Risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma associated with hepatitis C genotype 3 infection:A systematic review

Nipah virus (NiV) is a highly infectious zoonotic pathogen that poses a significant threat to human and animal health. First identified in Malaysia in 1998, NiV has since caused several outbreaks in Southeast Asia, with sporadic cases reported in Bangladesh and India. The virus is primarily transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected animals, primarily fruit bats, or through the consumption of contaminated fruits and their juices. NiV infection presents a wide spectrum of clinical features, ranging from mild respiratory illness to severe encephalitis, with a high case fatality rate. The incubation period typically ranges from 4 to 14 days, during which patients develop fever, headache, myalgia, and respiratory symptoms such as cough and sore throat. As the disease progresses, neurological signs become prominent, including altered consciousness, seizures, and focal deficits. Severe cases may exhibit acute respiratory distress syndrome and multi organ failure. Laboratory findings often include lymphocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, and elevated liver enzymes. Diagnosis of NiV infection requires specialized laboratory testing, including reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and serological assays. Currently, no specific antiviral treatment exists for NiV infection, and management primarily focuses on supportive care. Prevention and control strategies encompass public health interventions, surveillance, and raising awareness among healthcare providers and the general population. The emergence and re-emergence of NiV highlight the urgent need for continued research, improved diagnostic capabilities, and the development of effective vaccines and therapeutics to mitigate the impact of this deadly virus.

Polylactic acid(PLA)possesses good mechanical and biodegradability properties which make it a suitable material for polymer composites whereas brittleness and high costs limit its utilization in various *** reinforcement of natural fibres with biopolymers has been formed to be an efficient technique to develop composites having the ability to be fully *** study concerns with the incorporation of various percentages of untreated and alkali-treated Coir Fibres(CF)and pineapple leaf fibres(PALF)in PLA biocomposites and characterizations of flexural,morphological and dynamic mechanical *** properties showed that the treated C1P1 hybrid composites(C1P1A)displayed highest flexural strength(35.81 MPa)and modulus(5.28 GPa)among all hybrid *** Electron Microscopy(SEM)revealed a behaviour of fibre-matrix adhesion in untreated treated *** observation revealed good dispersion of the fillers in *** mechanical analysis revealed that C1P1A showed highest glass transition temperature(Tg)and storage modulus(E')while untreated C3P7 displayed the least Tg and E'.Overall findings showed that alkali-treated hybrid biocomposites(CF/PALF/PLA)especially C1P1A have improved flexural properties,dynamic and morphological properties over untreated *** of these findings will provide attracting consideration of these hybrid biocomposites for various lightweight uses in a broad selection of industrial applications such as biomedical sectors,automobile,construction,electronics equipment,and hardware tools.

Determination of correlation of Adjusted Blood Requirement Index with outcome in patients presenting with acute variceal bleeding

AIM:To determine the correlation of Adjusted Blood Requirement Index(ABRI) with the 7th day outcome in patients presenting with acute variceal ***:All patients presenting with acute variceal hemorrhage(AVH) were *** with previous band ligation,sclerotherapy,gastrointestinal or hepatic malignancies were *** were managed as per standard protocol for AVH with terlipressin and band *** scores were calculated using the formula outcome of alive or expired up to the 7th day after *** correlation between ABRI and mortality was estimated and a receiver operative characteristic(ROC) curve was ***:A total of 113 patients(76 male;37 female) were *** assessment,18 were in Child's Pugh Class A,82 in Class B and 13 were in Class *** median number of blood units transfused ± inter-quartile range was 3.0 ± *** median ± inter-quartile range for ABRI was 1.3 ± *** ROC curve of ABRI for expiry showed a signifi cantly large area of 0.848(P < 0.0001;95% CI:0.75-0.95) .A significant correlation of log transformation of ABRI with an outcome of mortality was present(P < 0.0001) .CONCLUSION:ABRI correlates strongly with mortality.

Validation of an Optimized Spectrophotometric Method for the Selective Determination of Labetalol Hydrochloride

A simple sensitive and economical method for the determination of labetalol hydrochloride has been proposed, based on the reaction of labetalol with sodium nitroprusside and hydroxylamine hydrochloride in sodium dihydrogen phosphate-sodium hydroxide buffer solution of pH 12. The green-blue color produced due to the formation of a nitroso derivative has been measured at 695 nm. The Beer＇s range was obeyed in the concentration range of 2-51 μg·mL^-1 with molar absorptivity of 0.48 × 10^4 L·mol^-1·cm^-1. Rigorous statistical analyses were performed for the validation of the method. A detailed investigation of the selectivity of the method has been done to find it to be highly selective for the determination of labetalol hydrochloride in the presence of its acidic degradation product and common excipients of formulations. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of labetalol hydrochloride in the laboratory prepared dosage forms. Comparison of the means of the proposed procedure with a reference method using point as well as interval hypotheses showed no statistically significant difference. The developed method was extended to investigate its applicability to biological samples.

Design of a gap tunable flux qubit with FastHenry

In the preparations of superconducting qubits, circuit design is a vital process because the parameters and layout of the circuit not only determine the way we address the qubits, but also strongly affect the qubit coherence properties. One of the most important circuit parameters, which needs to be carefully designed, is the mutual inductance among different parts of a superconducting circuit. In this paper we demonstrate how to design a gap-tunable flux qubit by layout design and inductance extraction using a fast field solver FastHenry. The energy spectrum of the gap-tunable flux qubit shows that the measured parameters are close to the design values.

The residual effect of tobacco biochar(TB≥500°C)mono and co-application with Cahydroxide(CH),Ca-bentonite(CB)and natural zeolite(NZ)on the bio-availability of trace elements TE(s)in alkaline soils has not been deeply studied yet.A pot study that had earlier been investigated TB mono and blended with CH,CB and NZ on the immobilization of Pb,Cu Cd,and Zn by Chinese *** crop in the rotation was selected as test plant to assess the residual impact of amendments on stabilization of Pb,Cu Cd,and Zn in mine polluted(M-P),smelter heavily and low polluted(S-HP and S-LP,respectively)*** obtained results showed that stabilization of Pb,Cd,Cu and Zn reached 63.84% with TB+CB,61.19% with TB+CH,83.31% with TB+CH and 35.27% with TB+CH for M-P soil,36.46% with TB+NZ,38.46% with TB+NZ,19.40% with TB+CH and 62.43% with TB+CH for S-LP soil,52.94%TB+NZ,57.65% with TB+NZ,52.94% with TB+NZ,and 28.44% with TB+CH for S-LP ***,TB+CH and TB alone had mobilized Pb and Zn up to19.29% and 34.96% in M-P *** mobility of Zn reached 8.38% with TB+CB and 66.03% with TB for S-HP and S-LP *** uptake and accumulation of Pb,Cd,Cu and Zn in shoot and root were reduced in three polluted ***,the combination of TB along with CH,CB and NZ has been proven to be effective in Pb,Cd,Cu and Zn polluted mine/smelter soils restoration.
