Researchers＇ Attitudes towards Varietal Development of Hybrid Rice： A Case Study in Myanmar

The purpose of this study was to identify the existing rice breeding programs in Myanmar and to determine researchers＇ attitudes on hybrid rice research mid its determinmlts. A sample consists of 56 researchers who are working in Department of Agricultural Research, Department of Agriculture and Yezin Agricultural University, and involving varietal development of hybrid rice. The research instruments were a questionnaire used by 4 points Likert scale of strongly agree, agree, less agree and not agree to measure on researchers＇ attitudes towards 14 determinants of varietal development of hybrid rice production. The study revealed that the average age of the researchers was 46.5 years ranged from 25 to 60 years. The majority of researchers were 51-60 years old （41.1%）. The working experience of researchers ranged from 5 to 36 years and the metal of their experience was 20 years. The educational level was Ph.D. （35.7%）, ***. （26.8%）, and ***. （37.5%）. Majority of researchers were female （76.8%） and 58.9% were rice breeders. Moreover, 48.2% of researchers obtained the hybrid rice technology from breeding training and the researchers who believed in their current breeding works were 51.8%. Among 33 rice breeders, 72.7% of the rice breeders applied only convention breeding method. In addition, researchers＇ opinions on farmer＇s perception of hybrid rice technology, 60.7% of the researchers agreed on inferior grain quality and 73.2% of researchers strongly agreed on not stable market. This study found out more thin1 half of the researchers strongly agreed on 10 out of 14 determinmlts such as poor infrastructure, low human resource development, parental problem, insufficient experience, limit germplasm resource, limit research facilities, no incentive for breeders, weak public-private partnership, fewer quality breeders and not enough research fund. Analyzing the Roles of Agricultural Extension Agents in Hybrid Rice Technology Decision-Making Process of Farmers

The study determined the roles of agricultural extension in hybrid rice technology decision-making process by extension agents,Nay Pyi Taw,*** specific objectives were:to study personal characteristics of agricultural extension agents,experiences and their roles,to identify extension agents’opinion on hybrid rice technology decision-making process,and to determine relationship between the roles of agricultural extension agents and decision-making process of hybrid rice *** hundred and eight extension agents were collected who were working in Department of Agriculture,Nay Pyi Taw area and surveyed and interviewed by *** study revealed that majority of agricultural extension agents(65.7%)were female staffs and most of extension agents(40.7%)were under 30 years as young *** of extension agents(81.5%)were educated only *** than half(54.6%)had one to five-year experiences in employment and 58.3%had no hybrid rice training experience and source of information regarding the hybrid rice production was received 63.9%from Department of Agriculture(DOA).Study found that there was highly significant relationship between most of the roles of agricultural extension agents and hybrid rice technology decision-making process of stages 4 and *** then most of the extension agents’roles singnificantly related with stage 2 except role of conducting introduction of hybrid seeds and distribution through by Seed *** which was highly ***,most of the roles of extension agents significantly related with stage *** stages 1 and 6 were no singnificantly *** above all,a well structure seed business,Good Agricultural Practices and farm level mechanization and quality extension service are very important to increase the adoption of hybrid rice in Myanmar.

Relationship between Population Fluctuation of Oriental Fruit Fly Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel and Abiotic Factors in Yezin, Myanmar

Population fluctuation of oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis （Hendel）（Diptera： Tephritidae）, was monitored by using methyl eugenol traps during May, 2011 to December, 2011 and May, 2016 to December, 2016 in mango orchard farms of Department of Agricultural Research in Yezin, Myanmar. In 2011, the highest mean number of male oriental fruit flies/trap/day （241.42 ± 11.79） was recorded in June and the lowest （2.21 ± 0.40） in December. The highest mean number of male oriental frui t flies/trap/day （388.95 ± 8.56） was recorded in the month of June and the lowest （2.33 ± 0.20） in December, 2016. Population data were correlated with meteorological data including temperature, duration of sunshine, and rainfall. Population fluctuation of male fruit flies was positively correlated with temperature and rainfall, and negatively correlated with the duration of sunshine.

Floral senescence or petal abscission that determine cut flower quality and longevity are primarily caused by the regulation of endogenous ethylene and perception of endogenous and exogenous ethylene in floral organs(such as the petals and gynoecium),in ethylene-sensitive *** attempts have been made to prolong flower quality and longevity using silver ions and other chemicals that inhibit ethylene production and perception in floral *** the available compounds,1-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP)has been increasingly used as ethylene-action/perception inhibitor because of its ability to inhibit ethylene action/perception and it is environmentally *** 1-MCP has been used in several cut flower crops for about 25 years,there has been no review yet that critically emphasizes the benefits or difficulties of using this compound for the prolongation of cut flower quality and ***,we outline the role of 1-MCP in inhibiting ethylene action/perception and petal senescence in cut flowers through the blocking of receptor binding sites,and we discuss how various factors affecting efficacy of 1-MCP(such as concentration,treatment time and temperature,genotype,and flower stage)are involved in the achievement of flower ***,we highlight the advantages of applying nonvolatile and liquid 1-MCP formulation types,as opposed to using the conventional 1-MCP treatment(powder formulation type).We expect that this review will provide useful information for the future utilization of 1-MCP for the maintenance of cut flower longevity.

Identification of <i>JAK2</i>(V617F) Mutation in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms by Using Allele Specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (AS-PCR)

Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are a group of clonal haematopoietic stem cell disorders characterized by the proliferation of one or more myeloid cell lineages. According to WHO classification, the Janus associated kinase 2 (JAK2) V617F mutation is one of the major diagnostic criteria in BCR-ABL1 negative myeloproliferative neoplasms. The aim of this study is to detect the JAK2 (V617F) mutation in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms to get accurate diagnosis and proper management. A total of 90 clinically diagnosed MPN patients attending to Department of Clinical Haematology, Yangon General Hospital were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 53.4 ± 14 years which ranged from 16 to 81 years old and male and female ratio was 2.4:1. The identification of JAK2 (V617F) point mutation was found to be positive in 44/90 MPN patients (48.9%). According to MPN subtypes, the JAK2 mutation positivity was found in 19 out of 46 polycythemia vera patients (41.3%), 17 out of 25 essential thrombocythemia patients (68%), 8 out of 15 primary myelofibrosis patients (53.3%), 0 of 4 others myeloproliferative neoplasms (0%). Confirmation of each of nine JAK2 mutation positive and negative samples was done by Sanger sequencing. The arterial or venous thrombotic attack was found in 32/44 JAK2 mutation positive cases (72.7%) and 12/44 JAK2 mutation negative cases (27.3%). The association between thrombotic attack and presence of JAK2 mutation was statistically significance with p = 0.000. The diagnosis of myeloproliferative neoplasms mainly relies on the molecular genetics according to WHO classification. The Allele specific PCR reaction is sensitive, simple test and relatively cost-effective. Therefore, the identification of JAK2 (V617F) somatic point mutation by AS-PCR should be implemented as

Assessment of Farmer’s Practices on the Rubber Nursery Management Using Growing Medium and Varietal Selection in Mon State

Rubber is an economically important perennial crop in Myanmar for latex production. As the rubber plantation area increases yearly, the requirement of vigorous rubber seedlings for its establishment plays a central role. The success of rubber plantations depends on some farming practices such as using different compost or other materials in the potting soil-medium, varietal selection for stock and scion in the budding process, and fertilizer application methods. The objective of this study was to assess the farmer’s practices in the establishment of rubber nurseries in mostly rubber planted areas in Myanmar. The survey interviewed 60 respondents from three townships in Mon State, namely Mudon, Kyaikmaraw, and Thanbyuzayat. The response data were analyzed through the descriptive method. This survey exposed the potentially active operators (middle age of 30 - 60 years) in rubber nursery production. Local experienced farmers usually raised the budded seedlings with 15 cm × 23 cm polyethylene bag in all study regions. Most farmers selected multi-clonal seed for stock and BPM 24 for scion according to the local market demand and high latex yield. All survey areas used both organic and inorganic fertilizers for nutrient management. Compost is a chief component of growing medium in their nursery production. However, making compost and high demand of the compost were local constraints. Therefore, this survey suggested improving the proper composting method for rubber nursery establishment.

运输是采用采用各种方式实现人和物在空间的安全位移。它包括航空运输、公路运输、管道运输、水路运输和铁路运输五种方式。地球表面的四分之三是被海洋所包围,国际贸易量中的90%是靠运价低廉的水路运输来完成。因此,要降低国际贸易运输成本,增加国际贸易运量就必须要提高水路运输,特别是海洋运输的质量和技术,改善海洋运输环境,而其中重中之重的是提高航海教育和培训质量,改善航运人员技术素质。缅甸是一个拥有2,230 km长的海岸线,资源丰富,农业基础扎实的发展中国家。近年来,缅甸的海运业发展迅速,缅甸外派船员数量已在国际海员市场中占有重要地位。缅甸的高等航海教育已被国家列为需要优先发展的项目。缅甸海事大学正是在这样环境下于2002年新建并发展起来的一所高等航海院校。她将承担起为国家培养大量高素质航海人员的重任。船舶货运(海上货物运输)是航海类院校航海技术专业学生的重要专业课程之一,是以《工程力学》、《船舶原理》作为其主要的专业基础课,研究海上运输过程中各类船舶的积载、配载、装货、运输管理、卸载和交付等运输环节的一门应用学科。它包括了大量实现海上货物安全、优质和经济运输的基木概念、基本原理和基本方法,是一个合格的货运船舶驾驶员所必须要掌握的一门学科。当今国际航海教育中已普遍采用了各种模拟器辅助教学,在课堂里采用多媒体教学方式已越来越普及,它是对长期以来采用粉笔加黑板的传统课堂教学方式的一种重大转变,使教师讲课的效率更高,有利于教师将理论与实践相结合。另一方面,学生在单位课时所接受的信息量更多,学生通过多媒体课件教学使其专业视野更为广阔。本论文主要阐述“海上货物运输”多媒体课件(以下简称“课件”)的开发全过程及其对课程教学的初步研究结果。课件的开发是在导师邱文昌教授的指导下完成。课件开发的目的是为未来在缅甸海事大学和上海海事大学的“海上货物运输”课程的教学中使用。课件是在导师原有的“海上货物运输”课件中文版的基础上完成的。课件中已加入了大量针对缅甸航运规则、特点和未来发展需要的教学内容。通过对教育心理学和高等教育学的初步研究,在课件设计中已将这两门学科的部分理论运用于所开发的课件中。缅甸是一个发展中国家,特别在计算机软硬件和现代航海教育方面发展相对滞后,这对于即将成为一名刚建立不久的缅甸海事大学教师的作者而言,掌握教学课件开发技能,初步了解教育心理学和高等教育学的基础原理将是极其重要的。在课件的开发中,作者主要采用了美国Macromedia公司Authoware 7.0作为多媒体课件开发的主平台,辅以Photoshop,Fireworks,Flash和VC++等作为支撑。这类课件虽较Powerpoint开发难度高许多,但具有操作简单,功能强大,特别是具有与许多动画制作软件和DVD影像作品等可以实现无缝嵌入的特点。作为论文的研究成果——已制作完成的课件,包含有5万多文字,600多幅珍贵图片和不少动画,每章后有内容归纳和各类例题。为适应有关专业本科生和不同基础各类学员的课外自学要求,在课件开发中确定的学科基础起点相对较低,内容编排注意由浅入深,表述浅显易懂,课件中较大幅度地去除了一些传统的较深奥但实用价值不大的公式推导等内容。课件中选用了最新版本的国际和缅甸各类公约、规则和规范资料,着重介绍了本学科的一些最新发展技术。为适应目前杂货散件运量减少,各类专用船舶,特别是集装箱船运量迅速增加的航运发展趋势,课件在内容编排方面突出了各类专用船舶的运输。将杂货散件运输压缩篇幅;将危险货物和集装箱运输这两个章节,增加篇幅,充实内容。课件在各类常运货物运输的章节中,增加了货运事故的原因分析等内容。随着科技进步和国际航运的发展,对船舶驾驶员和航运管理人员而言,不仅要具有扎实的理论基础和丰富的专业知识,而且还需要有实践经验和有效业务管理能力。在IMO制定的STCW 78/95公约中,在业务能力和素质方面对高级船员提出了更高的要求。强调船员在技术素质和能力上要求达到适任性。这就要求我们不断地调整课程结构、更新教学内容、改善教学手段.使学生通过本课程的学习,奠定在船舶货运方面扎实的理论基础并掌握实用的船舶货运技术。为此,需要将课程教学作必要的调整以体现提高学生素质和业务能力这一宗旨。在所开发的课件中,在导师的指导下,在内容上已尽可能全面满足国际海事组织(IMO),国际航海讲师协会(International Maritime Lecturers Association),国际专业航海教育家和培训师组织(international professional organization ofmarine educators and trainers)和STCW公约中对国际海员及航运管理人员在船舶货运方面提出的各项要求。最后,作者为了提高学生的学习效率,与课件配套

The system analysis of specific absorption rate(SAR)in human body exposed to a base station antenna by using finite difference time domain techniques was presented in this research *** objectives of this work are to evaluate the knowledge and awareness about SAR among human body and mobile base *** paper investigates the electromagnetic wave absorption inside a human *** human body has been identified using dataset based on 2D object considering different electrical *** SAR convinced inside the human body model exposed to a radiating base station antenna(BSA)has been considered for multiple numbers of carrier frequencies and input power of 20 W/carrier at GSM 900 *** distance(R)of human body from BSA is varied in the range of 0.1 m to 5.0 *** the number of carrier frequency equal to one and R=0.1 m,the concentrated value of whole-body average SAR obtained by FDTD technique is found to be 0.68 W/kg which decreases either with increase of R or decrease of number of carrier *** distance for general public is found to be 1.5 m for number of carrier frequencies equal to *** performance accuracy of this analysis meets the high level condition by comparing with the relevant system development in recent time.
