Self-made conventional nickel-yttria-stabilized zirconia composite anodes after reduction and 500 h operation were analyzed by three-dimensional microstructure reconstruction based on focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy *** area,threephases-boundary density and phase volume fraction were measured based on the three-dimensional microstructure reconstruction to quantitatively study the statistical characterization of solid oxide fuel cell nickel-yttria-stabilizedzirconia anode microstructure before and after *** is found that for anode operated with long time,it is necessary to increase the corresponding three-dimensional reconstruction size to suppress the influence of microstructure variation caused by Ni agglomeration in order to obtain more accurate microstructural quantification information.

A deep learning based homogenization framework is proposed to link the microstructures of porous nickel/yttriastabilized zirconia anodes in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)to their effective macroscopic properties.A variety of microstructures are generated by the discrete element method and the meso‑scale kinetic Monte Carlo ***,the finite element method and the homogenization theory are used to calculate the effective elastic modulus(E),Poisson’s ratio(υ),shear modulus(G)and coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)of representative volume *** addition,the triple-phase boundary length density(LTPB)is also *** convolutional neural network(CNN)based deep learning model is trained to find the potential relationship between the microstructures and the five effective macroscopic *** comparison between the ground truth and the predicted values of the new samples proves that the CNN model has an excellent predictive *** indicates that the CNN model could be used as an effective alternative to numerical simulations and homogenization because of its accurate and rapid prediction *** the deep learning-based homogenization framework could potentially accelerate the continuum modeling of SOFCs for microstructure optimization.

Accurate prediction of performance degradation in complex systems such as solid oxide fuel cells is crucial for expediting technological ***,significant challenges still persist due to limited comprehension of degradation mechanisms and difficulties in acquiring in-situ *** this study,we propose an effective approach that integrates long short-term memory(LSTM) neural network and dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(DEIS).This integrated approach enables precise prediction of future evolutions in both current-voltage and EIS features using historical testing data,without prior knowledge of degradation *** short-term predictions spanning hundreds of hours,our approach achieves a prediction accuracy exceeding 0.99,showcasing promising prospects for diagnostic ***,for long-term predictions spanning thousands of hours,we quantitatively determine the significance of each degradation mechanism,which is crucial for enhancing cell ***,our proposed approach demonstrates satisfactory predictive ability in both time and frequency domains,offering the potential to reduce EIS testing time by more than half.

Geochemical behavior of rare-earth elements and other major and minor elements in sound-producing and silent beach sands in Japan

The major element composition of sound-producing sand is reported together with rare-earth elements (REE) and other selected elements for the first time. Rare-earth element concentrations in beach sands from Miyagi and Tottori in Japan were determined by induction-coupled, argon-plasma spectrometry (ICP-MS) to characterize the REE of sound-producing and silent sands relative to the parental rocks. Sound-producing sand beaches are very common and all over in Japan: five beaches in Miyagi and 2 in Tottori are selected with other silent sand beaches in the areas. Both sound-producing sand and silent sand samples from Miyagi and Tottori contain more than 60wt% of SiO2 and are composed mainly of quartz and feldspar. Miyagi sand samples are characterized by light REE enrichment and flat chondrite-normalized patterns that are similar to those of local source sandstone. However, all sand samples from Miyatojima in Miyagi show positive Eu anomalies, a characteristic feature not shown in other sand samples from Miyagi. Tottori sand samples also are characterized by high REE contents and remarkable positive Eu anomalies. The sands containing lower REE contents are due to high quartz and feldspar contents. Miyatojima sand samples and Tottori sand samples have high REE contents and show remarkable positive Eu anomalies due to the presence of feldspar. The best results are obtained using all of the geological methods and the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) as a measure of the similarity between sound-producing sand and silent sand. The difference between sound-producing sand and silent sand is obtained from the PCA results.

The rare earth manganite BaLn2Mn2O7(Ln = rare earth element) has a Sr3Ti2O7-type layered perovskite structure with double-block oxygen octahedra belonging to the Ruddlesden-Popper-type homologous series AO(ABO3)2. In Pr-manganite, a novel phase transition was first observed in situ at 1040 K by a thermal transmission electron microscope. At 1040 K, reflections began to split along the c-direction in the selected area diffraction pattern. This indicates that a new phase appears in the original phase matrix; the c length of the new phase is 1.5% longer than that of the original phase. After about 5 min, the original phase disappears. No change in the crystal symmetry (space group 14/mmm) is observed above 1040 K.

Visual cryptography(VC) is an encryption technique for hiding a secret image in distributed and shared images(referred to as shares). VC schemes are employed to encrypt multiple images as meaningless,noisy patterns or meaningful images. However,decrypting multiple secret images using a unique share is difficult with traditional VC. We propose an approach to hide multiple images in meaningful shares. We can decrypt multiple images simultaneously using a common share, which we refer to as a magic sheet. The magic sheet decrypts multiple secret images depending on a given share. The shares are printed on transparencies, and decryption is performed by physically superimposing the transparencies. We evaluate the proposed method using binary, grayscale,and color images.

In this issue of World Journal of Gastroenterology,Huang et al reported that Calculus bovis(CB),a traditional Chinese herbal medicine,impedes the growth of liver cancers in *** further in vitro studies,they showed that CB suppressed the M2 polarization of tumor-associated macrophages by suppressing the Wnt signaling pathway,which consequently inhibited the growth of liver *** the effects of traditional Chinese herbal medicine are often not scientifically proven,Huang et al successfully identified the molecular mechanism involved in the anticancer effect of CB,and it is anticipated that the molecular mechanisms involved in the effects of other traditional Chinese herbal medicines will be scientifically elucidated,as demonstrated in this article.

Eu 2Mn 2/3Ta 4/3O 7 specimen was synthesized from Eu 2O 3, MnO and Ta 2O 5 in a reducing atmosphere. Structure analysis was carried out by Rietveld method from X-ray diffraction data. The X-ray diffraction profile calculated with monoclinic C2/c model was in a good agreement with the observed X-ray diffraction patterns since several small peaks of super lattice could be also assigned with C2/c symmetry in addition to fundamental reflection peaks. Eu 2Mn 2/3Ta 4/3O 7 has two kinds of distorted (Mn, Ta)O 6 octahedra and HTB layers, which deviates from the regular forms. Europium atoms coordinate to eight or seven oxygen atoms and lead to two kinds of polyhedra, EuO 8 and EuO 7 in this compound.
