We have newly designed an electrostatic sensor,called an electric field mill(EFM),to simplify the estimation of the charge position and charge amount transferred by lightning *** is necessary for this remote estimation of the transferred charge to measure electric field changes caused by charge loss at the time of a lightning strike at multiple *** multiple-station measurement of electric field changes,not only speed but also phase for exposure and shielding of the sensing plates inside each EFM of the array should be synchronized to maintain the sensitivities of the deployed ***,there is no such EFM with specified speed and phase control performance of the rotary ***,we developed a new EFM in which the rotary mechanism was controlled consistently to within 3%error by a GPS *** EFMs had been distributed in the Hokuriku area of Japan during the winter season of 2022-2023 for a test *** we describe the design and a simple calibration method for our new EFM *** analysis method based on the assumption of a simple monopole charge structure is also *** validation,locations of assumed point charges were compared with three-dimensional lightning mapping data estimated by radio observations in the MF-HF *** results indicated the validity to estimate transferred charge amounts and positions of winter cloud-to-ground lightning discharges with our new EFM array.

Comprehensive Summary,Regulating spin crossover(SCO)behavior,especially controlling the spin transition steps,is an important scientific issue,mainly because people aim to control spin bistability and ***,SCO bistability can be regulated by changing the ligand-modifying species,non-coordinated anions,guest molecules,and metal-ion ***,the control of multistability is extremely challenging,especially in Fe(III)SCO ***,we report that[FeIII(H-5-Br-thsa)(5-Br-thsa)]·H2O(5-Br-thsa=(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)hydrazinecarbothioamide),a compound we have reported before,exists in two polymorphic forms:polymorph 1 exhibits three-step SCO,and polymorph 2 shows five-step SCO,with multi-step SCO behavior effectively regulated by *** to single-crystal and powder X-ray diffractometry,polymorphs 1 and 2 crystallize in different space groups during their spin transitions,with two-step symmetry breaking observed(Pbcn→Pnc2→Pbcn for polymorph 1;P21/n→Pn→P21/n for polymorph 2).We realized that the behavior of these two polymorphs depends significantly on the structure,including(i)the average Fe—N bond distance,(ii)deformation of octahedral FeIII atoms,and(iii)distinct crystal packing,which account for the large differences observed in magnetic properties.

Interactions between chemodiverse dissolved organic matter(DOM)and biodiverse microbes are governed by a myriad of intrinsic and extrinsic factors which are not well ***,we update and bridge the gap of this interdisciplinary theme *** an ecosystem level,aquatic ecosystems dominated by algae-sourced DOM(e.g.,eutrophic lake or coastal upwelling areas)harbor more biolabile DOM,such as directly assimilable monomers and readily hydrolysable ***,other ecosystems prevailed by DOM supply from soil and vascular plants(e.g.,river or wetland)have more biorefractory DOM,such as low molecular weight(LMW)residue of aliphatic C skeletons and geopolymers.A variety of heterotrophic bacteria,archaea,fungi,phagotrophic protists,and even photoautotrophic phytoplankton shows genomic and/or culturing experimental evidence of being able to process a diverse type of *** various biodegradable organics have different chemical structures and chemical bonds such as carbohydrates,amino acids,proteins,lignins,lipids,carboxylic acids,humic acids,hydrocarbons,and ***,bio-production of metabolism intermediates and/or biorefractory organics(e.g.,carboxyl-rich alicyclic molecules,CRAM)is observed despite general decay of bulk dissolved organic carbon(DOC)during bioassay *** particular,emerging evidence shows that archaea contribute significantly to biomass in the marine mesopelagic zone and subsurface environments and their abundance often increases with depth in ***,not only intrinsic factors(e.g.,DOM composition and structure),but also extrinsic ones(e.g.,sunlight and dissolved oxygen)play important roles in interplays between DOM and microbes.

The development of reliable catalysts with both excellent activity and recyclability for carbon dioxide(CO_(2))hydrogenation is ***,a ternary hybrid heterogeneous catalyst,involving mononuclear Ru complex,N,P-containing porous organic polymers(POPs),and mesoporous hollow carbon spheres(Ru^(3+)-POPs@MHCS)is reported for CO_(2)hydrogenation to *** on comprehensive structural analyses,we demonstrated that Ru^(3+)-POPs were successfully immobilized within *** optimized Ru^(3+)-0.5POPs@MHCS catalyst,which was obtained with about 5 wt.%Ru^(3+)and 0.5 mmol POPs polymers confined into 0.3 g MHCS,exhibited high catalytic activity for CO_(2)hydrogenation to formate(turnover number(TON)>1,200 for 24 h under mild reaction conditions(4.0 MPa,120℃))and improved durability,compared to Ru^(3+)catalysts without POPs polymers(Ru^(3+)-MHCS)and unencapsulated MHCS(Ru^(3+)-0.5POPs)*** improved catalytic performance is attributed to the high surface area and large pore volume of MHCS which favors dispersion and stabilization of Ru^(3+)-***,the MHCS and POPs showed high CO_(2)adsorption ***^(3+)-POPs encapsulated into MHCS reduces the activation energy barrier for CO_(2)hydrogenation to formate.

The effects of alternating current poling(ACP)at 80℃on electrical properties of[001]-oriented 0.72 Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-0.28PbTiO_(3)(PMN-28PT)single crystals(SCs)have been *** square-wave ACP SCs poled at high voltage(HV,5 kV_(rms)/cm)occasionally showed large fluctuations and low opposite values of piezoelectric coefficient(d_(33)=±1370 pC/N)in one *** revealed spuriousmode vibrations(SMV)of impedance ***,after depolarizing and repolarizing the sample with a sine-wave ACP at low voltage(LV,3.5 kV_(rms)/cm),the d_(33) enhanced to be 1720 pC/N(+26%)and did not exhibit large fluctuation or opposite values in one plate any *** impedance spectrum became clean and the abnormal SMV *** proposed four possible mechanisms of the SMV,and speculate that the main cause maybe by macro-scale sub-domain structure and/or phase change in the main domain structure and/or phase in the SC plate due to the specific poling conditions not eternal mechanical damage of PMN-PT *** study will be useful to realize a high d_(33) and improve other properties of PMN-PT ACP SC ultrasonic transducers without any SMV for high-frequency medical imaging equipment.

After field cooling(FC)alternating current poling(ACP),we investigated the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of[001]_(pc)-oriented 0.24Pb(In_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_(3)(PIN)-0.46Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)(PMN)-0.30PbTiO3(PT)(PIMN-0.30PT)single crystals(SCs),which were manufactured by continuous-feeding Bridgman(CF BM)within morphotropic phase boundary(MPB)*** ACP with 4 kVrms/cm from 100 to 70℃,the PIMN-0.30PT SC attained high dielectric permittivity of 8330,piezoelectric coefficient(d_(33))of 2750 pC/N,bar mode electromechanical coupling factorκ_(33)of 0.96 with higher phase change temperature(T_(pc))of 103℃,and high Curie temperature(7c)of 180℃.These values are the highest ever reported as PIMN-xPT SC system with Tpc>100℃.The enhancement of these properties is attributed to the induced low symmetry multi-phase supported by phase *** work indicates that FC ACP is a smart and promising method to enhance piezoelectric properties of relaxor-PT ferroelectric SCs including PIMN-xPT,and provides a route to a wide range of piezoelectric device applications.
