes G14, G16 and G18 were best for site E2.

The electrolysis of water for hydrogen generation has shown immense promise as an energy conversion technology for the green energy *** concurrently occurring electrochemical reactions in water electrolysis(hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions)are sluggish in nature and therefore the employment of electrocatalysts is highly ***-metal-based electrocatalysts(Pt,Ru O_(2),Ir O_(2),etc.)have shown superior activity towards these ***,their lower natural abundance and inferior stability make the cost to performance ratio of water electrolysis too ***,huge amount of research efforts are being carried out to develop electrocatalysts consisting of earth abundant elements(transition metals,carbon etc.)as the replacement of these noble-metal-based *** metal compounds,carbonaceous and hybrid materials have shown promise as efficient electrocatalysts but there is still huge gap between the activities of these materials and the noble-metal-based *** strategies like morphology modulation,elemental doping,defect engineering *** being deployed to enhance the activity of these noble-metal-free *** review summarizes these strategies and thoroughly discusses the reason behind the changes in activity of the electrocatalysts owing to these ***,the remaining research gaps and future prospects in this field are also discussed in detail.

The Himalayan cryosphere:A critical assessment and evaluation of glacial melt fraction in the Bhagirathi basin

The cryosphere constitutes an important subset of the hydrosphere. The Himalayan cryosphere is a significant contributor to the hydrological budget of a large river system such as the Ganges. Basic data on the cryosphere in the Himalaya is inadequate and also has large uncertainties. The data on glacial melt component in the Himalayan rivers of India also shows high variability. The Gangotri glacier which constitutes nearly a fifth of the glacierized area of the Bhagirathi basin represents one of the fastest receding, large valley glaciers in the region which has been surveyed and monitored for over sixty years. The availability of measurement over a long period and relatively small glacier-fed basin for the Bha- girathi river provides suitable constraints for the measurement of the glacial melt fraction in a Himalayan river. Pre- and post-monsoon samples reveal a decreasing trend of depletion of 0180 in the river water from glacier snout （Gaumukh） to the confluence of the Bhagiratbi river with the Alaknanda river near devprayag. Calculations of existing glacial melt fraction （-30% at Rishikesh） are not consistent with the reported glacial thinning rates. It is contended that the choice of unsuitable end-members in the three component mixing model causes the overestimation of glacial melt component in the river discharge. Careful selection of end members provides results （-11% at devprayag） that are consistent with the expected thinning rates.

Photoluminescence and Energy Transfer Process in Bi<sup>3+</sup>/Sm<sup>3+</sup>Co-Doped Phosphate Zinc Lithium Glasses

Present paper reports on luminescence characteristics of individually doped Bi3+: PZL, Sm3+: PZL and co-doped (Bi3+/Sm3+): PZL (50P2O5-30ZnO-20LiF) glasses prepared by a melt quenching method. The results revealed that Bi3+: PZL glass exhibited a broad emission peak at 440 nm (3P1→1S0) under excitation wavelength 300 nm (1S0→3P1). Sm3+: PZL doped glass has shown a prominent orange emission at 601 nm (4G5/2→6H7/2) with an excitation wavelength 403 nm (6H5/2→4F7/2). Later on Bi3+ is added to Sm3+: PZL glass by increasing its concentrations from 0.1 - 1.5 mol%. By co-doping Bi3+ to Sm3+: PZL glass, Sm3+ emission intensity has been considerably enhanced till 1.0 mol% due to energy transfer from Bi3+ to Sm3+ and when its concentration exceeds this critical value (1.0 mol%) there has been a drastic decrease in Sm3+ emission which is explained accordingly from photoluminescence spectra, energy level diagram and lifetime measurements.

GPS measured static and kinematic offsets at near and far field of the 2011 Mw 9.0 Tohoku-Oki earthquake

The Mw 9.0 Tohoku-Oki earthquake that hit the mainland Japan on 11 th March, 2011 had resulted a devastating Tsunami due to an active thrusting between the Pacific and the North American Plates. Static and kinematic offsets at the offshore epicentre of the Mw 9.0 event remain unanswered and being investigated along with their near and far field limiting distances from the epicentre. Accordingly, offset measurements from 60 continuously operating IGS and GEONET GNSS stations were radially classified from the epicentre and interpreted with analytical models to find their linear offset decay rates. Co-and post-seismic static positional anomaly offsets of sixty days show almost all near field stations had strong or appreciable eastward or south eastward static shifts. Near stations(1.5 m. Spatial models of projected N-S static and kinematic offsets show their asymmetrical distributions around the epicentre with maximum model offset of-1.84 m displaced towards south at-45 km north of the epicentre. The Tohoku-Oki earthquake produced a resultant kinematic offset of-10.2 m towards East at its offshore epicentre;while the estimated near field static offset is ~9.82 m. However, both estimates are bigger than double the resultant offset measured value(~4.3 m) in the Japanese mainland using GPS. The difference in the kinematic and static near field offsets highlight that the near surface had elastic or in-elastic kinematic strain dissipation as against the lithospheric level viscoelastic static response, which resulted rapid kinematic strain release(1.12 cm/km)within the limiting radius of ~220 km from the Tohoku-Oki epicentr
