Calibration of Modified Spalart-Allmaras Model Parameters for Linear Compressor Cascade Corner Flow

In this study, Bayesian parameter calibration is applied to Saplart-Allmaras(SA) turbulence model, and the prediction improvement by the calibrated model is demonstrated. The quantity of interest(QOI) is the pitch-wise distribution of Mach number in the corner separation flow region. The 10 model parameters included in the SA model with Rotation-Curvature correction are considered as random variables obeying uniform prior probability distributions. The order of generalized Polynomial Chaos(g PC) used for sensitivity analysis and surrogate model in calibration is incrementally increased during the calibration process. Posterior convergence is obtained at the 3 rd order expansion level in this study. At this final level, sensitivity analysis indicates 3 model parameters, cb1, κ and cr3 are the most influential random variables, and 3-parameter Bayesian calibration is conducted. The likelihood function in the Bayesian theorem is specified in the form of Gaussian distribution, including experimental uncertainty. The combination of prior and likelihood brings the posterior distribution of model parameters, and Maximum A Posterior(MAP) value is selected as a calibrated parameter set. The flow simulation with calibrated parameters shows a significant increase in the accuracy of the Mach number profile in the corner separation region. The increase in accuracy is attributed to enlarged turbulent viscosity due to the parameter modification of the turbulent viscosity source term. The calibrated parameter is also tested in the off-design flow field, not included in the calibration process. The calibrated CFD again shows improved accuracy for corner separation prediction, and the effectiveness of the parameter set outside of the calibration field is demonstrated.

Cognitive Disorders, Depression and Anxiety in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy: An Overview

Partial epilepsies, originating in a specific brain region, affect about 60% of adults with epilepsy. Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most prevalent subtype within this category, often necessitating surgical intervention due to its refractoriness to antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Hippocampal sclerosis, a common underlying pathology, often exacerbates the severity by introducing cognitive and emotional challenges. This review delves deeper into the cognitive profile of TLE, along with the risk factors for cognitive disorders, depression, and anxiety in this population.

True left-sided gallbladder with variations of bile duct and cholecystic vein

A left-sided gallbladder without a right-sided round ligament,which is called a true left-sided gallbladder,is extremely rare.A 71-year-old woman was referred to our hospital due to a gallbladder *** tomography(CT) revealed not only a gallbladder polyp but also the gallbladder located to the left of the round ligament connected to the left umbilical *** portography revealed that the main portal vein diverged into the right posterior portal vein and the common trunk of the left portal vein and right anterior portal *** cholangiography revealed that the infraportal bile duct of segment 2 joined the common bile *** cholecystectomy was performed for a gallbladder polyp,and the intraoperative finding showed that the cholecystic veins joined the round ligament.A true left-sided gallbladder is closely associated with several anomalies; therefore,surgeons encountering a true left-sided gallbladder should be aware of the potential for these anomalies.

Introduction: Microbiology of effusion fluids in children in Burkina Faso is characterized by the scarcity of data. This work aimed to study the bacteriological and antibiotics susceptibility profile of bacteria involved in effusion fluid infections in paediatrics in order to improve the choice of probabilistic antibiotics therapy. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was used in children aged 0 to 15 years from 2017 to 2020 at the Charles De Gaulle Pediatric University Hospital Center (CHUP-CDG) in Ouagadougou. Classical bacteriology methods such as macroscopy, Gram staining, identification galleries and antibiotics susceptibility testing were used. Results: Of 231 samples, 64 bacteria were isolated. The most common bacterial strains of pleural fluid were Staphylococcus aureus (25%) and 40% for Enterobacteriaceae. Of the peritoneal fluid, 77% were Enterobacteriaceae with 57% Escherichia coli;and from joint fluid, 33% were S. aureus and 22% for P. aeruginosa. The overall susceptibility profile showed 29% extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL), 10% methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), and 8% carbapenemases. Conclusion: Bacteriological profile is characterized by ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae and MRSA. The most active antibiotics were macrolides, aminoglycosides, and cefoxitin (methicillin) for Gram-positive cocci, carbapenems, and aminoglycosides for Gram-negative bacilli. Then, the monitoring of antibiotics resistance must be permanent.

One new furanocembranoid diterpene,11-hydroxy-Δ^(12(13))-pukalide(1),along with six known secondary metabolites,11-acetoxy-Δ^(12(13))-pukalide(2),13α-acetoxypukalide(3),pukalide(4),3α-methoxyfuranocembranoid(5),Δ9(15)-africanene(6),and methyl(5′E)-5-(2′,6′-dimethylocta-5′,7′-dienyl)furan-3-carboxylate(7)were isolated from the Okinawan soft coral Sinularia *** chemical structures were elucidated based on spectroscopic analysis(FTIR,NMR,and HRESIMS),and the relative stereochemistry of 1 was determined by NOESY experiments and acetylation,which yielded derivative *** addition,compounds 1 and 7 exhibited toxicity in the brine shrimp lethality test.

The Ujaragssuit Nunat layered(UNL)unit in the Itsaq Gneiss Complex,west Greenland,has been consid-ered to contain one of the oldest chromitites on Earth based on~ca.4.1 Ga Hadean whole rock Pt-Os model ages and ca.3.81 Ga zircon U-Pb age of the surrounding *** study obtained zircon from the chromitite within this unit as well as granitoid sheets that intruded into the UNL ***-situ U-Pb-Hf-O isotope measurements were made on the *** from both the chromitite and the intrusive granitoids show concordant U-Pb ages of ca.2.97-2.95 *** contrast,Hf and 0 isotopic anal-yses indicate that zircons in the chromitites have a different origin from those in the intrusive *** from granitoids yielded Th/U ratios higher than 0.2,initial Hf isotope ratios of 0.2805-0.2807(i.e,initial:Hf value of-11 to-5),andδ^(18)O values of mostly 6.0‰-7.0‰,which are typical for felsic igneous rocks in Archean continental *** least altered zircons from a chromitite exhibited initial Hf isotope ratios of 0.28078-0.28084(i.e.,initial:Hf value of-1.1 to-0.4),close the chondritic value at ca.3.0 Ga and the depleted mantle at ca.3.2 *** zircons also haveδ^(18)O values of 4.2‰6.1‰which correspond to typical mantle *** other chromitite zircons yielded Th/U ratios lower than 0.1,and Hf and 0 isotopic compositions ranging between the least altered zircons and the intrusive granitoid *** results indicate that the zircons in the chromitites crystallized before or during the 2.97-2.95 Ga granitoid intrusion and most of the zircons were altered by subsequent ***,the present results suggest that zircons in the chromitites originally had depleted Hf iso-topic compositions at ca.3.2-3.0 *** can be explained by two different models of the evolution of the UNL *** is that if the UNL unit was formed at>3.81 Ga as previously thought,with the zircons in the chromitites subsequently being precipitated by ca.3.2-2.95 G
