We report observations in a 7 year old girl with manifest right accessory pathway (AP) and depressed cardiac function. Her Echocardiogram showed LV dilatation with asynchronous ventricular wall motion and LVEF reduction. The electrophysiological study demonstrated a para-his AP. She underwent successfully ablation and without any complications. The Echo validated that asynchronous ventricular wall motion disappeared after ablation. Her cardiac size and function was normal after follow up of three month. Our findings suggested that manifest AP leading to asynchronous ventricular motion was a possible cause of left ventricular dilation and dysfunction. Catheter ablation could reverse cardiac remodeling in such patient. Case report A seven year old girl was referred to our hospital for fainting episode in last six month. To exclude cephalic syncope, she underwent electroencephalogram, the result was negative. The electrocardiogram (ECG) showed right AP. An apparent delta wave looked like LBBB pattern with short PR interval (80ms) and long QRS duration (180ms) (figure 1 left panel). Echocardiogram (Echo) revealed left ventricle dilatation and left ventricular ejection fraction reduction (LVDd=52mm, LVEF=46%). Asynchronous ventriclular wall motion and moderate mitral valve regurgitation also observed on Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI). She underwent electrophysiology study (EPS) and ablation procedure on the 5th hospital day. The intracardiac electrogram showed a para-His AP with antegrade conduction. The orthodromic SVT (201 bpm) was induce right ventricular apex programmed stimulation. During SVT episode, her symptom was similar to spontaneous one. After successful ablation, delta wave on ECG disappeared and SVT can not be induced with or without isoproterenol. Normal atrial-ventricular conduction was kept without any complications. AIM: To kill CEA positive colorectal carcinoma cells specifically using the E coli cytosine deaminase (CD) suicide gene, a new replication-deficient recombinant adenoviral vector was constructed in which CD gene was controlled under CEA promoter and its in vitro cytotoxic effects were evaluated. METHODS: Shuttle plasmid containing CD gene and regulatory sequence of the CEA gene was constructed and recombined with the right arm of adenovirus genome DNA in 293 cell strain. Dot blotting and PCR were used to identify positive plaques. The purification of adenovirus was performed with ultra-concentration in CsCl step gradients and the titration was measured with plaque formation assay. Cytotoxic effects were assayed with MTT method, The fifty percent inhibition concentration (IC(50)) of 5-FC was calculated using a curve-fitting parameter. The human colorectal carcinoma cell line, which was CEA-producing, and the CEA-nonproducing Hela cell line were applied in cytological tests. An established recombinant adenovirus vector AdCMVCD, in which the CD gene was controlled under CMV promoter, was used as virus control. Quantitative results were expressed as the mean +/- SD of the mean. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA test. RESULTS: The desired recombinant adenovirus vector was named AdCEACD. The results of dot blotting and PCR showed that the recombinant adenovirus contained CEA promoter and CD gene. Virus titer was about 5.0 X 10(14)pfu/L(-1) after purification. The CEA-producing Lovo cells were sensitive to 5-FC and had the same cytotoxic effect after infection with AdCEACD and AdCMVCD (The IC(50) values of 5-FC in parent Lovo cells, Lovo cells infected with 100 M.O.I AdCEACD and Lovo cells infected with 10 M.O.I AdCMVCD were >15000, 216.5+/-38.1 and 128.8+/-25.4 micromol.L(-1), P<0.001, respectively), and the cytotoxicity of 5-FC increased accordingly when the m.o.i of adenoviruses were enhanced (The value of IC(50) of 5-FC was reduced to 27.9+/-4.2 micr

Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by low bone mineral density （BMD） and micro-architectural changes in the bone *** risk of osteoporosis is partly determined by genetic *** role of C677T polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase （MTHFR） gene has been investigated in postmenopausal ***,the relationship between MTHFR polymorphism and BMD is still *** carried out a meta-analysis of 5,833 subjects to evaluate the association of MTHFR and BMD in postmenopausal *** of MEDLINE,Web of Science,Scopus and CNKI were retrieved for all publications relating to MTHFR polymorphism and BMD in postmenopausal *** eligible studies were selected for *** these articles studied the association of MTHFR polymorphism and BMD of the femoral neck and lumbar spine in postmenopausal *** analysis suggested that postmenopausal women with the TT genotype had lower femoral neck BMD than the women with the CC/CT genotype,and the weighted mean difference （WMD） was-0.01 g/cm 2 [95% confidence interval （CI）：（-0.01,-0.01）,P 0.01].However,BMD of the lumbar spine of postmenopausal women with the TT genotype was not significantly different from that of women with the CC/CT *** the random effects model,the WMD between the TT and TC/CC genotype was-0.01 g/cm 2 [95% CI：（-0.04,0.01）,P=0.32].The C677T polymorphism of the MTHFR gene is associated with BMD of the femoral neck in postmenopausal *** with the TT genotype of the MTHFR gene have lower BMD,suggesting that the TT genotype may be a risk factor for postmenopausal osteoporosis.

To solve problems concerning wave elements and wave propagation, an effective way is the wave energy balance equation, which is widely applied in oceanography and ocean dynamics for its simple computation. The present papaer advances wave energy balance equations considering lateral energy transmission and energy loss as the governing equation for the study of wave refraction-diffraction. For the mathematical model, numerical simulation is made by means of difference method, and the result is verified with two examples.

Background Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), which be long to the transforming growth factor beta superfamily, are powerful regulators of cartilage and bone formation. This study investigated the biological change s of NIH3T3 cells incubated with secretive BMP2 that was induced by gene transfe ction through transwell. Methods Eukaryonic expression vector (pcDNA3.1-B2) was transf ered into NIH3T3 cells with Sofast TM,a positive compound transfection age nt. The positive cell clones were selected with G418. The cytoplasmic and extr acellular expressions of BMP2 were determined by immunohistochemical stain and e nzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. NIH3T3 cells were co-cultured with h BMP2 gene transfecting cells through transwell, and the ultrastruct ure, alkaline phosphatase activity and the expression of osteocalcin (the marker of osteogenetic differentiation) changes were observed. Results There were cytoplasmic and extracellular expressions of BMP2 in transfecting NIH3T3 cells. The ultrastructural changes, the high activ ity of alkaline phosphatase and the positive stain of osteocalcin suggested the osteogenetic differentiation tendency of NIH3T3 cells co-cultured with transfec ting NIH3T3 cells. Conclusion Secretive BMP2 that is induced by gene transfection could promote the osteogenetic differentiation of fibroblast cells.

Th1-type cytokines produced by the stimulation of Th1-type epitopes derived from definedschistosome-associated antigens are correlated with the development of resistance to the parasite *** mansoni 28 kDa glutathione-S-transferase(Sm28GST),a major detoxification enzyme,hasbeen recognized as a vaccine candidate and a phase Ⅱ clinical trial has been carried *** immunizedwith recombinant Schistosoma japonicum 28GST(Sj28GST)have shown immune protection against theparasite *** the present study,six candidate peptides(P1,P2,P3,P4,P7 and P8)from Sj28GSTwere predicted,using software,to be T cell epitopes,and peptides P5 and P6 were designed by extendingfive amino acids at the N-terminal and C-terminal of P1,*** peptide 190-211 aa in Sj28GSTcorresponding to the Th1-type epitope(190-211 aa)identified from Sm28GST was selected and named *** nine candidate peptides were synthesized or produced as the fusion protein with thioredoxin in thepET32c(+)/BL21(DE3)*** capacity to induce a Th1-type response in vitro was measured usinglymphocyte proliferation,cytokine detection experiments and flow *** results showed that P6(73-86 aa)generated the strongest stimulation effect on T cells among the nine candidate peptides,and drovethe highest level of IFN-γ and ***,P6 is a functional Th1-type T cell epitope that is differentfrom that in Sm28GST,and will be useful for the development of effective vaccines which can triggeracquired immunity against ***,our strategy of identifying the Th1-type epitope by acombination of software prediction and experimental confirmation provides a convenient and cost-savingalternative approach to previous methods.
