Effect of Sulfur Fertilization on Productivity and Grain Zinc Yield of Rice Grown under Low and Adequate Soil Zinc Applications

This study aimed to investigate the responses in rice(Oryza sativa *** 97)production and grain zinc(Zn)accumulation to combined Zn and sulfur(S)*** experiment was designed as a factorial experiment with two Zn and three S concentrations applied to the soil in a completely randomized design with four *** plants were grown under greenhouse conditions at low(0.25 mg/kg)and adequate(5 mg/kg)Zn rates combined with S(CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O)application(low,2.5 mg/kg;moderate,10 mg/kg,and adequate,50 mg/kg).The lowest rate of S at adequate soil Zn treatment increased grain yield by 68%compared with the same S rate at low Zn *** with the adequate S rate at low Zn and adequate Zn supply produced the highest grain yield,with increases of 247%and 143%compared with low S rate at low Zn and adequate Zn supply,*** concentration of grain Zn and S responded differently to the applied S rates depending on the soil Zn *** highest grain Zn concentration,reaching 41.5 mg/kg,was observed when adequate Zn was supplied at the low S ***,the adequate S rate at the low soil Zn conditions yielded the highest grain S *** total grain Zn uptake per plant showed particular increases in grain Zn yield when adequate S rates were applied,showing increases of 208%and 111%compared with low S rate under low and adequate soil Zn conditions,*** results indicated that the synergistic application of soil Zn and S improves grain production and grain Zn *** results highlight the importance of total grain Zn yield in addition to grain Zn concentration,especially under the growth conditions where grain yield shows particular increases as grain Zn is diluted due to increased grain yield by increasing S fertilization.

Yield and Grain Quality Response of Spring Wheat Varieties to Irrigation and Fertility Management

Experiments were conducted in 2020 and 2021 in North Dakota to determine the effects of foliar and soil applied fertilizers, variety and irrigation on yield and grain quality of spring wheat. Foliar application of N did not consistently increase yield and protein indicating the soil N levels were adequate to optimize yield. The variety Bolles had higher protein content than Faller. Zinc (Zn) content in the grain was greatest when applied at either flowering or post anthesis. It was also found to be correlated with grain protein content. Yield and grain protein content were negatively related. There was no consistent effect of phosphorous or Zn when applied to the soil on yield, protein, gluten, or Zn content in the grain. Zinc concentration in the grain was significantly correlated with the protein, gluten and P content of the grain. The timing of Zn application was critical to the success of translocating Zn to the grain. Grain Zn concentration increased with most late season foliar Zn applications to both varieties indicating potential for enriching spring wheat nutrient content through production management practices already common in areas that grow spring wheat.

Fractal image analysis and bruise damage evaluation of impact damage in guava

Impact bruise damage and quality of‘Gim Ju’guava were investigated for different drop heights and number of drops using fractal image *** the impact test,a stainless-steel metal ball(250 g)was dropped on fruit from three drop heights(0,0.3,0.6 m)either once or five *** quality was evaluated for impact energy,bruise area(BA),bruise volume(BV),bruise susceptibility,bruise score and pulp color(L*,a*,b*and C values).The fractal dimension(FD)value using fractal image analysis was analyzed at the bruise *** showed that five drops(0.3 m)with a high impact energy(3678.75 J)and a single drop(0.6 m)with a low impact energy(1471.50 J)exhibited no significant in BA,BV,bruise score as well as all color values(L*,a*,b*and C).While the FD value of a single drop from 0.6 m had a higher FD value than that of five drops from 0.3 *** is indicated that FD exhibited a better performance to classify impact bruising level of guava than BA,BV and color *** FD value gradually decreased with increase of storage time and bruise *** correlation coefficient(r)values of FD(r=−0.794 and−0.745)between BA and BV were more significant than those L*(r=−0.660 and−0.615)and a*(r=0.579 and 0.473).The coefficient of determination(R^(2))of the polynomial equation in bruised fruit(R^(2)=0.85 to 0.99)was greater than the control(no bruise)(R^(2)=0.80).A higher R^(2)val(0.88 and 0.92)was exhibited at five ***,FD analysis showed greater potential than color measurement to assess bruise impact damage in guava.

Effects of human contraceptive on reproduction and offspring in Chrysomya megacephala

Objective:To investigate the effect of human contraceptive(HC) as ability to suppress the reproductive success of blow fly,Chrysomya megacephala(Fabricius)(***) and offspring under controlled laboratory ***:Adult *** were fed with low(0.036 mg/mL) and high dose(0.072 mg/mL) HC(Microgest~?,Thailand),containing levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol,in their drinking water for 7 *** experiments were set;experimentⅠwith fed only in parental males,experimentⅡwith fed only in parental females and experimentⅢwith fed in both males and *** experiments were then maintained for 3 generations after crossing and ***:A lower ovariole production and less fully mature ovarioles were evident in F1,F2 and F3 than control when parent males,females and both had been fed with high dose *** changes during spermatogenesis in F1,F2 and F3 testes was confirmed using transmission electron microscopy(TEM),showing the low level of condensed chromatin,necrotic chromatin,irregularities and degenerated nuclear envelope in the nucleus. In the cytoplasm,mitochondrial swelling,rough endoplasmic reticulum swelling as well as vacuolated cytoplasm were *** for the sperm per se,we found the degenerated nuclei and/ or incomplete mitochondrial derivative,axoneme and vacuolated *** deformity in F1,F2 and F3 ovariole,ultrastructural alteration observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) included malformations involving fragile enveloping peritoneal sheath,cracked ovarioles, peel away chorion,crumbled eggshell and incomplete development;whereas TEM presented malformed and disorganized mass of cells,proteic yolk granules and vacuolated vesicles. Conclusions:Administer of HC to adult *** caused ovariole reduction,less matured ovariole and affected cellular changes in testes and ovariole of offspring up to F3.
