Application of Intuitionistic Z-Numbers in Supplier Selection

Intuitionistic fuzzy numbers incorporate the membership and non-membership *** contrast,Z-numbers consist of restriction components,with the existence of a reliability component describing the degree of certainty for the *** combination of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and Z-numbers produce a new type of fuzzy numbers,namely intuitionistic Z-numbers(IZN).The strength of IZN is their capability of better handling the uncertainty compared to Zadeh's Z-numbers since both components of Z-numbers are charac-terized by the membership and non-membership functions,exhibiting the degree of the hesitancy of *** paper presents the application of such numbers in fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making problems.A decision-making model is proposed using the trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy power ordered weighted average as the aggregation function and the ranking function to rank the *** proposed model is then implemented in a supplier selection *** obtained ranking is compared to the existing models based on *** results show that the ranking order is slightly different from the existing *** analysis is performed to validate the obtained *** sensitivity analysis result shows that the best supplier is obtained using the proposed model with 80%to 100%consistency despite the drastic change of criteria *** Z-numbers play a very important role in describing the uncertainty in the decision makers’opinions in solving decision-making problems.

Gastric neuroendocrine tumors are gastric neoplasms originating from enterochromaffin type cells and are inserted in a larger group,named gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine *** are considered rare and variable in terms of their clinical,morphological and functional characteristics and may be indolent or *** are classified into types I,II and III,according to their pathophysiology,behavior and *** diagnosis occurs,in most cases,incidentally during upper digestive endoscopies,presenting as simple gastric *** cases(type I and type II)are related to hypergastrinemia,can be multiple and are treated by endoscopic resection,whenever *** use of somatostatin analogs for tumor control may be one of the options for therapy,in addition to total or subtotal gastrectomy for selected *** chemotherapy is only reserved for poorly differentiated neuroendocrine *** rare,gastric neuroendocrine tumors have an increasing incidence over the years,therefore deserving more comprehensive studies on its adequate *** present study reviews and updates management recommendations for gastric neuroendocrine tumors.

In this study,the controlled nucleation and growth of gold nanoparticles(GNPs)were investigated using a self-repelled mist in a liquid chemical reaction *** electrospray-based chemical reduction method was conducted in the aqueous region and at room temperature to synthesize the polymeric-stabilized gold *** electrospray technique was used to atomize a hydrogen tetrachloraurate(III)(HAuCl4)precursor solution into electrostatically charged *** atomized droplets were dispersed in an aqueous reaction bath containing L-ascorbic acid as a reducing agent and polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)as a *** effect of the electrospray parameters,specifically the flow rate and electrospray droplet size,as well as the reaction conditions such as the concentration of reactants,pH,and stabilizer(PVP),were *** mean diameter of the GNPs increased from around 4 to 9 nm with an increase in the electrospray flow rate,droplet size,and current passing through the electrospray *** and monodispersed GNPs were synthesized at a relatively high flow rate of 2 mL/h and a moderate concentration of 2 mM of precursor *** smallest-sized GNP with a high monodispersity was obtained in the reaction bath at a high pH of 10.5 and in the presence of *** is expected that continuous and mass production of the engineered GNPs and other noble metal nanoparticles could be established for scaling up nanoparticle production via the proposed electrospray-based chemical reduction method.

The Rise and Fall of the Hydrophobic Effect in Protein Folding and Protein-Protein Association, and Molecular Recognition

In the beginning everything was explained in Biochemistry in terms of hydrogen-bonds (HB). Then, the devastating blow, known as the HB-inventory argument came;hydrogen bonding with water molecules compete with intramolecular hydrogen-bonds. As a result, the HBs paradigm fell from grace. The void created was immediately filled by Kauzmann’s idea of hydrophobic (HφO) effect which reigned supreme in biochemical literature for over 50 years (1960-2010). Cracks in the HB-inventory argument on one hand, and doubts about the adequacy of Kauzmann’s model for the HφO effect, have led to a comeback of the HBs, along with a host of new hydrophilic (HφI) effects. The HφO effects lost much of its power - which it never really had - in explaining protein folding and protein-protein association. Instead, the more powerful and richer repertoire of HφI effects took over the reins. The interactions also offered simple and straightforward answers to the problems of protein folding, and protein-protein association.

Levinthal’s Paradox Revisited, and Dismissed

This article is concerned with the so-called Levinthal’s paradox. It will be argued that many have sought a “solution” to Levinthal’s paradox, where in fact, the “solution” already appeared in Levinthal’s original articles. Most of the subsequent suggested “solutions” were inadequate solutions to a non-paradox. It is shown that the discovery of strong hydrophilic forces not only dismisses the Levintal paradox, but also provides a solution to the general problem of protein folding. A simple model based on the Markov process is presented to demonstrate how a strong biased-force can dramatically reduce the number of steps required to reach the stable native 3-D structure of the protein.

Theory of cold denaturation of proteins

A new approach to the problem of cold denaturation is presented. It is based on solvent-induced effects operating on hydrophilic groups along the protein. These effects are stronger than the corresponding hydrophobic effects, and they operate on the hydrophilic groups which are plentiful than hydrophobic groups. It is shown that both heat and cold denaturation can be explained by these hydrophilic effects.

Neuropharmacological evaluation of methanolic extract of Costus speciosus Linn. rhizome in Swiss albino mice

Objective: To evaluate the neuropharmacological properties of Costus speciosus(C. speciosus) rhizome using different experimental mouse models. Methods: The anxiolytic effect was investigated by hole-board test, elevated plus maze and light/dark test, while central nervous system(CNS) depressant effect was evaluated by thiopental sodium-induced sleep test. Finally, antidepressant effect was evaluated by forced swimming test and tail suspension test. Results: In both elevated plus maze and hole board test, 400 mg/kg C. speciosus showed more significant CNS depressant effect than 1 mg/kg diazepam. Both 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg C. speciosus extract produced a significant dose-dependent decrease in onset of sleep. In forced swimming test, C. speciosus rhizome showed a decrease in duration of immobility in a dose-dependent manner. Imipramine(10 mg/kg) and C. speciosus extract at 400 mg/kg dose exhibited a significant reduction in duration of immobility in tail suspension test which provided additional evidence of antidepressant effect of C. speciosus rhizome. Conclusions: Our study indicates that C. speciosus rhizome possesses CNS depressant, anxiolytic and antidepressant-like activities. Further studies are warranted determine the exact phytoconstituents and mechanism of action responsible for the neuropharmacological effect.

Examining the M67 Classification as an Open Cluster

The cluster M67 (= NGC 2682) in Cancer is a rich stellar cluster, usually classified as an open cluster. Using our own observations with the 0.4 m telescope, we show that M67 is a tight group of about 1200 stars. The actual radius of the cluster is about 3.1 pc and the average mass of a star in the system is about . We also show that the ratio of the mean kinetic energy of the cluster to its mean gravitational potential energy , while the value predicted by the virial theorem is equal to . So the system is a gravitationally bound. This value of is considered as an evidence of quasi-stability of the cluster and allows us to use the Chandrasekhar-Spitzer relaxation time for M67 Myr as a characteristic dynamical relaxation time of the system. As the cluster is almost twice older its half-life time , it is argued that M67 was in the past (about 4 Gyr ago, close to its forma-tion) a relatively small ( stars) globular cluster, but got “open cluster” shape due to the dynamical evapora-tion of the majority of its stars.

Ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir + dasabuvir +/-ribavirin in real world hepatitis C patients

BACKGROUND The hepatitis C virus(HCV) NS5A inhibitor ABT-267(ombitasvir, OBV), the HCV NS4/4A protease inhibitor ABT-450(paritaprevir, PTV), the CYP3A inhibitor ritonavir(r) and the non-nucleoside NS5B polymerase inhibitor ABT-333(dasabuvir, DSV)(OBV/PTV/r + DSV) with or without ribavirin(RBV) is a direct-acting antiviral regimen approved in the United States and other major countries for the treatment of HCV in genotype 1(GT1) infected patients. Patients with HCV who are considered "hard-to-cure" have generally been excluded from registration trials due to rigorous study inclusion criteria, presence of comorbidities and previous treatment *** To investigate the efficacy of this regimen in HCV G1-infected patients historically excluded from clinical *** Patients were ≥ 18 years old and chronically infected with HCV GT1(GT1a, GT1b or GT1a/1b). Patients were treatment-na?ve or previously failed a regimen including pegylated interferon/RBV +/-telaprevir, boceprevir, or *** hundred patients were treated with the study drug regimen, which was administered for 12 or 24 wk +/-RBV according to GT1 subtype and presence/absence of cirrhosis. Patients were evaluated every 4 wk from treatment day 1 and at 4 and 12 wk after *** Many of the patients studied had comorbidities(44.2% hypertensive, 33.7%obese, 20.2% cirrhotic) and 16% previously failed HCV treatment. Ninety-six patients completed study follow-up and 99% achieved 12-wk sustained virologic response. The majority(88.4%) of patients had undetectable HCV RNA by week 4. The most common adverse events were fatigue(12%), headache(10%),insomnia(9%) and diarrhea(8%); none led to treatment discontinuation.
