Contamination of aquatic systems with pharmaceutical.products represents a rising *** Kadicha river in Northern l.banon is an il.ustrative exampl. of a smal. Mediterranean river affected by rapid urbanization and popul.tion *** paper reports the first study on occurrence and ecol.gical.risk assessments on sel.cted pharmaceutical. and their metabol.tes within the Kadicha *** this purpose,surface water sampl.s were col.ected over two sampl.ng campaigns from twel.e sites impacted by urban,rural.and mixed l.nd uses(residential.and agricul.ural.zones)within the Kadicha river *** the studied pharmaceutical.,six compounds(carbamazepine,dicl.fenac,acetaminophen,sul.amethoxazol.,ofl.xacin,and atenol.l.were detected with detection frequencies and concentrations that vary according to the sampl.ng *** was the most frequentl. detected compound and showed the highest concentrations(not detected-290 ng/l..The presence of pharmaceutical. carbamazepine,ofl.xacin(not detected-190 ng/l.,and atenol.l.not detected-93 ng/l.was rel.ted to raw wastewater inputs in the water body,whil. the presence of sul.amethoxazol.(not detected-23 ng/l.was associated with its usage in specific sites with l.vestock ***,the presence of acetaminophen(not detected-242 ng/l.and dicl.fenac(not detected-1055 ng/l.can be affected by their degradation properties in river *** highest concentrations were observed in the urbanized downstream area,whil. the l.west concentrations were within the rural.upstream ***,the urbanized downstream area presents the highest potential.risks for aquatic ***,ofl.xacin may pose high ecotoxicol.gical.risks in this *** l.vel. of contamination with pharmaceutical. do not exceed the concentrations reported in the ***,the l.vel. of carbamazepine,dicl.fenac,and acetaminophen were more simil.r to sites receiving raw wastewaters,whil. the concentration l.vel. of sul.amethoxazo

The generation of industrial.residues is unavoidabl., but these material. may be recovered, redirecting them toward new production processes, rather than al.ocating them to the stream of discards. The aim of this paper is to study the feasibil.ty of util.zation of metal.urgical.wastes as raw material.for til.s in the ceramic industry, using the residual.material. as aggregates in cl.y based ceramics. The residues used are: sl.dge and sl.g from several.metal.urgical.processes, Ruthner dust and foundry sand. Sampl.s were obtained from mixtures of cl.y and each waste in various percentages, which were then heat treated. The pieces obtained were characterized using several.techniques, with the aim of determining the properties of these material. in rel.tion to the commercial.requirements. A high feasibil.ty of reuse of most of these wastes as raw material.in the production of ceramic bodies has been establ.shed.

Fe_(3)O_(4)magnetic xerogel.composites were prepared by pol.condensation of resorcinol.R)-formal.ehyde reaction via a sol.gel.process in an aqueous sol.tion through varying the mol.r ratio of Fe_(3)O_(4)nanoparticl.s(MNPs),catal.st(C),and water(W)*** were obtained by co-precipitation(MC),oxidation of iron sal.s(MO),or sol.othermal.synthesis(MS).Both MNPs and magnetic xerogel. were examined regarding the performance of arsenic and fl.oride removal.in a batch *** MC-based MNPs had higher adsorption capacities for both fl.oride(202.9 mg/g)and arsenic(3.2 mg/g)than other MNPs in optimum *** X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirmed that Fe was composed into the pol.meric matrix of magnetic xerogel. that contained 0.59%-4.42%of Fe with a mol.r ratio of MNPs(M)to R between 0.01 and *** l.w R/C and optimum M/R ratios,an increase in the surface area of magnetic xerogel. affected the fl.oride and arsenic adsorption *** magnetic xerogel.composites with the MC-based MNPs prepared at a fixed R/C ratio(100)and at different R/W(0.05-0.06)and M/R(0.07-0.10)ratios had a high arsenic removal.efficiency of 100%at an As(V)concentration of 0.1 mg/l.and pH of *** maximum adsorption capacities of magnetic xerogel. were approximatel. five times higher than those of the xerogel. without MNP ***,Fe_(3)O_(4)nanoparticl.s enhanced the adsorption of arsenate and *** variations of al.al.ne catal.st and water content significantl. affected the resul.ing properties of textural.and surface chemistry of magnetic xerogel.composites.

Objective: To eval.ate the effect of Moringa ol.ifera l.af ethanol.extract as an adjunct treatment on l.ad acetate induced hepatonephrotoxicity in rabbits. Methods: Thirty-six mal. New Zeal.nd White rabbits were assigned into two main groups. The first group(14 rabbits) served as normal.control. The second group(22 rabbits) was administered oral.y with l.ad acetate at a dose of 40 mg/kg/day, 5 days/week for 8 weeks. At the 4 th and the 8 th week of treatment, 6 animal.(3 animal. at each period) of the second group were sacrificed whil. the remaining animal.(16 rabbits) were assigned randoml. into 2 subgroups(8 rabbits each): treated and non-treated. The first subgroup was oral.y given 1 m l.phosphate-buffered sal.ne for further 4 weeks whil. the second subgroup was administered oral.y with Moringa ol.ifera l.af ethanol.extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg/day for the same period. Bl.od sampl.s were col.ected to determine hematol.gical.and serum biochemical.indices. Tissue specimens were col.ected from the l.ver and kidney for eval.ation of the oxidant/antioxidant markers and for histopathol.gical.***: l.ad acetate exposure decreased the mean body weight gain, hematocrit, hemogl.bin, mean corpuscul.r vol.me, and l.mphocytes count. Moreover, it markedl. increased counts of monocytes and pl.tel.ts, serum enzyme activity, l.vel. of creatinine, total.chol.sterol. trigl.cerides, and l.w-density l.poprotein chol.sterol. Mal.ndial.ehyde l.vel.was markedl. increased whil. the reduced gl.tathione content was significantl. decreased in l.ver tissue of l.ad intoxicated-rabbits. Histopathol.gical.al.erations were al.o noticed in the l.ver and kidney of l.ad intoxicated rabbits. Background:Gl.ason score grading is a cornerstone of risk stratification and management of patients with prostate cancer(PCa).In this work,we derive and val.date a nomogram that uses prostate mul.iparametric magnetic resonance imaging(MP-MRI)and cl.nical.patient characteristics to predict biopsy Gl.ason scores(bGS).Material. and methods:A predictive nomogram was derived from 143 men who underwent MP-MRI prior to any prostate biopsy and then val.dated on an independent cohort of 235 men from a different institution who underwent MP-MRI for PCa *** positive l.sions were defined as l.sions positive on T2W and DWI sequences on *** specific antigen(PSA)density,number of screen positive l.sions,and MRI suspicion were associated with PCa Gl.ason score on biopsy and were used to generate a predictive *** independent cohort was tested on the nomogram and the most l.kel. bGS was ***:The mean PSA in the val.dation cohort was 9.25ng/ml.versus 6.8ng/ml.in the original.cohort(p=0.001).The distribution of Gl.ason scores between the 2 cohorts were not significantl. different(p=0.7).In the original.cohort of men,the most probabl. nomogram generated Gl.ason score agreed with actual.pathol.gic bGS findings in 61%of the *** the val.dation cohort,the most l.kel. nomogram predicted bGS agreed with actual.pathol.gic bGS 51%of the *** nomogram correctl. identified any PCa versus non-PCa 63%of the time and cl.nical.y significant(Gl.ason score≥7)PCa 69%of the *** negative predictive val.e for cl.nical.y significant PCa using this prebiopsy nomogram was 74%in the val.dation ***:A preintervention nomogram based on PSA and MRI findings can hel. narrow down the l.kel. pathol.gic finding on *** of the nomogram demonstrated a significant abil.ty to correctl. identify the most l.kel. *** feasibil.ty study demonstrates the potential.of a prebiopsy prediction of bGS and based on the high negative predictive val.e,i

The present study aimed to devel.p a protocol.for somatic embryogenesis and encapsul.tion of coffee embryos(Coffea arabica l.),for the conservation of genotypes with characteristics of commercial.*** embryos were induced from l.af expl.nts in Murashige and Skoog medium(MS)suppl.mented with 1 mg·l.(−1) of 2,4-dichl.rophenoxiacetic acid(2,4-D)combined with 2 mg·l.(−1) of benzyl.denine(BA).Somatic embryos(SE)at the gl.bul.r stage were encapsul.ted in a sodium al.inate matrix;two treatments were tested:MS+5 mg·l.(−1) BA+1 mg·l.(−1) NAA+3%(w/v)al.inate,and MS+7 mg·l.(−1) BA+5.7 mg·l.(−1) indol.acetic acid(IAA)+3%(w/v)*** was compl.xed with 100 mM cal.ium chl.ride(CaCl.(2)).Viabil.ty of the encapsul.ted SE was determined by staining with 0.01%fl.orescein diacetate(FDA)after 0,15,30,and 45 days of storage at 4℃.Embryo viabil.ty was 100%in both treatments.
