Improving the electrocatalytic activity of Fe,N co-doped biochar for polysulfide by regulation of N-C and Fe-N-C electronic configurations

The conversion of agricultural residual biomass into biochar as a sulfur host material for Li-S batteries is a promising approach to alleviate the greenhouse effect and realize waste resource ***,the large-scale application of pristine biochar is hindered by its low electrical conductivity and limited electrocatalytic *** paper addressed these challenges via the construction of Fe-N co-doped biochar(Fe-NOPC)through the copyrolysis of sesame seeds shell and ferric sodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(NaFeEDTA).During the synthesis process,NaFeEDTA was used as an extra carbon resource to regulate the chemical environment of N doping,which resulted in the production of high contents of graphitic,pyridinic,and pyrrolic N and Fe-Nx *** the resulting Fe-NOPC was used as a sulfur host,the pyridinic and pyrrolic N would adjust the surface electron structure of biochar to accelerate the electron/ion transport,and the electropositive graphitic N could be combined with sulfur-related species via electrostatic ***-Nx could also promote the redox reaction of lithium polysulfides due to the strong Li-N and S-Fe *** from these advantages,the resultant Fe-NOPC/S cathode with a sulfur loading of 3.8 mg·cm^(-2)delivered an areal capacity of 4.45 mAh·cm^(-2)at 0.1C and retained a capacity of 3.45 mAh·cm^(-2)at ***,this cathode material holds enormous potential for achieving energy-dense Li-S batteries.

Microcystins （MCs） produced by cyanobacteria are strong hepatotoxins and classified as possible carcinogens. MCs pose a considerable threat to human health through tainted drinking and surface waters. Herein filtrated water from a waterworks in Harbin, China, was spiked with microcysfin-LR （MC-LR） extracted from a toxic scum of microcystis aeruginosa, and the spiked sample waters were treated using UV irradiation with consequent ozonation process （UV/O3）, compared with ozonation at a dose range commonly applied in water treatment plants, UV irradiation at 254 nm and UV irradiation combined with ozonation （UV＋O3）, respectively. The remaining of toxins were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography and also determined using a protein phosphatase type 2A inhibition assay, which was utilized to evaluate the reduction in toxicity. Results indicated that in comparison to other three processes （O3, UV, and UV＋O3）, UV/O3 process could effectively decrease both the concentration and toxicity of MC-LR at 100 μg/L level after 5 min UV irradiation with consequent 5 min ozonation at 0.2 mg/L （below 1 μg/L ）, while 0.5 mg/L ozone dose was required for the level below 0.1 μg/L. The addition of an UV treatment step to the existing treatment train may induce significant transformation of micropollutants and breaks down the natural organic matters into moieties unfavorable for ozone decomposition, stabilizing the ozone residual. These findings suggested that sequential use of UV and ozone may be a suitable method for the removal of these potentially hazardous microcystins from drinking water.

To analyze the overlying strata movement law of recovering room mining standing pillars with solid *** simulation experiments with sponge and wood as the backfilling simulation material were *** results show that:(i) The covering-rock mechanics of the overly strata comes from "two-arch structures + hinged girder + bend beam" to "backfilling material + hinged girder + bent beam" by increasing the fill ratio from 0%to 85%,the beginning of overlying strata movement appears later and the total duration of subsidence velocity increased from zero to the highest value *** trend of "single polarization" of the subsidence velocity curves becomes noticeable and the velocity variation trend becomes stable,(ii) The equiponderate aeolian sand was added to improve the anti-pressure ability of the loess,and the corresponding ground processing & transportation system was designed.

Disrupted tenogenesis in masseter as a potential cause of micrognathia

Micrognathia is a severe craniofacial deformity affecting appearance and survival. Previous studies revealed that multiple factors involved in the osteogenesis of mandibular bone have contributed to micrognathia, but concerned little on factors other than osteogenesis. In the current study, we found that ectopic activation of Fgf8 by Osr2-cre in the presumptive mesenchyme for masseter tendon in mice led to micrognathia, masseter regression, and the disrupted patterning and differentiation of masseter tendon. Since Myf5-cre;Rosa26R-Fgf8 mice exhibited the normal masseter and mandibular bone, the possibility that the micrognathia and masseter regression resulted directly from the over-expressed Fgf8 was excluded. Further investigation disclosed that a series of chondrogenic markers were ectopically activated in the developing Osr2-cre;Rosa26R-Fgf8 masseter tendon, while the mechanical sensing in the masseter and mandibular bone was obviously reduced. Thus, it suggested that the micrognathia in Osr2-cre;Rosa26R-Fgf8 mice resulted secondarily from the reduced mechanical force transmitted to mandibular bone. Consistently,when tenogenic or myogenic components were deleted from the developing mandibles, both the micrognathia and masseter degeneration took place with the decreased mechanical sensing in mandibular bone, which verified that the loss of mechanical force transmitted by masseter tendon could result in micrognathia. Furthermore, it appeared that the micrognathia resulting from the disrupted tenogenesis was attributed to the impaired osteogenic specification, instead of the differentiation in the periosteal progenitors. Our findings disclose a novel mechanism for mandibular morphogenesis, and shed light on the prevention and treatment for micrognathia.

Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical （THM） coupling pro- cesses in unsaturated soils are very important in both theoretical researches and engineering applications. A coupled formulation based on hybrid mixture theory is derived to model the THM coupling behavior of unsaturated soils. The free-energy and dissipative functions for different phases are derived from Taylor＇s series expansions. Constitutive relations for THM coupled behaviors of unsaturated soils, which include deformation, entropy change, fluid flow, heat conduction, and dynamic compatibility conditions on the interfaces, are then established. The number of field equations is shown to be equal to the number of unknown variables; thus, a closure of this coupling problem is established. In addition to modifications of the physical conservation equations with coupling effect terms, the constitutive equations, which consider the coupling between elastoplastic deformation of the soil skeleton, fluid flow, and heat transfer, are also derived.

Fully mechanized coal mining with backflling(FMCMB)has become a major solution of‘‘green mining’’.The mechanical properties of backfll materials are key factors of ground control in FMCMB *** study the strength behaviors of the solid backfll materials,we developed a method of generating random gravel model by using computational geometry algorithms,then coded the generating method into a program with MATLAB software,and implemented several numerical biaxial tests under different confning stresses by using a generated random gravel model and the Particle Flow Code *** deviatoric stress,post-peak softening,initial contraction and dilation and the relations between them and confning stress can be *** the initial elastic modulus of the samples,Poisson’s ratio,frictional angle and cohesion can be derived from the numerical biaxial test *** results indicate a good feasibility study of mechanical properties of the solid backfll materials by random gravel model and particle flow based numerical biaxial test.

The security, efficiency, transmission distance and error rate are important parameters of a quantum key distribution scheme. In this article, the former two parameters are focused on. To reach high efficiency, an unsymmetrical quantum key distribution scheme that employs Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger （GHZ） triplet states and dense coding mechanism is proposed, in which a GHZ triplet state can be used to share two bits of classical information. The proposed scheme can be employed in a noisy or lossy quantum channel. In addition, a general approach to security analysis against general individual attacks is presented.
