Neurogenesis persists in two locations of the adult mammalian brain, the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricles and the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus in the hippocampus. In the adult subgranular zone, radial glial- like cells （RGLs） are multipotent stem cells that can give rise to both astrocytes and neurons. In the process of generating neurons, RGLs divide asymmetrically to give rise to one RGL and one intermediate progenitor cell （IPC）. IPCs are considered to be a population of transit amplifying cells that proliferate and eventually give rise to mature granule neurons. The properties of individual IPCs at the clonai level are not well understood. Furthermore, it is not clear whether IPCs can generate astrocytes or revert back to RGLs, besides generating neurons. Here we developed a genetic marking strategy for clonal analysis and lineage-tracing of individual Tbr2-expressing IPCs in the adult hippocampus in vivo using Tbr2-CreERT2 mice. Using this technique we identified Tbr2-CreERT2 labeled IPCs as unipotent neuronal precursors that do not generate astrocytes or RGLs under homeostasis. Additionally, we showed that these labeled IPCs rapidly generate immature neurons in a synchronous manner and do not undergo a significant amount of amplification under homeostasis, in animals subjected to an enriched environment/running, or in animals with different age. In summary, our study suggests that Tbr2-expressing IPCs in the adult mouse hippocampus are unipotent precursors and rapidly give rise to immature neurons without major amplification.

Enhanced 3D Point Cloud Reconstruction for Light Field microscopy Using U-Net-Based Convolutional Neural Networks

This article describes a novel approach for enhancing the three-dimensional(3D)point cloud reconstruction for light field microscopy(LFm)using U-net architecture-based fully convolutional neural network(CNN).Since the directional view of the LFm is limited,noise and artifacts make it difficult to reconstruct the exact shape of 3D point *** existing methods suffer from these problems due to the self-occlusion of the *** manuscript proposes a deep fusion learning(DL)method that combines a 3D CNN with a U-Net-based model as a feature *** sub-aperture images obtained from the light field microscopy are aligned to form a light field data cube for preprocessing.A multi-stream 3D CNNs and U-net architecture are applied to obtain the depth feature fromthe directional sub-aperture LF data *** the enhancement of the depthmap,dual iteration-based weighted median filtering(WmF)is used to reduce surface noise and enhance the accuracy of the *** a 3D point cloud involves combining two key elements:the enhanced depth map and the central view of the light field *** proposed method is validated using synthesized Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing(HCI)and real-world LFm *** results are compared with different state-of-the-art *** structural similarity index(SSIm)gain for boxes,cotton,pillow,and pens are 0.9760,0.9806,0.9940,and 0.9907,***,the discrete entropy(DE)value for LFm depth maps exhibited better performance than other existing methods.

Predictors for difficult cecal insertion in colonoscopy: The impact of obesity indices

AIm To identify the factors influencing cecal insertion time(CIT) and to evaluate the effect of obesity indices on CIT. mETHODS We retrospectively reviewed the data for participants who received both colonoscopy and abdominal computed tomography(CT) from February 2008 to may 2008 as part of a comprehensive health screening program. Age, gender, obesity indices [body mass index(BmI), waist-to-hip circumference ratio(WHR), waist circumference(WC), visceral adipose tissue(VAT)volume and subcutaneous adipose tissue(SAT) volume on abdominal CT], history of prior abdominal surgery, constipation, experience of the colonoscopist, quality of bowel preparation, diverticulosis and time required to reach the cecum were analyzed. CIT was categorized as longer than 10 min(prolonged CIT) and shorter than or equal to 10 min, and then the factors that required a CIT longer than 10 min were *** A total of 1678 participants were enrolled. The mean age was 50.42 ± 9.931 years and 60.3% were men. The mean BmI, WHR, WC, VAT volume and SAT volume were 23.92 ± 2.964 kg/m2, 0.90 ± 0.076, 86.95 ± 8.030 cm, 905.29 ± 475.220 cm3 and 1707.72 ± 576.550 cm3, respectively. The number of patients who underwent abdominal surgery was 268(16.0%). Colonoscopy was performed by an attending physician alone in 61.9% of cases and with the involvement of a fellow in 38.1% of cases. The median CIT was 7 min(range 2-56 min, IQR 5-10 min), and mean CIT was 8.58 ± 5.291 min. Being female, BmI, VAT volume and involvement of fellow were significantly associated with a prolonged CIT in univariable analysis. In multivariable analysis, being female(OR = 1.29, P = 0.047), lower BmI(m2)(OR = 1.62, P = 0.004) or higher BmI(≥ 25 kg/m2)(OR = 1.80, P me(m3)(OR = 1.50, P = 0.013) and fellow involvement(OR = 1.73, P mI or higher BmI and fellow involvement were predictors for prolon

Iron disulfide(FeS_2)cathode active material was prepared from iron and sulfur at room temperature by high energy mechanical *** FeS_2 composites containing Co or Ni transition metal powders as additives were also prepared by the same *** cells with these FeS_2 cathodes were studied for charge-discharge properties at room temperature using 0.5m LiTFSI in tetra(ethylene glycol)dimethyl ether(TEGDmE)*** voltammetry showed two anodic oxidation peaks at 1.8 and 2.5V and two cathodic reduction peaks at 2.0 and 1.3 V for FeS_2 with metal *** addition of 5wt% Co and 3wt% Ni resulted in an enhancement of the first discharge capacity giving 571 and 844mAh/g respectively at *** cycle performance was also enhanced remarkably by the addition of these electrically conductive transition metals in the active ***_2 with 5wt% Co exhibited a stable cycle performance delivering a reversible capacity of 338mAh/g(37.8% of theoretical capacity)after 20 cycles.

Bird-mimetic Wing System of Flapping-wing micro Air Vehicle with Autonomous Flight Control Capability

A micro air vehicle with a bird-mimetic up-down and twisting wing drive system was developed in this study. The Flap- ping-wing micro Air Vehicle （FmAV）, with a 50 cm wingspan and a double-crank drive system, performed successful flights of up to 23 min. The performance and capabilities of the FmAV were enhanced by adapting a number of unique features, such as a bird-mimetic wing shape with a span-wise camber and an up-down and twisting wing drive mechanism with double-crank linkages, This lift-enhancing design by mimicking the flapping mechanism of a bird＇s wing enabled the 210 g FmAV to fly autonomously in an outdoor field under wind speeds of less than 5 m.s-1. Autonomous flight was enabled by installing a flight control computer with a micro-electro-mechanical gyroscope and accelerometers, along with a micro video camera and an ultralight wireless communication system inside the fuselage. A comprehensive wind tunnel test shows that the FmAV with a high-camber wing and double-crank mechanism generates more lift and less net thrust than the FmAV with a flat wing and single-crank mechanism, which confirms the improved performance of the developed FmAV, as well as the superior slow flying or hovering capabilities of the FmAV with a high-camber wing and double-crank wing drive system.

Treatment and prognosis of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma based on SEER data analysis from 1973 to 2014

Background: Hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a rare tumor of vascular origin with an unknown etiology, a low incidence, and a variable natural course. We evaluated the management and prognosis of HEH from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and changes in treatment modalities of HEH over 30 years. methods: From 1973 to 2014 in the SEER database, we selected patients diagnosed with HEH. We analyzed the clinical characteristics, patterns of management, and clinical outcomes of patients with HEH. Results: We identi ed 79 patients with HEH (median age: 54.0 years;male to female ratio: 1:2.6). The initial extent of disease was local in 22 (27.8%) patients, regional metastasis in 22 (27.8%), distant metas-tasis in 31 (39.2%) and unknown in 4 (5.1%). The median size of primary tumor was 3.85 cm (interquartile range, 2.50 7.93 cm). Among 74 patients with available management data, the most common manage-ment was no treatment (29/74, 39.2%), followed by chemotherapy only (22/74, 29.7%), liver resection-based (13/74, 17.6%), and transplantation-based therapy (6/74, 8.1%). The 5-year cancer-speci c survival rate was 57.8%. Patients who underwent surgical treatment had signi cantly higher survival than those who underwent non-surgical treatment (5-year survival;88% vs. 49%, P=0.019). multivariate analysis revealed that surgical therapy was the only independent prognostic factor for survival (hazard ratio: 0.20, P=0.040). Conclusions: Resection or liver transplantation is worth considering for treatment of patients with HEH.

White phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes using double emissive layer with three dopants for color stability

We fabricate white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes （PHOLEDs） with three dopants and double emissive layer （EmL） to achieve color stability. The white PHOLEDs use FIrpic dopant for blue EmL （B- EmL）, and Ir（ppy）3：Ir（piq）3 dopants for green：red EmL （GR-EmL） with N,N＇-dicarbazolyl-3, 5-benzene （mCP） as host material. Thicknesses of B-EmL and GR-EmL are adjusted to form a narrow recombination zone at two EmL＇s interface and charge trapping happens in EmL according to wide highest occupied molecular orbital and/or lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy band gap of mCP and smaller energy band gap of dopants. The total thickness of both EmLs is fixed at 30 nm in the device structure of ITO （150 nm）/moO3 （2 nm）/N,N＇-diphenyl-N,N＇-bis（1-naphthyl-phenyl）-（1,1″-biphenyl）-4, 4＇-diamine （70 nm）/ meP：Firpic-8.0% （12 nm）/mCP：Ir（ppy）3-3.0%：Ir（piq）3-1.5% （18 nm）/2″,2＇,2＂＇-（1,3,5-benzinetriyl）-tris（1- phenyl-l-H-benzimidazole）（30 nm）/8-hydroxyquinolinolato-lithium （2 nm）/A1 （120 nm）. White PHOLED shows 18.25 cd/A of luminous efficiency and white color coordinates of （0.358 and 0.378） at 5000 cd/m2 and color stability with slight CIExy change of （0.028 and 0.002） as increasing luminance from 1000 to 5000 cd/m^2.
