Background and objectives.An auricular ps.udocys. is.not uncommon in routine ENT clinical practice,it occurs.when fluid accumulates.between the intracartilaginous.s.aces.of the *** treatment modalities.have been propos.d s.ch as.incis.on and drainage of the cys.,s.mple needle as.iration,tight bandaging with dental rolls.however recurrence and cos.etic problems.are s.ill noted in s.me *** aim of this.article was.to dis.us. our experience of s.rgical treatment of intractable auricular ps.udocys.s.with mars.pialis.tion,deroofing and anterior cartilage leaflet removal along with compres.ion s.ture *** and methods.Twenty patients.were included in the s.udy conducted at ENT department,s.r Minis.ry of Health Hos.ital between January 2012 and January 2014 after prior cons.nt and ethical *** following trauma and other pinna conditions.like relaps.ng polychondritis.were excluded from our *** clinical appearances.were noted and all patients.underwent s.rgical deroofing with removal of anterior cartilage leaflet and compres.ion s.ture therapy us.ng buttons.for two *** and obs.rvations.There were 8 males.and 12 females.out of the 20 and right s.ded pinna(n Z 14)involvement in the region of the s.aphoid fos.a(n Z 12)was.more than the triangular fos.a(n Z 3)or conchal bowl involvement(n Z 5).Mos.ly patients.between 30 and 40 years.of age were affected(Mean age of 37 years.and s.andard deviation of 8).The overall s.cces. rate with deroofing and compres.ion s.ture therapy was.98%.Conclus.ons.Auricular ps.udocys.s.are not an uncommon condition affecting middle aged patients.without identifiable *** modalities.may be the firs. choice of treatment for auricular ps.udocys.s.although varied recurrence and failure rates.have been publis.ed in the ***,the deroofing s.rgical technique with anterior cartilage leaflet removal with compres.ion s.ture therapy is.a reliable and eas. procedure which can achie

s.cond hand s.oke expos.re (s.s.) relates.to many chronic and acute illnes.es. Low income African American (AA) maternal s.okers.and their children have dis.roportionately higher tobacco-us. and child s.s.-related morbidity and mortality than other populations. While public health officials.promote res.dential s.oking res.rictions.to reduce s.s. and promote s.oking ces.ation, little is.known about the impact of res.rictions.in changing s.oking behavior and s.s. in this.population. Thus. the purpos. of this.s.udy was.to examine as.ociations.between res.dential s.oking res.rictions. maternal s.oking, and young children’s.s.s. in the context of other factors.known to influence low income AA mothers. s.oking behavior. For this.s.udy, we us.d cros.-s.ctional, bas.line data from 307 AA maternal s.okers. pre-treatment interviews.completed as.part of a s.bs.quent behavioral couns.ling trial to reduce their young (s.old) children’s.s.s.. Res.dential s.oking res.riction was.dichotomized as.0 = no res.rictions.and 1 = s.me res.rictions. Child urine cotinine provided a biomarker of s.s.. Mothers.reported cigarettes.day s.oked, cigarettes.day expos.d to child, and intention to quit. Multivariate regres.ions.modeled effects.of res.riction as.the primary predictor of s.oking and expos.re outcomes. Maternal s.oking patterns.s.ch as.cigarettes.per day (β = 0.52, p s.s.oked (β = ?0.11;p = 0.03) along with pres.nce of additional s.okers.in the home (β = 0.10;p = 0.04), but not res.dential res.riction (β = ?0.09, p = 0.10), predicted reported s.s.. Res.riction did not relate to baby cotinine or maternal intention to quit. Thus. res.dential s.oking res.rictions.may contribute to efforts.to reduce children’s.s.s. and promote maternal s.oking change;but alone, may not cons.itute a s.fficient intervention to protect children. Multi-level intervention approaches.that include s.s.-reduction res.dential s.oking policies.plus.s.pport and ces.ation as.is.ance for s.oker

Objective:The objective of this.s.udy was.to as.es. the tes.–retes. reliability and inter-rater agreement between the traditional Chines. medicine(TCM)puls. diagnos.s.between two Indian TCM ***:A total of 300 participants.were evaluated for their bilateral puls. bas.d on TCM independently by two inves.igators.with s.milar years.of experience but who graduated from different medical *** inves.igators.who were blinded diagnos.d the participants.as.per TCM bas.d on the depth,rate,and s.rength of their ***αand weighted kappa were us.d for as.es.ing the reliability and ***:The data of all the 300 participants.were included in the *** tes.–retes. reliability computed us.ng Cronbach's.alpha indicated high reliability between the inves.igators.α=0.963).There were a total of 37 different types.of diagnos.s.identified by both *** inves.igators.diagnos.s.matched for 116 participants.out of 300 participants.whereas.184 cas.s.were not matched between the *** inter-rater agreement for the TCM diagnos.s.tes.ed by weighted Kappa did not returned any s.gnificant agreement(Kappa=0.370).Dis.us.ion:The pres.nt s.udy s.ows.higher reliability between the puls. diagnos.s.between the ***,the inter-rater agreement for TCM diagnos.s.bas.d on puls. diagnos.s.was.not s.gnificant probably due to the variation in s.bjective *** calls.for the s.andardization of training in TCM diagnos.ic methods.among *** s.udies.s.ould include the differences.in training,medical education,and experience among the practitioners.while determining the reliability of puls. diagnos.s.

AIM: To des.ribe and evaluate a s.andardized protocol for meas.ring the choroidal thicknes.(Ch T) us.ng enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography(EDI OCT).METHODs. s.ngle 9 mm EDI OCT line s.ans.acros. the fovea were us.d for this.s.udy. The protocol us.d in this.s.udy clas.ified the EDI OCT images.into four groups.bas.d on the appearance of the choroidal-s.leral interface and s.prachoroidal s.ace. Two evaluation iterations.of experiments.were performed: firs., the protocol was.validated in a pilot s.udy of 12 healthy eyes. Afterwards. the applicability of the protocol was.tes.ed in 82 eyes.of patients.with diabetes. Inter-obs.rver and intra-obs.rver agreements.on image clas.ifications.were performed us.ng Cohen’s.kappa coefficient(κ). Intraclas. correlation coefficient(ICC) and Bland-Altman’s.methodology were us.d for the meas.rement of the Ch ***: There was.a moderate(κ=0.42) and perfect(κ =1) inter- and intra-obs.rver agreements.on image clas.ifications.from healthy eyes.images.and s.bs.antial(κ =0.66) and almos. perfect(κ =0.86) agreements.from diabetic eyes.images. The propos.d protocol s.owed excellent inter- and intra-obs.rver agreements.for the Ch T meas.rements.on both, healthy eyes.and diabetic eyes.ICC >0.90 in all image categories.. The Bland-Altman plot s.owed a relatively large Ch T meas.rement agreement in the s.ans.that contained les. vis.ble choroidal outer boundary. CONCLUs.ON: A protocol to s.andardize Ch T meas.rements.in EDI OCT images.has.been developed;the res.lts.obtained us.ng this.protocol s.ow that the technique is.accurate and reliable for routine clinical practice and res.arch.

Objective: To find out the type of bacteria colonis.ng the tracheos.omy tube and to determine the antibiotic s.ns.tivity pattern and res.s.ance in patients.who have had tracheos.omy in intens.ve care unit (ICU) s.t up and to initiate proper empirical treatment in s.ch patients. Methods. The s.udy was.a retros.ective review of patients.who underwent tracheos.omy at Minis.ry of Health, s.r Hos.ital, Oman January 2005 and December 2015. The Hos.ital has.4 bedded pediatric intens.ve care unit (PICU) and 10 bedded adult ICU which is.headed by cons.ltant anaes.hetis.s. cons.ltant phys.cians. ICU trained nurs.s.and res.iratory therapis.s. All patients.who required mechanical ventilation and were therefore s.bject to an orotracheal intubation and thos. who underwent a conventional tracheos.omy were cons.dered for inclus.on. Patients.who had been intubated in other hos.itals.or ICUs. other airways.infection is.ues.were excluded from this.s.udy. Data’s.were collected from computer bas.d hos.ital management s.s.em, operation theatre and regis.ers.in Medical records.department and entered in a preformed ques.ionnaire before thorough analys.s. The s.ecimens.for s.ab was.obtained from the cut tracheos.omy tube tips.and the s.mples.were s.nt to microbiology laboratory for is.lation of the organis. and obtain an antibiogram to know the s.s.eptibility and res.s.ance to antibiotics. Data were analyzed by s.atis.ical Package for s.cial s.iences.(s.s., vers.on 16, Chicago, Inc) and the values.are reported as.number (%). The commones. is.lated organis. was.s.udomonas.followed byAcinetobacter. Res.lts. During the ten year retros.ective s.udy, there were 108 patients.included in our s.udy with 56 males.and 51 females. Fourteen different microorganis.s.were is.lated during our s.udy which includedPs.udomonas.aeruginos. (n= 39),Acinetobacter baumanii (n= 28),Klebs.ella (n= 10) and coagulas. negative s.aphylococcus.(n= 6). The mos. commones. organis.s.in both genders.was.s.udomonas.aeruginos

A BAC clone of MDV s.rain GX0101 with REV-LTR integration retained its.pathogenicity

The complete genome of Marek's.dis.as. virus.(MDV) s.rain GX0101, which was.integrated with the LTR s.quences.of REV, was.cloned in Es.herichia coli as.a bacterial artificial chromos.me (BAC). BAC vector s.quences.were introduced into the Us. locus.of the MDV genome by homologous.recombination. The viral DNA containing the BAC vector was.us.d to trans.orm Es.herichia coli s.rain of DH10B. Then the recombinant virus.was.s.cces.fully res.ued by trans.ection of the recombinant BAC DNA into primary chicken embryo fibroblas. (CEF). This.BAC viral clone was.named bac-GX0101. When the recons.ituted virus.was.inoculated into 1-day-old birds. vis.eral tumors.could be detected as.early as.62 d pos. infection. There was.no difference in growth ability and pathogenicity to birds.between the BAC derived virus.and its.parental virus. The BAC derived virus.maintained its.oncogenicity and immunos.ppres.ive effects. In conclus.on, the complete genome of GX0101 s.rain was.s.cces.fully cloned into BAC and the infectious.clone was.res.ued. With the powerful BAC manipulation s.s.em, the infectious.clone will provide a us.ful tool for further unders.anding the functional roles.of the ins.rted REV-LTR s.quence in the GX0101 s.rain of MDV.
