To the Editor:Complete traumatic transection of the suprahepatic inferior vena cava(IVC)has almost invariably a fatal *** are very few cases in the literature of patients that survived this type of *** we presented a case that was approached multidisciplinary(trauma surgeon,liver transplant surgeon,perfusionist,anesthesiologist,and cardiac surgeon)with a successful outcome including early recovery of all body functions and quality of life.

We show that the second magnetization peak(SMP),i.e.,an increase in the magnetization hysteresis loop width in type-11 superconductors,vanishes for samples smaller than a critical size,We argue that the SMP is not related to the critical current enhancement but can be well explainde within a frameword of the thermomagenetic flux-jump in stability theory,where flux jumps reduce the absolute irreversible magnetization relative to the isothermal critical state value at low enough magnetic *** recovering of the isothermal critical sate with increasing field leads to the *** low-field SMP takes place in both *** and high**** *** results show that the rsstoration of the isothermal critical state is rsponsible for the SMP occurrence in both cases.

Paraoxonase-1(POn-1)is an enzyme that hydrolyzes organophosphate *** presence of polymorphisms in POn-1(L55M and Q192R)decreases its enzyme activity and increases the risk of central nervous system(CnS)toxicity in occupationally exposed farmers,leading to chronic degenerative diseases and *** studied 103 farmers in the region of Cienega Jalisco,Mexico,which were exposed mainly to organophosphate *** used serum and plasma samples to assay POn-1 activity and perform polymorphism analysis(L55M and Q192R)using qPCR and TaqMan probes,*** both polymorphisms,there was high percentage of heterozygosity(55 LL=0.19,LM=0.75,MM=0.06;192 QQ=0.12,QR=0.72,RR=0.16),while the allelic frequencies were more balanced(L=0.56,M=0.44;Q=0.48,R=0.52).There were no significant differences in enzyme activity of L55M polymorphism genotypes(LL=179.27;LM=192.11;MM=122.11;QQ=135.74;QR=187.90;RR=209;p>0.05).But there was a slight decrease in enzyme activity for the Q192R polymorphism *** genotype and alcohol consumption associated with slight increases in enzyme ***,genotype and tobacco consumption did not have a significant effect on POn-1 activity(μU/mL)(p>0.05).Overall,alcohol and tobacco consumption affected POn-1 enzyme activity(μU/mL)up to 21.1%.The data obtained in this study reveal that POn-1 activity is affected by genetic variants such as Q192R and alcohol *** may influence the susceptibility of populations to organophosphate poisoning.

We consider two DnA sequences and compare both sequences. One of the crucial issues in bioinformatics is to measure the similarity of two DnA sequences. To this purpose one has to consider different alignments between both sequences. The number of alignments grows very rapidly with the length of the sequences. In this paper we give exact, explicit and computable formulas for the number of different possible alignments and for some classes of reduced alignments. We provide a new insight into the theory of DnA sequence alignment.

Green synthesis is an alternative method for obtaining nanoparticles for environmentally friendly purposes. The present work describes the synthesis and characterization of titanium oxide nanoparticles, starting from three natural sources: orange peel, hibiscus rosa sinensis and Aloe vera. Titanium (IV) tetrabutoxide in ethanol solution was used as precursor. The methodology used was based on the sol-gel technique, through which TiO2 nanoparticles were obtained in the anatase phase. The characterization of the nanoparticles was carried out by means of x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR), which allowed the identification of a good degree of purity and crystallinity of the samples obtained.

Regions near latitude 0are characterized by warm-humid climate and also by high *** these regions,metal roofs has been the most widely used ***,in the last decades,the use of heavy concrete roofs has increased *** its material characteristics,this roof typology offers a higher thermal resistance and thermal mass than a metal *** strategies focus on the use of these characteristics,as well as the use of high reflectivity and ***,the impact of cloudiness on the effectiveness of these strategies has been little *** research focuses on the impact of reflectivity and emissivity change on the thermal performance of these two roofs in a cloudy warm-humid *** achieve this objective,simulations validated with measurements were *** results show that the efficiency of reflectivity and emissivity is lower in this region compared to other *** impact of these properties is further reduced with increasing thermal mass or decreasing thermal transmittance,so the effectiveness of reflectivity and emissivity is minimal on the concrete ***,this study supports that a metal roof with a reflectivity and emissivity above 0.70 can offer lower daily average temperatures than a concrete roof.

Composition and Physico-Chemical Properties of Meat from Capons Fed Cereals

Chemical composition, physico-chemical properties and fatty acid composition of breast and drumstick meat from capons （castrated male cockerels） fed cereals were studied. Three groups of capons were reared. One group was fed ad libitum the same commercial diet until the 4th mon of life. The last month of its life, the capons of this group were fed corn. The second and third group of capons were fed the same diet from caponization. The second group was fed mixture of corn （50%） and wheat （50%）. The third group of capons was fed 2/3 corn and 1/3 mixture of corn （50%） and barley （50%）. Capons were reared under free-range conditions and slaughtered at 150 d of age. Caponization was performed at 48 d. no signiifcant effects of feeding in chemical composition, pH, water holding capacity, drip and cooking losses and texture of the meat were observed. The meat of the third group （capons fed 83%corn） was more yellow and showed higher content of C18：2 than that of the other capons.
